Rankin County Deputies said the incident happened around 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at a home on Houston Acres near Florence. Investigators said an unknown white male driving an older-model white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was seen loading a blue Lectric XP4 e-bike into the vehicle.

While the investigation remains ongoing, authorities believe the e-bike may have been mistaken for trash or salvage and removed unintentionally. Deputies said the bicycle belonged to a child and had been received as a Christmas gift.

Investigators released images of the vehicle, noting it has a black toolbox, a distinctive black rim on the rear passenger-side wheel, and a sticker on the rear window reading “In God We Trust.”

The sheriff’s department is urging the person who took the bicycle to contact authorities so it can be returned.

Anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle is asked to contact the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigations Division at 601-825-1480.
