Yamaha Aerox e & EC 06 I New Electric scooter I First Look I BikeWale

The day has finally arrived and Yamaha has taken the wraps off not just one but two new electric scooters for the Indian market. This is the EC06 and this is the Yamaha Aro E. Now this is the sporty electric scooter. This is more of the city runabout a more practical electric scooter. Let’s begin by talking about the EC06 and while the design is quite futuristic, funky, cool looking and quite distinct as well. very evident with this LED headlight over here with the DRL nicely integrated over here. Uh it looks very uh very space age like I like the creases as you can see on the side panel over here. The Yamaha logo sits right over here and then you have this neatly designed crease panel over here creases rather the side panel and a nice pearlescent effect with a turquoise blue inside over here that looks very nice. If you move to the tail section as well, it’s got an LED uh tail light and LED indicators as well. So from the front as well as the rear, it looks quite tang and should offer good road presence. Well, okay. Now, let me get onto the scooter and show you. It’s quite roomy as I’m saying. Um I wear size 10 boots. And as you can see, I’m comfortably placed uh seated on this scooter. It seems slightly high. The handlebar is low. Uh but it seems like a nice uh comfortable riding position for everyday use. You have a lot of space for your pill in as well. Uh this is a nice LCD display. Over here you have all your switches that look decent but not up to Yama standards or quality if you look at the switches on something like an MT15 or an R15. But on the whole, you also have a keyless uh not a keyless rather a multi- combination uh key slot over here and a remote uh switch to unlock the seat. Unfortunately, I can’t unlock the seat because the scooter is locked. But I’m going to quickly take you through the specs of the scooter. And I’ve got a 4.5 kW electric motor that generates 6.7 kW of peak power. And where for the battery you have a 4 kW fixed battery that offers a range of 160 km uh IDC. So you can expect a real world range of roughly 100 to 110. But uh we can obviously say uh or rather conclusively state that once you test the scooter but speaking about that we can only get hands on a scooter in the quarter of next year. That’s when the pricing is expected to be announced. Yama is going to work on setting up the dealer network, the service network for these scooters as well as a charging network. So, it’s going to take some time, but this is your initial, this is what a city runabout uh looks like from the house of Yamaha. But if you are into the sporty scooters, this is what you’ve got. You’ve got the Aerox electric. Now, if you look at it, it looks like the standard AOX, but as you can see over here, there’s no ice engine, no exhaust, nothing. This is where the electric motor sits. So now let me quickly run you through the specs on this and uh it has a 9.4 kW peak uh motor that produces 48 Newton meters of torque and it has 3 kW hours dual battery. These are detachable as you can see over here and uh the range is 106 km uh as per the IDC. So you can expect a real world range to be slightly lesser from about maybe 70 or 80 km uh depending on which modes you ride on. So that brings us to the modes. Then well there are four modes eco, standard, power and boost for that quick acceleration. So I think what Yama looking at is uh targeting the youth who want a very powerful and fast scooter. Uh speaking about power, it makes 12.6 bhp. That’s the BHP rating of uh the motor. Uh otherwise the rest of the scooter is exactly the same. You have a telescopic fork at the front. You have a disc brake at the front and at the rear. Also you find a disc brake unlike the drum on the ice scooter. Uh as you can see quite clearly it drives on 14in wheels. And well if I sit over here it’s got a pretty sporty matchy scooter like riding position. Very similar again to the Aerox uh 155 and it avatar. But on the whole, these are the two new electric scooters from Yamaha that have been unveiled, but it’s still some time away. Uh, but we have to still wait for a few months till Yamaha announces the pricing. So, let us know what do you think about Yama’s new electric scooters. Is it what you expected them to be? Let us know what you are willing to pay for both of these electric scooters and what do you think about the features and other specifications in the comment section.
