Electric Car Sales in Worlds Biggest Car Market Break Records – Surge Above 60%
In November this year, sales of electric cars in China increased by around 10%. Plug-in hybrid sales increased by 1%. And that meant that EV sales hit an all-time record in China. The numbers looked amazing. I mean, we thinking about I’m thinking to myself, 60% of all cars in the biggest car market in the world, 60% are now either EVs or plug-in hybrids, with 60% of those being fully electric. In other words, the most dominant car by powertrain type in China is clearly EVs. Now, it’s not even close. So, around 40% of all cars sold in China were fully electric in the month of November. That’s an all-time record. However, December was even better. Hello, my friends. Welcome to the channel. I’m Sam Evans. You’re watching the Electric Viking. Great to have you with us. Here’s a chart from Cena Post. It shows you EV sales, actual EV sales in China for the last 3 years. And as you can see, the trajectory in every month but one, has been up. There’s only one month in the last 3 years, which was February of 2024, where EV sales didn’t rise versus the same month in the previous year. And you can see here what’s going on, which is pretty staggering, right? 800 more than 800,000 electric cars were sold in China in November. And that’s fully electric cars. Not plug-in hybrids, not e-revs, not whatever, just completely fully electric cars. I did a video recently saying that hybrids are dead because hybrid sales in China have stalled as in they’ve been going down for the last few months and EV sales are continuing to increase. And I thought, you know what, November is a great month. It’s showing us what’s going to happen by 2030. By 2030, I I estimate 80% of China’s car market will be fully electric. 20% will be some sort of hybrid, probably e-reving hybrids combined. But the trend is interesting because the global media keep pretending as though this isn’t happening. They keep saying, “Well, EV sales are going down, which is completely false.” As you can see, they’re not. But December was an even better year. Now, Carne China has just reported that in December, the overall market in China has gone down, right? Sales in China in the in the first week of December have gone down, but sales of EVs as a percentage of all cars sold hit a record high. So, new energy vehicle sales, as in a combination of plug-in hybrids and EVs, with EVs making up the majority of those sales, hit 64% in December. 64% there. That’s up from 60% in November. Now, if we’re already at 64% in December of this year, I think it’s pretty safe to say we’ll hit 90% minimum by 2030. And that will mean that well considering about 34 million cars are sold worldwide in China nearly 40% global market share for the entire global car market is China. Yeah. And if China is 80% electric by 2030 that will mean that more than 27 million electric cars will be sold in China in 2030. More than 27 million. The entire global car market is only around well just under 80 million sales per year. If you put two and two together and you work out that actually global EV sales outside of China, Europe, and North America have increased by 48% this year. Some countries are well above 50%. Places you’ve never heard of. For example, places like Ukraine, uh Nepal and others, Thailand, EV sales have skyrocketed. We can very clearly see the trajectory we’re heading on. And it makes one thing very clear. Australians in particular, they love, right, Japanese diesel-powered honestly dinosaurs, but they they a lot of them think I’m going to be driving a Toyota diesel for the next 50 years. But the marketplace for those vehicles is shrinking. And even though at this point in time, Toyota is still selling a lot of cars. It’s sort of like, you know, BlackBerry and Nokia, they were selling a lot of phones before they weren’t. And I think we’re right on that precipice. Let me know what you think. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Let us know in the comments. Thanks for watching. China is now allowing Tesla to transfer data for full self-driving overseas. This is a huge change to China’s policy when it comes to Tesla and the data that they collect from Chinese roads, businesses, everywhere you can think of. Hello my friends, welcome to the channel. I’m Sam Evans. You’re watching the Electric Viking. It’s great to see you. biggest thing for Tesla right now is artificial intelligence, data collection, um training their neural networks, improving their Tesla bot and actually getting Tesla’s full self-driving to be approved by regulators. Tesla think they can do that within the next year. I mean, if you ask Elon Musk, even sooner than that based on Tesla’s newest full self-driving update, which is about to come out within the next couple of weeks, Musk believes interventions will be almost eliminated. You’re talking very close to being uh permissible for self-driving. Very very close. And Tesla obviously is about to remove the nanny. So remove the the the necessary part of nagging the nagging in the car where you’ve got to hold it. It nags you. Tesla going to apparently remove that which would be it would it really would put them in a position where more people would be having lawsuits against Tesla. That assumes that full self-driving isn’t you know amazing or better than a human driver. It very well may be by the end of this year. Who knows? Shanghai has compiled a list of data that can be transferred overseas without security assessments. And this document was seen by Reuters, meaning Tesla is now open to transfer data. It it records through its vehicles and it has obviously hundreds of thousands of vehicles driving the roads in China. Now, the idea here, guys, is that those vehicles collect data. Tesla uses that data to train its neural nets for its artificial intelligence, for its full self-driving software. And Tesla really wants to get this approved in China. Now, it can then pivot away from just selling cars in China’s blood in China’s real, you know, bloodbath as Xpunk CEO called it where automakers almost all of them are selling at a loss. Now foreign firms including financial companies and automakers like Tesla have lobbyed Chinese authorities to permit crossber data sharing after Beijing tightened controls over domestically generated data in a national security drive. Now as you know you can’t you can’t technically use things like YouTube and Twitter in China. There’s a lot the Chinese government bans and this is all part of that kind of protection stuff. The 2022 rules though require all important offshore data transfers to clear security reviews by the cyerspace administration of China causing enormous delays and concerns among foreign firms. It it basically means there’s there’s too much work involved here. You couldn’t possibly have this essential um cyber space administration of China actually collect and check all the Tesla’s data that it’s that is actually recording on a daily basis. You would need hundreds of staff to do this. It would just never be possible. So, so far Tesla’s data has well basically Tesla are not able to um send that data outside of China, but that’s about to change
