Jeep and Chrysler have reportedly axed the trio of plug-in hybrid models currently offered by the two brands in the United States.
The Drive reported the news first; Road & Track has reached out to Stellantis to confirm, and will update this post if we hear back. The vehicles being discontinued include the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid; of note, however, this reportedly does not impact the upcoming Ram 1500 REV extended-range EV that packs an internal combustion engine alongside a large battery pack and electric motors.
Parent company Stellantis provided the following statement regarding this decision to The Drive: “Stellantis continually evaluates its product strategy to meet evolving customer needs and regulatory requirements,” a spokesperson said. “With customer demand shifting, Stellantis will phase out plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) programs in North America beginning with the 2026 model year, and focus on more competitive electrified solutions, including hybrid and range‑extended vehicles where they best meet customer needs.”
Prior to the discontinuation of the Jeep 4xe models, The Drive reported that both vehicles were under a stop-sale order due to recalls. There are still plenty of powertrains left to choose from with the 2026 Wrangler, including the 3.6-liter V-6, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 6.4-liter V8. Meanwhile, the Grand Cherokee will assume its new inline-four engine for 2026, and the Chrysler Pacifica will truck on with its aging 3.6-liter V-6 as the only powertrain.
