Verge TS Pro: World’s First Solid-State Electric Motorcycle Explained

Electric motorcycles have long promised quick charging and long range, but very few have realistically delivered both. Verge Motorcycles, a relatively small EV manufacturer from Finland, may have just changed that with the TS Pro. The brand claims it is the world’s first production electric motorcycle to feature a solid-state battery — a technology that could change how we look at electric two-wheelers.

What makes the TS Pro stand out immediately is its ability to support CCS2 fast charging at speeds of up to 200kW. Verge claims this allows the bike to recharge from 0 to 80 percent in just 10 minutes, provided a high-output charger is available.

Verge TS ProWhy The Solid-State Battery Is A Big Deal

Unlike conventional lithium-ion or LFP batteries that rely on liquid or gel electrolytes, the TS Pro’s solid-state battery uses a solid electrolyte. This is said to significantly reduce the risk of overheating and fire, while also allowing faster charging and higher energy density.

The battery has been developed by Donut Labs, though Verge hasn’t disclosed detailed information about the chemistry or manufacturing process. While solid-state batteries have been talked about for years, this is one of the first times the technology has made it into a production-ready motorcycle.

Verge TS Pro Side ProfileTwo Battery Options, Big Range Claims

Verge offers the TS Pro with two battery pack choices. The smaller 20.2kWh unit comes with a claimed range of up to 350km, while the larger 33.3kWh pack pushes that figure to an impressive 600km. Even if the real-world range falls short of these numbers, the TS Pro still promises significantly more riding time between charges than most electric motorcycles on sale today.

The inclusion of CCS2 fast charging also means the TS Pro can use the same public fast chargers as electric cars, something which we have also seen on the Indian EV, Raptee T30, as well.

Verge TS ProHubless Motor With Supernaked Performance

Powering the TS Pro is Verge’s distinctive hubless rear motor, which uses electromagnets mounted inside the wheel to drive permanent magnets on the rim. This setup produces 102kW and an eye-watering 1,000Nm. Verge claims a 0-100kph sprint time of just 3.5 seconds, although the bike’s 235kg kerb weight suggests it’s more about straight-line punch than outright agility. If you thought that was it, Verge has another variant, the TS Ultra. This variant pushes the line further and makes 1200Nm and does the 0-100kmph sprint in a claimed 2.5 seconds (a whole second faster!). However, all of that remains to be tested in the real-world.

Verge TS Pro Instrument ConsolePremium Hardware And Practical Touches

The TS Pro gets traction control, dual-channel ABS, adjustable regenerative braking and four riding modes: Range, Zen, Beast and Custom. Hardware includes fully adjustable Ohlins suspension, Brembo M4.32 radial callipers and Pirelli tyres. There’s also cruise control, heated grips and a small under-seat storage compartment. Seat height stands at 780mm, with 140mm of ground clearance.

Expected Price And What It Means For EV Bikes

Internationally, the Verge TS Pro is priced at around 29,900 Euros before taxes. If it were to come to India, the electric motorcycle could cost roughly Rs 35-40 lakh (ex-showroom). While that puts it firmly in the niche segment, the technology it introduces could play a crucial role in shaping the future of electric motorcycles globally.
