A California man was arrested by Lyndhurst police three days after he fled the scene of a fatal e-bike crash in Burlington County, authorities said.

Thair Maroki, 40, of El Cajon, California, was charged with second-degree counts of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Mount Laurel police responded to the 1100 block of Route 73 South at 12:15 a.m. on Monday for a report of an unconscious man lying in the street, authorities said.

Officers found Anthony Caprio III, 49, of Magnolia unresponsive near a Rodeway Inn on Rogers Walk Boulevard, police said. He was later declared dead at the scene.

Investigators used surveillance recordings of the area to identify a white SUV with California license plates that fled the scene after the collision, authorities said.

The SUV was located on Thursday by Lyndhurst police in Bergen County and Maroki was taken into custody, authorities said.

Maroki is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Burlington County on Friday and prosecutors said they will request that he be detained.

Maroki did not have an attorney listed in court records on Friday.
