Electric motorcycle startup Verge Motorcycles has made history by becoming the first motorcycle manufacturer in the world to deliver a production bike powered by a solid-state battery pack.
This groundbreaking technology was developed in collaboration with Donut Lab, a company founded by the same team behind Verge. It will debut in the updated Verge TS Pro, which the company says will reach customers in the coming months.
According to Verge, the new solid-state battery dramatically improves range, charging speed, and overall usability. With the extended-range pack, the Verge TS Pro is capable of:
– Up to 370 miles (600 km) of range on a single charge—nearly double the previous standard.
– Ultra-fast charging, adding 186 miles (300 km) of range in just 10 minutes.
– Uncompromised performance, retaining its signature 1,000 Nm of torque, 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) acceleration in 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h).
Verge revealed its most recent evolution of the TS Pro at the EICMA show in November, where it received technical updates and a new user interface. Donut Lab also revealed a lighter, more efficient hubless motor, claiming 50% weight reduction, and 2026 models will feature NACS charging for the U.S.
Beyond performance gains, safety is one of the most significant advantages of solid-state battery technology. Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries are far less prone to catching fire, making them considerably safer—especially during charging.
“The use of solid-state battery technology in production motorcycles is a historic breakthrough that shakes up the entire automotive industry,” said Tuomo Lehtimäki, CEO of Verge Motorcycles. “Our close development work with Donut Lab, along with extensive battery pack testing and validation, has reached a point where we can implement this technology in the new evolution of the Verge TS Pro model. The bike is already in production and available through Verge’s website and showroom stores.”
