2026 Jaecoo J7 SHS review: One problem.

This Chinese hybrid SUV has one key problem. This is the JU J7HS, an excellent value plug-in hybrid midsize SUV with quality interior materials, around 79 km of EV only range in my testing, and an impressive 5.8 L per 100 km fuel efficiency with the battery depleted. Yet the brake pedal feels wooden and touchy, and the lane centering is poorly calibrated and snappy. Critically, with 525 Nm of torque, the front wheels easily get overwhelmed and loses traction with a slightly heavier foot on the accelerator, which is downright dangerous in the wet.
