Plug-in hybrid cars with extended range are set to grow exponentially among fleets. The reason for this is twofold: on the one hand it allows companies to electrify their fleets and have tax advantages, and on the other it offers users costs that are comparable if not better than diesel models that are increasingly less present on car lists. The offer ranges from compacts, SUVs of various sizes to station wagons.
Audi Q3 e-hybrid
Powered by the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine combined with the electric motor, the Q3 e-hybrid claims a system output of 272 horsepower. The Audi Q3 e-hybrid adopts a high-density 19.7 kWh net battery pack, capable of providing an electric range of around 120 kilometres. In addition to recharging in alternating current at 11 kW, it can also be connected to direct current columns at up to 50 kW; in this case it goes from 10% to 80% in less than thirty minutes. Consumption is low even when the battery is empty, with a claimed 6 litres per 100 km in the most unfavourable conditions.
Byd Seal 6 Dm-i
Among the upcoming super hybrids are not only SUVs but also station wagons like the Byd Seal 6 Dm-i also available with a saloon body. Equipped with Byd’s Super Hybrid technology with Dm (Dual Mode), it integrates several innovations including dual high-speed electric motors with integrated controller, the Blade Battery and a 1.5-litre, 98 hp Xiaoyun petrol engine coupled with a 197 hp electric unit plus a 19 kWh battery that accepts up to 6.6 kW AC and 26 kW DC. The result is a propulsion system that functions most of the time as an EV, with up to 105 km of purely electric range and intelligent control brings efficiency for low consumption.
Mercedes GLC 300 de
Not only petrol models but also diesels among the extended range plug-in hybrids, as in the case of the Mercedes GLC 300de. Offered on all versions in combination with the 4Matic all-wheel drive and the nine-speed automatic transmission, the 300de is powered by a plug-in hybrid turbo diesel capable of unloading a total of 333 horsepower to the ground. The battery can also be recharged with direct current up to 60 kW in twenty minutes from 10 to 80 per cent, it ensures up to 130 kilometres with zero emissions and with electric drive alone it reaches a top speed of 140 km/h. According to the data sheet, the GLC 300 de sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and reaches 217 km/h
MG HS Phev
Over 100 kilometres of Wltp-approved electric range for the MG HS Phev. Powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine flanked by an electric motor powered by a 21.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, it adds a second electric traction motor that delivers 135 kW (184 hp). Finally, a motor-generator supplies energy to the system and the 21.4 kWh battery, which is capable of providing over 100 km of electric range.
