PENSACOLA, Fla. — A theft ring at the University of West Florida has been shut down thanks to a collaboration between UWF Police and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

UWF Police put out the announcement on Tuesday, saying that “over the past two months, numerous e-bikes and scooters were stolen, impacting our students and campus community.”

UWF Police and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Investigations teamed up to crack the case.

“A theft ring was identified and SHUT DOWN!,” a release states. “The suspects have been identified and are now facing numerous charges, including dealing in stolen property, grand theft, felony narcotics, and outstanding warrants.”

The identities of the suspects have not yet been released.

“This morning, investigators paid an unexpected visit to recover the stolen property,” UWF Police said. “Turns out we weren’t exactly on the invite list, but we did come with a warrant.”
