Both the 2026 Qin Plus DM-i and Qin L DM-i feature up to 210 km CLTC battery range, partly to meet China’s latest NEV tax reduction requirements.
The Qin series is currently BYD’s best-selling model by monthly sales, with 60,667 units sold in December.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has refreshed two hybrid models in its popular Qin series, doubling their battery range partly to maintain eligibility for China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) tax incentives.

The company launched the 2026 Qin Plus DM-i at an event on Thursday and added new variants to the 2026 Qin L DM-i, both offering up to 210 kilometers of CLTC battery range.

China began imposing a 5% vehicle purchase tax on NEVs this year — half the standard 10% rate. Models qualifying for this tax reduction must now offer at least 100 kilometers of battery range.

The Qin lineup includes the Qin Plus and Qin L, both available as battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

The Qin Plus DM-i previously offered two range options: 55 km and 128 km. The Qin L DM-i featured a 128 km range.

The 2026 Qin Plus DM-i offers three variants, starting at RMB 79,800 ($11,430), RMB 89,800, and RMB 99,800. The base variant boasts a CLTC range of 128 km, while the other two offer 210 km.

The 2026 Qin L DM-i was launched in October 2025, previously offering two variants with post-discount starting prices of RMB 92,800 and RMB 102,800, both featuring a 128 km battery range.

BYD today added two new variants to the Qin L DM-i, both with 210 km battery range. Discounted starting prices are RMB 112,800 and RMB 122,800 respectively.

The exterior design of both models remains unchanged. The 2026 Qin Plus DM-i measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm. The 2026 Qin L DM-i measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm.

The Qin series is currently BYD’s best-selling model by monthly sales, with 60,667 units sold in December, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Beyond the Qin series, BYD announced yesterday it will also roll out extended-range versions for two Seal models — the Seal 05 DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i. The Seal series recorded 44,602 units sold in December.
