Malaysian property developer Malton Bhd is venturing into the green mobility sector after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Dongguan Benling Vehicle Technology Co Ltd (BENLG) to explore the establishment of a local assembly plant and distribution network for electric motorcycles.
The partnership aims to tap Malaysia’s growing urban EV market while positioning the country as a gateway to the broader ASEAN electric two-wheeler industry.
Under the nine-month MOU, Malton and BENLG will conduct joint feasibility studies to assess commercial viability, market demand and potential industrial sites for assembling EV motorcycles for domestic consumption and export.
The collaboration reflects Malton’s diversification into future-ready industries aligned with national policies on industrialisation, electrification and sustainable transportation, signalling a strategic move beyond its traditional property development business.
