The Jeep Wrangler 4xe was the best-selling plug-in hybrid in America for multiple years, and as 2025 sales figures come in, it still could be the champ. The Grand Cherokee PHEV isn’t exactly a slouch either, popular enough that it was the only way to get a Trailhawk off-road version. But if you visit Jeep’s website now, you’d never know it. The models have been all but scrubbed from the brand’s digital pages, leaving us wondering what on earth is going on?

4xe Has Been Scrubbed Like A Wrangler After Mud

Jeep’s 4xe models aren’t completely gone from the site, but where you’ll still find them feels like an oversight. Go to the “Electric & Hybrid” tab, and they’re both gone. Dip into “All Vehicles” and you’ll find the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee both. But while a few weeks ago there were separate entries for the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe, both are gone now.

You won’t find them hiding under the model page tabs either. Take a visit to the Grand Cherokee page and not only are the 4xe models gone, the Trailhawk isn’t there at all. On the Wrangler side, it’s the same thing.

Maybe that’s just because Jeep hasn’t launched the 2026 4xe models, we hear you asking. That’s true, and Jeep does sometimes separate the Wrangler and Wrangler 4xe models into separate announcements. This, though, applies to the 2025 models. They aren’t just not there, they’ve been scrubbed.

Take a closer look at Jeep’s current hybrid efforts, before getting excited about what’s yet to come.

We know that Jeep has revealed a new Grand Cherokee model for 2026. The information from the brand that came out at that time didn’t mention the PHEV, but we know it was planned. There are official spec sheets for it, and there are also images (you can see one higher up in this post).

Is Jeep’s PHEV Experiment Dead?

What gives? Are the 4xe’s dead for 2026? Is the Trailhawk dead? We noticed the omission during the holiday break when most PR reps are out of office, but with the models still MIA into 2026, we reached out to Jeep for comment. A company spokesperson told CarBuzz that “We’ll have more to share on the 2026 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe in the near future.”

We pressed harder, asking about the disappearance of the 2025s, and were told to wait for an official response. So stay tuned. We’ll update this story with that answer when it arrives.

Jeep has recalled 154,032 Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrids in the United States over a fire risk. Jeep

The real reason they’ve disappeared might be related to a recall from November. Jeep recalled multiple 4xe models because of a potential for engine failures related to “sand from the casting process.” Because Jeep recalled the models, it also told dealers that a Stop Sale was in effect. As the name implies, that means dealers can’t sell the models. Fines for selling one are up to $27,874 per vehicle.

Jeep doesn’t have a fix for that issue, at least not yet. It said in the recall communications that it hoped to have a fix in the second quarter. That’s still at least three months away.

Here’s How Much You Can Make Off Reselling Your Jeep Grand Cherokee

Does Grand Cherokee value drop like a rock, or will you get a decent payout when it’s time to sell?

We’re making an assumption here, but if Jeep can’t supply engines for the recall, it probably doesn’t have engines to put in new vehicles, either. That could be the reason why 4xe models haven’t shown up yet under 2026 model tabs, but it still leaves us scratching our heads as to the disappearance of the 2025s. In any case, if you were looking at buying one of the most popular PHEVs in America, you’re out of luck for the foreseeable future.
