Are electric motorbikes good! Yes! The BMW CE 04 Ride Review!
Welcome back to the channel, guys. Today we’re stepping straight into the future here. Meet the BMW CE04 electric scooter that looks like it’s been beamed from the future. In my opinion, this is a perfect motorbike, an urban statement piece with the performance to match. It’s got keyless entry, obviously. Got the 10 and a/4 in large screen there. Full TFT display, connectivity and all that. Built-in navigation. And I mean, just look, look at this thing. It’s low slung futuristic design with real sharp minimalist lines. I really like it. The floating seat. Can you see that? Actually, under the seat there is storage for a helmet and the charger. USBC charging port for your phone as well. In terms of performance, it’s going to be quick. It’s uh we got good charge here at the minute. And um as you can see the display, you got multiple options there. All the connectivity you’d expect. I really do like these larger screens actually. Um really clear and look fantastic. But yeah, in terms of performance, 42 house horsepower, 0 to 30 mph in 2 and 12 seconds or so. So, it’s going to be real nippy. Top speed 75 mph. The range is up to 80 miles, I believe, on a full charge. So, this thing is going to be perfect for an urban environment. Let’s take it out on the road. See what it’s like. All right, guys. Here we go. I’m super excited about this, guys. Genuinely, I mean, this is the first electric vehicle I’ve been in. Um, I’ve never been in an electric car or a bike, so this is this is going to be exciting. Obviously goes without saying I can easily flat foot this, so the seat height is is really low, so you got a real stable position. Probably perfect for actually nipping around town and stuff like that. This does feel a bit eerie. There’s obviously a a small engine noise at the moment, but it’ll be interesting when I open it up. But here we go. That seating position is just not quite used to that. Feet forward. I’m definitely comfortable. I will say that. Feels like the sort of thing you could sit on all day with real comfort. So, what we’ll do, if you’re new to the channel, there’s a great road I know that’s just uh a couple minutes away from here that will give this thing a good test of all things slow maneuverability, sharp twisty turnies, and some high speed 60 and 70 mph road. So, it’ll be a good good test to put it through its paces. Got to say, it does feel relatively natural. Um, unusual not having a a clutch, I’ll be honest, but it’s really smooth in terms of how it moves at slower speeds and just getting off the line there. So, right, without further ado, we will catch up at the test road. Here we are, guys. So, the Uturn. Let’s have a look. I got be I’ll be honest. I’m going to put my feet down here because it just feels like a very different sort of seating position to a normal motorbike. I’m just not used to it. Obviously, U-turn was easy in terms of it. It can turn around tight corners. Just a bit unusual, but let’s give it a bit of power here. Listen to that. I was not expecting that. That sounds great. All 42 horses. working excellently there. I can’t get nothing out of this sounds. Look. Sounds great, guys. I love the TFT there. The display of basically what’s happening there. When I come off the accelerator, it’s putting charge back into the battery, I believe. And then obviously when I’m on the accelerator, that bar there is almost like a uh a rev a rev range. So let’s see what it’s like in the corners. Leans in well and plenty of power to to get you back up to road speeds. I love it. Yeah, it feels good. God, look at that. I look this for my first experience of an electric vehicle, this is great. I I would imagine that this is a really economical fun way to nip around an urban environment and also, you know, if you’re going to have take it on a few twisties and enjoy the corners and the power, it does that, too. It’s it’s great. Really good. Love the minimalist design. Really smart. very comfortable in it. Really comfortable seating position. You can move your legs forward and back there. So, there’s plenty of maneuverability with it. We got some super bumps here and it does a great job. The suspension feels great. Does a good job in smooth them out. And we’ll give the brakes. Obviously got front and rear brake here. Let’s give them a test. Oh yeah. Brilliant. Like riding a bike they say. Yeah. Front and rear brake. pull them both in together and this thing stops on a dime. Uh just coming back to the seating position, I this sort of feet forward position I’m in is extremely comfortable. Um you could you could sit on this if you’re if you’re doing deliveries or doing a lot of short journeys where you’re on and off the bike. It’s easy to get on to. Very comfortable when you’re on it. Spot on. indicators and all the um all the gear that you touch, the indicators, the jog wheel and everything like that feel really premium and the way it picks up is brilliant. We’re actually just coming on to well, we’ve got a sort of dual carriageway up ahead. So, that’ll be a good opportunity to see what this thing’s like at higher speeds at the sort of 70 mph range and how it gets there. Uh, I must say from like 0 to 50, this thing is lightning quick. Really quick, and it delivers it delivers that power in a really nice linear way. The the note of the I was going to say engine, but the actual noise that the electric motor makes is really good. It is really good. It sounds really powerful and it gives you a good sense of what’s going on with the power delivery. I’ll just stay quiet as we come on to dual carriageway so you can hear the motor and hear how it works. [Music] So, as you can see, guys, nipping up to that higher speed, 70 mph. Cruising really comfortable here. The power delivery really quick up to 50. Slows down a little bit, 50 to 70, but still very, very quick as you can see. And uh yeah, I mean, in terms of wind, it is relatively naked at the top, at the front. However, it is designed so it’s kind of buffing that air over me. So, I’m in a real nice clean air bubble. It’s not bad at all for obviously sort of a naked machine. Really nice. Easy. You could sit on that and do sort of motorway speeds until the battery runs out in essence. Yeah, really comfortable round the twisties. I love the way this thing handles in the corners. Plenty of fuel. Feels really good. We will head back to the dealership now. This has been quite an experience. Very impressive experience actually. So, we’ll head back to Peterbor Motor here. Well, I must say, ladies and gentlemen, that was an experience. I love the thing. You know, if you’re in the market for an electric scooter, check one of these out. Also, I did notice, but I did forget to say it is belt drive as well. So, obviously that’s going to be super reliable, easy to clean, and obviously maintain as well. All in all, suspension’s good, range is good. Obviously, the TFT is brilliant up there. Looks fantastic. And just the overall experience of riding this thing is great. Love the power delivery. And I love the information on the TFT about your power usage and your charge going back in. Really really impressive and simple as well. Real simple. Love the keyless entry. What a experience. And what a good looking scooter. I mean, look at it. Brilliant looking thing, isn’t it? Good color scheme as well with the silver and the orange. Really like it. Really like it. Guys, hope you found the video interesting.
