A fire at a Tesla Motors facility at Stanford Research Park prompted a heavy response from Palo Alto and Mountain View firefighters on Wednesday night.
The fire occurred at Tesla’s facility on Deer Creek Road, which formerly served as the company’s headquarters. There were no reported injuries, according to Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Stoddard.
The fire was reported at about 6:40 p.m., according to department logs. Fire engines and trucks could be seen around the parameter of the facility at 3500 Deer Creek Road hours after the initial reports, while Tesla employees stood outside the research campus and security guards barred entry for individuals not affiliated with the company.
It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the fire or what the extent of the damage was.
The Palo Alto Fire Department initially requested assistance from Mountain View but that request was cancelled shortly thereafter.
According to department logs, most of the units that responded to the scene were cleared by 10:30 p.m.
This is a developing story that will be updated.
