Prius vs EV? 2025 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid Review | Real Range, No Anxiety
What if the most fuelefficient vehicle sold in America also became one of the quickest tech pack daily drivers you could buy? This is the 2025 Toyota Prius premium plug-in hybrid and it might be the smartest new car on the road right now. Hey everyone, I’m Fred St for Cruise Control Motoring. Today we’re taking a look at the 2025 Toyota Prius Premium Plug-in Hybrid. Toyota’s latest evolution of its iconic efficiency leader, now with real EV range, real power, and real style. Formerly known as the Prius Prime, the 2025 model now becomes the Prius plug-in hybrid. This makes Toyota’s electrified lineup a lot easier to understand. Under the hood is Toyota’s fifth generation hybrid system, pairing a 2 L 4 cylinder engine with electric motors for a combined output of 220 horsepower. That’s good for a 0 to 60 time of just 6.6 seconds. Not bad. The 13.6 kWh battery delivers up to 44 miles of all electric driving. A really nice increase. And once the battery is depleted, you’re getting up to 52 miles combined in hybrid mode. Charging is simple, about 11 hours on a standard 120 volt outlet or roughly 4 hours on a level two charger. Our test car was finished in something called cutting edge, a sort of a gray that paired with the red and black soft text interior adds up to a genuinely sharp, low, wide, and modern look. This premium plug-in is loaded with options including the advanced technology package, digital rear view mirror, heated rear seats, and the standout solar charging roof, which can add some range while parked, and power accessories while driving. Inside you get Toyota’s latest audio multimedia system, a 12.3 in touchscreen, JBL Premium audio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which features things like adaptive cruise control, lane tracing, and traffic jam assist. What’s new? Well, new Prius plug-in hybrid name, plug-in hybrid badging, and improved performance and tech. What’s great, 44 miles of full electric range, 220 horsepower and quick acceleration, plus solar roof and premium tech options. What’s not so great? The price climbs quickly with options. And there’s a heavily raked windshield, which may be a turnoff to some drivers and passengers. Our review vehicle came in at $43,910. That’s including destination. If you want EV like driving without range anxiety, the 2025 Prius plug-in hybrid is one of the smartest new cars you can buy. Hey, we hope you’ve enjoyed the automotive content.
