2025 Toyota Grand Highlander vs 2025 Honda Pilot | Toyota
The 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander versus the 2025 Honda Pilot. Which of these midsize SUVs
offers more for drivers? Let’s find out. Grand Highlander has higher
EPA-estimated MPG ratings than the Honda Pilot thanks to its available
hybrid powertrain options. Grand Highlander’s larger
standard touchscreen brings added convenience
over the Honda Pilot. Thanks to available features like the hands-free power liftgate and Digital Key capability with an active Remote Connect
trial or subscription, Grand Highlander delivers
greater convenience than Honda Pilot. Now, let’s put Grand Highlander
and Pilot side by side. Grand Highlander’s lineup
consists of five grades for 2025, including the dramatic Nightshade edition. Grand Highlander offers
available all-wheel-drive and available hybrid powertrains. Meanwhile, Pilot has six
grades with available AWD. However, it does not
offer any hybrid models. Grand Highlander can really turn heads. It’s Hybrid MAX grades with
a gray-painted front grille, silver-painted lower bumper chin, and dual exhaust tips
are built to stand out. And the Nightshade grade’s
dramatic blackout look delivers a statement to
the Pilot Black Edition. But back to Grand Highlander, it offers available 20-inch alloy wheels, standard power liftgate, and an available
hands-free power liftgate. On Pilot, a power liftgate is included on the EX-L grade and up, with hands-free access included on Touring, Elite, and Black Edition, which really puts Grand
Highlander in the driver’s seat. Add to that, a cabin in Grand Highlander that gives drivers an airy experience thanks to an available
panoramic glass roof. Pilot has a panoramic moonroof on the TrailSport grade and up. Grand Highlander comes standard
with the Smart Key System and has available Digital Key
compatibility, which requires an active Remote Connect
trial or subscription. While Pilot offers standard keyless entry on the front doors with push button start, it has no Digital Key equivalent. Three-zone automatic climate control also comes standard on Grand Highlander, and it also has an available
heated steering wheel, available heated and
ventilated front seats, as well as available heated and ventilated second-row
captain’s chairs. Pilot offers similar features, including a multi-function second row with a removable middle seat. However, its second row only has available heated outboard seats. Grand Highlander has
an available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and available 10-inch Head-Up Display. Pilot’s available Driver
Information Interface Screen measures in at 10.2 inches, while its available Head-Up Display is significantly smaller at four inches. Grand Highlander comes with a tech-packed Toyota Audio Multimedia platform, which features a standard
12.3-inch touchscreen. Pilot offers only a standard
seven-inch touchscreen and has an available
nine-inch touchscreen. The Toyota Audio Multimedia Interface includes standard wireless
compatibility for Apple CarPlay, which connects drivers to
the apps on their iPhone, including maps, messages,
podcasts, and music subscriptions. In addition, wireless
Android Auto compatibility makes it easy to stay
connected to Android devices and access various apps
and services from Google including YouTube Music and Google Maps. Pilot only offers a wireless connection with the larger nine-inch touchscreen. Grand Highlander also has
a standard three-month SiriusXM trial subscription that includes over 165
channels available in-cabin, and even more on the SiriusXM app, making it easier than ever to
enjoy not just ad-free music, but also sports, comedy, and more. Pilot only includes a SiriusXM trial on the EX-L grade and up. The 11-speaker JBL Premium
Audio System comes standard on the Limited, Nightshade,
and Platinum grades, while Pilot’s 12-speaker Bose equivalent is offered on the Touring,
Elite, and Black Edition. Grand Highlander also includes trials for Toyota’s line of Connected Services, including Safety Connect, Service Connect, Remote Connect, Wi-Fi
Connect, and Drive Connect, while Pilot has available
HondaLink trials. Grand Highlander maintains
a strong focus on safety with Toyota Safety Sense. Every grade comes standard
with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, Full-Speed Range Dynamic
Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. Pilot has Honda Sensing, which offers similar features to TSS 3.0. Grand Highlander also has
driver assistance features like standard Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, while Pilot has the equivalent
Blind Spot Information System and Cross Traffic Monitor. Grand Highlander also offers an available Panoramic View Monitor, along with available Front and Rear Parking Assist
with Automatic Braking, both of which are designed
to help make it easier to maneuver in tight spaces. Pilot has the equivalent
Multi-View Camera System on the TrailSport grade and up, as well as front and rear parking sensors and Low-Speed Braking Control on every model except the Sport. Grand Highlander also offers
available Traffic Jam Assist, which requires an active
Drive Connect trial or subscription, while
Pilot has no equivalent. When it comes to performance, Grand Highlander really packs a punch with a standard 2.4-liter
turbocharged four-cylinder engine offering 265 horsepower and
310 pound-feet of torque. Pilot has a standard 3.5-liter V6 engine with 285 horsepower and
262 pound-feet of torque. But where Grand Highlander
really outmatches the competition is with the combination
of efficiency and power that comes with its hybrid powertrains. The available Toyota Hybrid System offers 245 net combined horsepower, while Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX has a potent 362 net combined horsepower, neither of which Pilot can answer. Plus, Grand Highlander
can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, and offers available all-wheel-drive on gas grades, available
Electronic On-Demand all-wheel drive on hybrid grades, and standard Full-Time Electronic all-wheel-drive on Hybrid MAX grades. Pilot can also tow up to 5,000 pounds and every grade is available
with all-wheel drive. And Grand Highlander’s gas grades have an EPA-estimated
24 MPG combined rating, just beating out Pilot, which has up to an EPA estimated
22 MPG combined rating. Grand Highlander’s hybrid grades have even higher fuel
economy ratings at up to an EPA-estimated 36 miles
per gallon combined rating, or an EPA-estimated 27 miles
per gallon combined rating on the performance-minded
Hybrid MAX variants, making its performance
and efficiency story miles ahead of the Honda Pilot. Grand Highlander brings strong value since it comes with ToyotaCare,
which includes two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, whichever comes first, and two years, unlimited mileage 24-hour
roadside assistance. Pilot includes Honda Service Pass which includes one year or 12,000 miles of scheduled maintenance,
whichever comes first, and three years or 36,000
miles of roadside assistance, whichever comes first. Both SUVs include a three-year or 36,000-mile limited
warranty, whichever comes first, and a five-year or 60,000
mile powertrain warranty, whichever comes first. Grand Highlander’s Hybrid grades also include a hybrid system warranty that covers select
components for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, and a 10-year or 150,000
mile hybrid battery warranty, whichever comes first. Grand Highlander’s impressive
blend of performance and tech, along with its elevated
convenience features and Toyota’s TSS 3.0 safety suite, makes it an SUV built for
today’s discerning drivers. Add to that a range of hybrid powertrains that brings incredible
performance with efficiency to the versatility that
this midsize SUV brings, and Grand Highlander
emerges as a true standout. Discover Grand Highlander
