Ford is Finally pulling the plug on this truck #ford #f150lightning #electricvehicle #chevy
Ford has officially pulled the plug on the all-electric F-150 Lightning, and honestly? It’s about time. Back in 2023, reports showed Ford was losing nearly 36,000 dollars on every truck they sold, and the market finally hit a breaking point. But instead of giving up, Ford is doing what they should have done from the start.
The next-gen Lightning is coming back as a hybrid, but not the kind you’re used to. It’s an Extended Range Electric Vehicle, meaning it uses a gasoline generator that isn’t actually connected to the wheels. It’s basically an EV with its own built-in power plant. You can still charge at home and handle your daily commute on pure electricity, but when it’s time to tow a trailer or head out on a road trip, the generator kicks in to give you over 700 miles of range. Since the engine only runs at an optimized RPM to charge the battery, it’s way more reliable and efficient than a traditional motor. Chevy actually proved this worked years ago with the Volt, and it’s a mystery why it took this long to bring that “best of both worlds” tech back to trucks.
