CHICO, Calif. — Officers found a man hiding in a cardboard box after breaking into the Tesla Service Center on Monday night, according to the Chico Police Department (CPD).
Officials said officers responded to a reported break-in at the Tesla facility on Huss Drive after the building’s alarm and surveillance system alerted dispatchers. According to officers, once they got inside the building, they found the suspect, identified as Salazar Zapien, hiding in a cardboard box. He was ultimately taken into custody on first-degree burglary charges.

Police said the break-in was not connected to the Motel 6 robbery, but both cases remain under active investigation.
