The Making of a Lion | EPISODE 6 | BEYOND MOTORSPORT
The perfect day off is obviously in a race car. [Music] But unfortunately, you can’t do that every day. Do you ever miss normal life? Yes. When I look back in my whole childhood, we have always been in a very normal family, you know, easy going Danish life. We have like a family routine. At least once a year we go skiing all together because it’s a mix of being active on the skis, burning some energy, being exhausted when you get back home, just enjoying the snow and the Christmas time with the family. [Music] This thing of having like a rhythm of a daily week is something which I’m missing because a lot of times it’s waking up in the middle of the night to go to the airport. But on the other hand, I would never complain. For the moment, this is what I love. How has racing shaped you? Racing has definitely been a huge part of my education as a person. There’s a huge amount of things which I’ve learned from racing teams and people surrounded in the racing padlocks to be structured being on top of everything that everything is clean. It’s ready good to go for the next race. You need to learn it from life and doing it. learning by doing. But beside that, there’s also a lot of working going on outside of the racing world. I have personal sponsors that I still need to look after, debrief reports from the race weekend or the test, organizing flight tickets, transfers, and planning the next travels. And what about the fans, especially younger ones? A part of being a driver is obviously being a public person as well and being a good representing role model for the people that are following you and being a fan. I’m passionated about the sport that you are doing. Especially when I see kids is something that you feel like, okay, this means something to you. A boy who’s 8 years old, he’s dreaming about doing the same things as you’re doing today. [Music] Now I’m fortunate I’m a racing driver and hopefully I got a long career in front of me. [Music]
