SEMA 2025 “Tacoma H2-Overlander Concept” Trailer
We’re back in North Carolina here this week. Trying to convert a truck into a fully
functional hydrogen-powered vehicle. It’s got to be one of the most ambitious
projects that we’ve ever undertaken. Kind of a first that we’re not
just changing the powertrain, but we’re changing the fuel, too. I think with any new technology, any new thing that comes out
there, you get them to see, oh my god, look at the possibilities. You know, in the overlanding space, I don’t know you could pick a
better vehicle than a Tacoma. There’s all these amenities that when
people build overlanding vehicles, they add to them. They add extra power. They add bigger alternators.
They add spare batteries. You don’t need to do that with this vehicle. It’s already all built in. Some of our competitors provide a
lower amount of power that you can use. We can actually power an entire house. There’s no compromise. And I think that’s going to really
kind of shock the overlanding community that we’ve built a hydrogen vehicle that
has no compromise for what they need and even has amenities that they
probably never even thought of. A car that makes water. Has the ability to really kind of change the way that people think about overlanding.
The TRD engineering team takes on one of their most ambitious challenges yet with the H2-Overlander Concept, transforming a turbocharged hybrid Tacoma into a hydrogen-powered trail warrior. With near-silent power and a revolutionary water recovery system, this overlanding machine proves clean energy can conquer the wilderness while leaving only water in its wake.
