CARLISLE Police have seized a high-powered electric bike as part of ongoing efforts to tackle illegal e-bikes being ridden on local roads and pavements.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team removed the bike earlier today (Sunday, December 7) after finding it capable of reaching speeds of almost 60kph (around 37mph).

A spokesperson for Carlisle Police said: “These bikes are not road legal and pose a hazard to other road users and pedestrians, and unfortunately for this rider, he has made a rather expensive mistake with the bike being seized and taken off the road permanently.”
