LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — In 2025, 219 people visited a Las Vegas Valley hospital with injuries related to electric vehicle devices, officials said Friday.
On Tuesday, officials reported that 210 people had visited Sunrise Hospital in 2025 with injuries involving electric bikes and scooters.
The new cases represent a 4% increase in the past three days of a year that has averaged just over one such injury every two days — a 455% increase in the average daily rate of e-device-related injuries at the facility.
Hospital officials said Tuesday that 77% of the injured were male and 23% were female, and 33% of patients had head injuries. Fractures were reported in 140 of the cases.
Three people died in 2025 from injuries related to the devices at Sunrise Hospital.
University Medical Center (UMC) officials shared numbers through Oct. 31, with 158 total admissions related to the devices, an increase of 18 when compared to the entirety of 2024. Officials project a total of 211 admissions by the end of 2025.
Estimates indicate UMC Trauma physicians will see a 412% increase in pediatric cases from 2023.
