#Ford to partner #Renault to build two small platform electric cars. Why wouldn’t you just buy an R5

Is anyone at all surprised by this? Ford are having a strategic partnership with Renault. Ford killed the Mondo, killed the Fiesta, and have just killed the Ford Focus. They’ve given us back the Capri, or at least something called a Capri. So, they’re teaming up with Renault Group in the hope to build two affordable small platform electric cars, likely on the same platform as the Renault 5, which is selling like hot cakes. The thing is though, if you wanted to buy one of those cars, why wouldn’t you buy the Rena 5? Cuz let’s face it, when they used to build cars in Dagenham, it was a good reason to buy a Ford. But now, no Ford cars, not even Ford vans are built in the UK. So if you want something like a Renault 5, you just buy a Renault 5. It’ll be interesting to see if Renault actually makes a bid for Ford. The same thing happened years ago and Fiat was in trouble for years and years and years and years and Chrysler was looking to buy them and then the Fiat 500 came along and they could do no wrong. They sold like hotcakes and Fiat bought Chrysler. Would you buy a Renault 5 with Ford Fiesta stuck over the badges on the tailgate?
