Mercedes-Benz sold 168,800 fully electric passenger vehicles last year, a 9% decline from the 185,100 units recorded in 2024.
According to data released by the German automaker on Monday, fourth quarter battery electric (BEV) sales increased 3% year over year, driven by the launch of the new CLA coupé.
However, this rebound was not sufficient to offset the declines seen in the first half of the year.
On the other hand, the Stuttgart-headquartered company saw a 9% increase in global plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales in 2025, with 368,600 units sold.
However, the change year over year was flat.
New energy vehicles (NEV) accounted for nearly 30% of its global sales in 2025, representing 537,400 units.
In 2025, the brand listed 1.8 million units across all powertrains, of which 459,400 were sold in the fourth quarter.
MB Group 2025 Perfomance
In 2025, the Mercedes-Benz Group sold a total of 2.16 million vehicles, including both cars and vans.
As a result, last year marked a rise in Mercedes-AMG deliveries by 7%, to 145,000 performance vehicles, and the best-ever sales for the electric G-Class model, which reached 49,700 units sold – a 23% increase.
In the fourth quarter, the Group’s sales represented 558,400 units, making it the strongest quarter of 2025.
Looking specifically at Mercedes-Benz Vans, last quarter’s figures reached 99,000 units, up 18% quarter-on-quarter.
In 2025, the van division sold 359,100 vehicles worldwide, with electric van numbers surging 46% to 28,500 units, boosting the global EV share to 8% and reaching a stronger 11% in Europe.
“Amidst a highly dynamic and volatile market condition, we closed the year with a solid sales performance, thanks to our strong product portfolio,” the Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Sales & Marketing Sagree Sardien emphasized on Monday.
Electric Models
Deemed by the company as “the smartest Mercedes-Benz,” the new fully electric CLA model is currently available in Europe from €48,109 – equivalent to $56,200.
It was awarded ‘Car of the Year 2026’ by the European Car of the Year jury and recognized as the best vehicle ever tested by the German car magazine Auto Motor und Sport.
Its electric lineup also includes the new GLC SUV, which was debuted at the IAA Auto Show in Munich last September.
According to the company, the model, priced around mid-$40,000s to $50,000s, has “order books already filled well into the second half of 2026.”
2026 Outlook
This year, Mercedes-Benz will release a “major update” of its S-Class, GLE and GLS models, in addition to the recently launched GLC SUV and CLA shooting-brake.
Late last year, Nvidia announced that its software could power a self-driving car, as tested with several Mercedes-Benz models scheduled for release later this year.
