(WHTM) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of nearly 20,000 rear bolts that were installed on Trek and Electra bicycles due to a fall hazard.
According to the CPSC, approximately 19,890 rear wheel bolts were installed on model year 2026 Trek FX+ 1 and Electra Townie Go! electric bicycles have been recalled because the rear wheel bolts can break when torqued.

As a result, this can cause the wheel to separate from the bicycle, posing a fall hazard.
To date, the CPSC says there have been seven reports of the rear wheel bolts breaking on the affected bicycles; however, no injuries have been reported.
These bicycles with the recalled bolts were sold at Trek stores, and Trek authorized retailers nationwide and online from April 2025 through October 2025 for about $2,100.
