Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Coming to Downtown Indianola Square | KNIA KRLS Radio – The One to Count On

The Indianola City Council approved a grant process Monday evening for electric vehicle charging stations on the square, through funds from the Iowa Economic Development Authority. City Manager Jake Meshke tells KNIA News the city will be reimbursed the project costs, and will allow for owners of electric vehicles to better enjoy the downtown square with little impact on the budget.
“Really we are looking at this as a 5-year window where we have a comprehensive warranty as well as the software. And the upfront costs is a huge piece of this, all in for that five-year period we’re looking at $86,500, so it’s a significant investment but getting this reimbursable grant is really going to allow us to purchase that equipment as well as cover five years of operating expenses.”
