The Story of Azul Part 3: Water

Everything’s on fire. And I was like, “Okay, the van’s done.” This picture and this story would be across the world in a matter of like 2 days. I heard Volkswagen was going to restore the bus. It’s an almost 50-year-old car. It’s like the famous box of chocolate. You never know what you get. We’ve put those little touches all around. When that wheel turns, you’re going to see your reflection. [Music] She’s beautiful. Oh my god. Hi, Megan. Hello. Nice to finally meet you. Me, too. Wow. She looks beautiful. Like way better than I could expect. She’s glowing. This is the side. This is the side. Yeah. Wow. She’s looks brand new. It opens so much better. Everything looks clean, sleek, beautiful. This is a dream. What’s up, dude? It’s a brand new car. Oh, look at this. They got the sticker. All of this melted, melted, melted. This looks brand new. Gunner and Farland genuinely care and passionate about this bus. I’m just overflowing of gratitude. It’s not about Megan. It’s not about me. It’s about people coming together to bring positivity, to bring hope. I’ve learned through all of this, receiving help and support through Volkswagen, through community. Even though bad things happen, there’s always good on the other side. You have to look for the positive, even in the negative and all the smoke and all the ash. You have to find the blue VW bus.

From a viral photograph to a second chance. Azul reminds us how the power of community can turn a symbol of resilience into hope for the future.
