LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A concerning trend from 2025 continues in 2026.
So far this year, a Las Vegas trauma center is seeing about one patient per day for injuries related to e-bikes or e-scooters. Sunrise Trauma says as of Friday, they’ve seen 10 patients for e-bike or e-scooter incidents. They’re also sharing their final tally of accident patients from 2025.
Last year, Sunrise treated 253 patients for e-bike and e-scooter injuries.
Safety concerns highlighted in December panel
Back in December, FOX5 hosted a panel made up of law enforcement, community leaders and medical professionals to talk about this growing crisis.

At the time, Sunrise staff said only 22 percent of e-scooter crash patients were wearing helmets. They also said they’d admitted 75 percent of those patients to the hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
Legislative action stalled
Despite calls for action from local lawmakers, Nevada state lawmakers did not pass a bill relating to e-bike or e-scooter safety in the special session late last year.
However, they did say they planned to start researching potential laws for discussion in this year’s regular session.
