LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Black Friday sales have left Radical eBikes co-owner Michael Giangregorio with a depleted inventory, as the shop begins restocking for the holiday season. “Yeah. We totally got wiped out.

We usually have a ton more bikes in here,” Giangregorio said. The popularity of e-bikes is on the rise, with many families considering them as holiday gifts.

Giangregorio emphasized the benefits of e-bikes, saying, “It is definitely getting kids off the couch. They are getting outside. They are enjoying their environment, which is super, super important.”

However, safety remains a significant concern. Since the start of 2025, e-bikes and e-scooters have been involved in eight fatal crashes in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction. The department is one of the first in the country to track such crash data.

In an exclusive News 3 interview in October, a UMC emergency room doctor reported nine fatal collisions brought to their trauma center in the past year.

Not too long after, a Sunrise Trauma Center official in an interview with News 3 noted that between roughly January and October, 150 to 170 e-bike and e-scooter accidents resulted in emergency room visits, with about 30% involving children.

Jose, a customer whose 11-year-old son is interested in e-bikes, expressed amazement over the demand. “It is just outrageous how everybody wants these bikes right now,” he said. Giangregorio reassures customers concerned about safety by providing a comprehensive safety rundown for each e-bike sold. “When somebody does purchase a bike from us, we go through every safety function, feature of the bike,” he said.

This includes explaining the bike’s reflectors, horn, and resistance levels to ensure safe usage.

Giangregorio also says he prioritizes customer safety over sales, stating, “We have refused sales in the past to individuals because they thought they wanted something that was out of their scope. And that can be dangerous.” For Jose, this commitment to safety provides relief. “Obviously, he is more experienced on something like this, and he can give us a couple of pointers on how to maintain it or what to expect out of the bike,” he said.
