I surprised him with his DREAM E-Bike!
One year ago, I reviewed a bike called the Raar Mantis X. And at the time, it was one of the most coste effective emotives you could get on the market that would go like 50 m an hour. Well, guess what? Raar tripled the power. That’s not even the coolest part. Now, you might remember I ended up giving the Mantis X to my good friend Matt. Since then, Matt has fallen in love with Raar. He rides it every single day. Recently, we made a video when he bought a Cake Caulk, which was his ultimate dream bike. And he ended up selling that cuz he just liked the Raar more. So, when Raar reached out and was like, “Hey, do you want to review this upgraded version of that bike?” I was like, “Sure, but can I give it to Matt?” And they said yes. So, here’s the plan. Matt obviously has no idea that I’m giving him this bike, but he does know that I’m reviewing it. I told him that I have this bike on loan from Raar and I want to review the bike side by side. His Mantis X versus the new Mantis X Pro. Now, Matt and I actually got to ride the Mantis XP Pro before it was even announced and I had to blur everything out because Raar still hadn’t officially announced the bike yet. I’m going to be meeting up with Matt in a couple hours and he thinks I just have this bike on loan from Raar, so he’ll never expect that today he’s getting a new bike. This is the Raar Mantis X Pro. It is the exact same frame as the Mantis X, 72 volts. This thing is supposed to go 65 m an hour. That’s about the top speed of a stock 2025 Ultrabe. That’s crazy if that’s true. We’ll cover every single difference when we compare it to Matt’s bike. But right off the bat, you can see they added a linkage. There’s a bigger battery. Massive DOT brakes. Those are what you get on like an Alta Sigma, Arctic Leopard, Vetra Blazer. These are the really good brakes that everyone loves. uh free lanyard. The original Mantis X came with like a crazy amount of accessories, especially for a bike at that low price point. Now, the Mantis X Pro is a little bit more expensive naturally, but it’s still less than a new Suron Lightbe, and it’s supposed to like smack a Lightbeat. Yo, accessories alert. First out of the box, front axle, number plate bracket, and some other stuff. Brand new front number plate. The old Mantis X came with an integrated headlight. This is much more Siron style. Kind of cool. It’s a little bit wider than a SARN plate, but I like the way it looks. What is this instructions? Okay, let’s read these carefully. Okay, just kidding. I need to actually uh keep everything nice for when I give this to Matt. This is the coolest part about RAR bikes. I swear. Look at this. Raar emoto box. Are you kidding me? No one is doing it like this. Dang. extra bolts, every single wrench you could possibly need. This is the type of thing that every single emoto company should do. And last but not least, we have the Mantis XPro charger. All right, enough talk. Let’s put this puppy together. I’m trying to put together this entire bike using only the tools that come in the tool kit. I’m starting by mounting up the bars with the included stem spacer. It actually comes with two and extra long bolts if you want the bars to be extra high. I’ve never seen this before, but they actually labeled the wires so I know exactly which ones to disconnect to disable the brake sensors. The front wheel comes boxed separately. It’s 19 in and it has a really nice front tire on it. Unboxing this is about as simple as it can get. And it’s kind of fun cuz you can just rotate the whole bike on the stand that comes in the box. And that makes it super easy to mount up your front wheel, which is generally the worst part of this. I’m packing up every single tool back into the toolbox so I can include it when I surprise Matt with this bike. I’m also bringing some of my favorite JT gloves. And then it was time to hit the road. First ride on the Raar Amanda’s X Pro. I’m on my way to meet up with Matt right now. We’re gonna go check out the abandoned mountain bike park cuz as you can see, uh, the pavement’s a little wet. We need somewhere covered. I’m going to be honest, I am quite nervous. Reason number one I’m nervous is that Matt is kind of perceptive and I’m pretty nervous he’s going to figure out that I’m up to something. And reason number two, these are brand new tires. They are maybe the glossiest looking tires I’ve ever seen. And in order to get to the mountain bike park, I have to ride on a lot of very slippery roads. Oh, dude. This thing cooks. Hold on. It’s crazy cuz this thing feels exactly like a regular Mantis X, but it so clearly has way more power. Shout out to RAR, man. Not a lot of companies do this. All right, let’s bump it up to race. Oh. Oh. Oh my god. Okay. Okay, it’s quick. That feels like 15 kW, man. That’s crazy. The jump from 6 1/2 kW on the regular bike to 15 on the Pro model is crazy, dude. This puts it at the same power level as an E-Ride Pro SS 3.0, which in my opinion is one of the best bikes you can get on the market right now. That power level is just perfect for a bike this size. I’m really nervous on these tires. I think I’m going to warm them up just a little bit. Oh no. Is it starting to rain? Not again, dude. It was supposed to be dry for the rest of the day. And that’s okay. We’re like a block away from meeting up with Matt. I’m trying to earn an Oscar with this performance I’m about to put on. I want him to have no idea. I’m a little nervous. What if he’s like, “Ah, I like my current bike more, but I don’t know. People who like Raar really like Raar.” Oh my god, there he is. Hey, what’s up? How’s it going? I wanted to get you something, man, but I didn’t know what you got. Oh, that’s that’s totally fine. Maybe I’ll get a little burger. I don’t Damn, this thing looks really really nice. You like it? God. Oh my gosh. It’s so clean, too. We should put them side by side and do like a comparison of every part cuz there’s a bunch of parts that are like slightly different. So, I was thinking we could just like swap back and forth. Try it out. Okay, I’m going to get a burger. This section of the video is called cool things about the Mantis Pro uh that you don’t see on the regular Mantis X. And also cool things that are we like about that are just kind of cool. Brand new rear linkage setup not present on the regular Mantis X. Siron style front number plate and headlight rather than the Mantis style integrated headlight. Extra cushy bike seat. What are you doing? Compared to the slimmer and less comfortable original. Massive DOT brakes compared to the mountain bike brakes on the original. 72V 35 aour battery. That’s compared to just 30 amp hours on the original. Extra bracing on the rear of the frame for increased stiffness and rigidity. Nothing on the original. You’re like a Mantis head. Give me your honest thoughts on this versus that. Just looking at it, I feel like they took the Mantis, which is already an amazing bike. I love it so so much. I feel like everything’s just dialed up. Like just they turned the quality up just like another notch. In the US, you can buy what a 2025 Saron for like uh 4700 which is more expensive than this. And this has literally twice the power of a 2025 SAR. Personally, I think it’s like the ultimate do everything fun machine though. People are going to think this is like a sponsored video. Just like I love Raar. I really do. And I think what they did with this bike was awesome to be honest with you. I’m like waiting for the day where I can see somebody like selling one of these on on Facebook market used or something. I feel like it’ll happen like relatively soon because people get these bikes and then either lose interest or I don’t know. thing looks like actually you can eat like you can eat off of that kind of Oh, wait. It’s got a tail light. Oh my god, that’s a huge difference. Oh my god. How do we miss that? Oh, that’s awesome. It still has like the ASMR on it. You want to ASMR it really quick? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They jump from like 6 kW to 15. Must be a different motor, too, though. I think it might be like visually the motor looks different. I’d have to confirm, but yeah. Like see the finish on it is like different. Oh. Oh, dude. I didn’t even think about the bridge we have to go over. These tires are so slippery right now. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. We’re good. We’re good. You’re crying. These knobbyby tires just like bite into the thing and start wiggling you around. Let’s take the little shortcut. Yeah. Yeah. This is the secret backway to the secret mountain bike park. Oh, the suspension honestly is pretty planet. It’s really soft and super comfortable. I haven’t messed with the dials at all, but for like adventuring around, I can’t really think of anything that would feel better than this. Here we are, the abandoned mountain bike park. They just put in a brand new pump track. Okay, we got to spot everything out because I have not been here in a while and it is dicey. What’s the caution tape for? It’s a great question. Should probably check it out. Let’s do a little tour through and then we’ll go to the pump track. Also, the colony has changed a little bit. You and I are kind of like duo queuing raiders up here. I don’t know what that means. So, Arc Raiders is like a get in, loot up, and escape kind of thing. So, you and me doing in here is to say, you know, I got your back. That’s what’s up, man. Thank you. Yeah, this is the little jump line. Oh wow. Oh wow. Trail closed. Like it’s possible because they built that pump track. Now people are actually interested in fixing this up. We’ve been trying to fix this up for like years. Obviously we can’t go that way. So we got to go this way. Oh wow, Matt, look at this. They’ve deconstructed that whole thing. A lot of those boards were rotting, so maybe they’re replacing them with new ones. Oh my god, an RC car. Okay, let’s go check that out. I really hope they redo that jump. That jump is so sick. That thing is sweet. Do you do jumps and stuff with it? We can find some good ones. Really? Oh, no. These are This is a RA Mantis X Pro and then that’s a Mantis X. So, we’re like comparing them for a video. Yeah, this one’s like weirdly fast. They just came out with this smaller. Is it just more power? I think it’s 1719 on both. Like I think everything about the frame and the wheels and the suspension is the same except it has the linkage, way more power, different headlight. This one has a slightly bigger battery. So, this will probably have 10 to 12% more range. dude. Oh my god, dude. It’s pulling wheelies. Okay, we’ll see you down there. That’s awesome. Are these all like bike accessories? What is Dude, what is happening here right now? I think it’s time for you to try this puppy out. You sure? Yeah, of course. Yeah. At this point, I want to get a little bit of pop. Yeah. Dude, this thing feels so good. Feel like you always have to ask to wheelie somebody else’s bike, but I really want to wheelie this bike. Woo! Man, it’s got more power. Be nice to uh hop and do wheelie on there, but I can’t do that. Not my bike. Not my bike. Not my bike. That like little table there. Yeah. Can I get a little bit of air on that? You can do whatever you want. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He’s being so polite. Matt, that’s your bike, dude. I just can’t tell you yet. Man, it’s so nice. Oh, it’s so good, though. Dreams. This thing is absolute dreams. I couldn’t put together a better bike. This bike is so good, man. I I’m really really obsessed. I know it’s like not the biggest deal. Even the seat change, it’s so comfy. Bring out my laptop, watch some Netflix, just sitting on this thing. Can I keep riding? Okay. All right. He actually likes it somehow more than I expected him to like it. He’s just keeps riding. I’m getting so tired. Working up a sweat. No way. I outlast this battery. Yeah. Nice. You like it? I love it. How does it compare to this one? Do you think everything about it smoother? The brakes are like really really like touchy in a nice way. Did you try the horn? No. Can I try it? Yeah. Okay. Well, what do you think? They’re like sisters. They’re not twins. Yeah. Yeah. Uh I just remembered a very important thing. Matt was asking about the back sweep on the bars. It’s just that throttle is so smooth and it delivers the power so flawlessly that this one feels a little uh a little hyper by comparison. The other thing I forgot to mention is I think Raar has an app. They had an app for this bike. I assume it works for that bike too. You get a lot of the benefits of like an upgraded controller where you can tweak like throttle response, power, stuff like that. I think every single bike should come with that from the factory. Even if it’s not a super powerful bike, the customization is what everyone wants. Is it quick? This has to be faster than it was at the expo. I I think it might be. Okay. Be careful. Be careful. Two. Like, how fast did you get up to? 51. And I was like, “Oh, no. 51. You let off. It’s supposed to go like 65. I can believe it, dude. Riding it, it feels like a 65 mph bike. It’s at 34% and it’s going 51. That’s nuts, dude. Wow, man. Thank you so much for letting me ride this thing. It’s been like a no. Oh, sure. He’s gone. This is going way better than I expected. And I’m nervous something’s going to go wrong and he’s going to figure out what we’re up to. Sounds like a station. It sounds like a station. Yeah, honestly, credit to Raar. They sound pretty cool. They sound so nice. And they’re also really quiet. Uh, which some people like, some people don’t like, but it’s like a super quiet spaceship. You look good on it. And I guess it just looks like your your regular bike. You know what I mean? I feel good. I feel I feel very very different. Okay, that’s great. Do you think you would upgrade? I know you love your current one, but would you sell this just to get that? Cuz it seems like kind of a better version of the bike that you already love, you know? Yeah, I would. I would. I think it’s like I think this is an amazing bike and I think it’s the perfect starter bike and I feel like this one is just like the next step up, you know. Right. Right. Right. Right. I don’t know. I don’t want to drink this like crap right now. I feel like I’m ready to like have a little bit more power. A little more juice. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He has no idea. Oh god. Dude, my butt hurts on this one compared to that one. This one’s so cushy. Let’s see. How are we doing on charge? 24%. Actually, I don’t know if it really matters if it’s on low battery cuz I’m not going to take this bike home. Yeah, you’re going to leave it just permanently with you. What do you mean?
