Tesway X7 Pro | 100-Mile Range Electric Bike Test & Full Review

This is the Tesway X7 Pro. The Tesway X7 Pro is this awesome stuff over 48vt 60 amp hour battery bike and today we’ll be reviewing it. I’m Wyoming Rider and I review electric bikes and other electric devices in the most rural state in the country. So come along with me on a new adventure. So now let’s go over the specs and features of this awesome bike. First of all, there’s two versions of of the battery for this bike. There’s the 48vt 60 A battery which I have in this one here. There is also a 52vt 60 A version which I do own in the test X5 Pro that I have which is basically the difference between the X7. The X5 is the this is a stepover version of the bike and the X5 Pro is the step through version. And the X7 Pro here does come in two colors. It comes in this beautiful blue color you see here. It also comes in a black color and as you can see here it has 20×4 in tires and these are Kinder branded tires and they have the nice reflective ring around them. And now we’re going to take you up close so I can show you some of the components on this awesome. First let’s start back here with the motor. This is a 1000 W motor and it does peak at 200 W. Yes, this is the single motor version of this bike. There is also an all-wheel drive version of this bike that has a additional motor in the front. this version I have. It just has the single motor in the back. Like I said, that is a 1000 watt motor and is said to peak at 2000 watt. And it has the nice rear suspension here on both sides. Not entirely sure of the travel on that, but it is pretty good. It feels really good. Then it also has suspension forks on the front up here. These are said to have 120 mm of travel. Those seem to work quite well. Next, let’s move down here to the battery. As you see there, this is a 48vt 60 amp hour battery. Has a charge current. Looks like a max of I think it says 10 amps there and a max discharge of 35 amps. So yeah, this bike will get insanely good range. They claim 200 miles. I say realistically, especially around here, you might get half of that in this hilly area, maybe less. Not sure, but uh really hard to test these long range bikes sometimes because I know with my X5, it gets insanely long range. So range anxiety should never be a problem with this bike. Unless you’re planning on making a trip that’s 100 or more miles, you should be perfectly fine. Especially if you just use it for commuting or whatever, you could probably go a month with this thing before having to worry about charging it. It does get crazy long range. All right, just so you know up front, I did get this bike. Uh this is not a new bike. This was sent to me from another person. So, I’m the second one to have this bike and the first person did not treat it very well. So, yeah, you’ll notice there’s a few scratches and things on it and I did have to fix a few things because it was treated very poorly. That is not Tesway’s fault. So, I just don’t want you to fault them for that. But, we’re just here to review the bike itself. And so, yeah, please overlook any marks and scratches you will see on it. And next, let’s take a look at the seat here. This has got a really nice looks pretty soft seat on it. I think the X5 had the same one and I was pretty happy with that seat. Now, it does have a comes with a seat that fits back here with a little back rest, but as you see, I took that off and I chose to put the rear basket on. And I also choose chose to put the uh front rack on. Now, I did try putting the headlight up here, but I like it better down here. And the reason being is uh once it’s down here on the wheel, when you turn the wheel, the headlight’s going to turn with you. But when it’s up here on the rack, it’s just going to shining forward even after you turn the wheel. So, I’d rather have it down there where I can turn it. So, next we’re going to move down here to the brakes. Have these nice Similog branded brakes. I do believe these are four piston. And these are paired with 203 mm rotor. So, this bike will should have excellent stopping power. And cuz you got the same setup in the rear back here with that 203 mm rotor and also four piston brakes. And here’s the brake levers for those. See how those work? Work pretty darn well. Does have these nice rubberized locking grips. I always like these locking grips. They’re the best. And it does have a half twist throttle over here on the right. And the standard 7B shimano shifter you see on most bikes. And this is the little control panel. We’ll get more to that in a minute cuz that goes along with the awesome little color test display which I’ll also show. Also too, it does have these nice uh foot pegs that are optional on there. And I did have them on there, but like I said, that’s made for if you put the seat back here, but don’t really need them now. But I just went ahead and left them on there. Like I said, I did choose to put the rear rack on there instead. take you around to well, let me show you this first. And this is how the uh switch works on this battery. The key does have to be in it if you want the if you want the bike to work and or you can just turn it off and you can pull this seat off and pull the battery out. And I’ll show you here that here in a second. Anyway, let me show you how to take this battery out of here. First, we’re going to go ahead and unlatch the seat there and pull that off. I’m just going to put that in the rear basket there. The plug for the battery is on the opposite side here. So, we’re just going to unplug that. Turn that battery off the way it goes here. Just like that. Now it’s unlocked. And that is a that is a hefty battery. But it does have this little track that it fits in. And I’ll show you there’s a little bit of trick to putting this back in. So I’m going to bring the camera up closer here so you can see this. All right. I hope you can see this because what I want to show you there is got a little hole in this track that it fits in. So you got to make sure you line it up with that. And as I’ve learned myself, you got to only let this battery down to a point and then you got to turn this key. Got to get it lined up here. Sometimes that battery cable kind of gets in the way as it’s doing right now. You let that down till you can see it’s lining up with that hole about right there. And then you turn the key just like that. It’ll lock right in place. Because if you don’t do that, it goes past that point. And then you’ll have trouble getting it to lock in there. And then of course once you do that, you just want to make sure you go back and plug the battery in just like that. Then go ahead and put your seat back on. Lift that up just a slight amount cuz I don’t want it rubbing against the battery. And this does have a nice little pre-release down here for your rear motor. So that way in case say if you get a flat or something, it makes it a lot easier to remove this back wheel so you can uh get the wheel off to fix the flat or change your tire or whatever you need to do. That’s always a nice feature to have. You can see here it does have just a regular cadence sensor. There’s no torque sensor on this bike. And it does have a uh bottle mounting holes here so you can put one of those bottle cages on there. And this does have plastic fenders on the front and on the rear. Help keep the water and mud off of you. And of course, this bike does have some metal pedals on it. Those are pretty nice. And it does have a 52 to chain ring in the front with double guards, which is really nice to have. And we also have just a standard Shimano Turney derailer in the back. I’m pretty sure that looks like a turny to me. And pretty standard gears. I I think these are probably the 14 to the 28, but I could be wrong there. But I think this bike does uh get pedal pretty good uh pedal resistance up to higher speeds, especially having it at 52 to chain ring in the front. But we’ll test all that out. All right, so now we’re going to come up here to the display. I’ll let you know right off the big difference between the one if you buy one of these, the one you will get, and the difference between the one I have here. Like I mentioned earlier, the previous person that had this thing that treated it very poorly. They also packed it very poorly, which lost all the tools and all the the other accessories that should have came with the bike. So, with that being said, I do not have the little NFC cards to unlock the display like you should have cuz it should have two of those and you would just be able to turn this on and you put the NFC card and it would unlock it. I don’t have that, but Tesway was able to help me remove that password that you would have to put in every single time otherwise if you Yeah. Anyway, we’ll just leave it at that. They did help me remove that and I really appreciate that because yeah, now I can just turn it on and I can go I don’t have to type in the password every single time. But anyway, uh let’s start here too. The other thing I forgot to show you, it does have a horn here on the right side. Your standard eback horn. Nothing too too loud or too fancy there. Pretty standard. All right, but here is the beautiful display that comes on it. And this is a really nice looking display. So, first we’re going to hit the I button on here. And that should hopefully scroll through everything. Here’s I’m going to turn this back off because there there’s something very important I want to show you here. So, the first time you turn this on and you want to unlock the speed on this, it’s going to be limited to 15 mph. But if you hold down the eye, you’re going to see this 99 flash. Now, it is unlocked and you’ll get full power. So, very important thing to know. If not, you’ll be going very slowly everywhere you go. All right. Next thing I want to show you, get you over here closer to the control panel. It does have its own headlight button. So, you can do that and turn that headlight on. You can already see it shining against the door. So, not too bad. Pretty good. Let me take you back here and I’ll show you the tail light. I said, when you hit that headlight button, it lights up. And here’s the brake lights. At least in the daytime. Like I said, I will show you these at night. I’m sure they will be much brighter then. I’m going to go through the display settings here. So, if you hit the power button, kind of works like an enter key. Anyway, it’s going to start an odometer here with the information. You hit it once, it’s going to change the trip meter. You hit it again, it’s going to show you your max speed. You hit it again, it’s going to show you your average speed. And the next thing is a very important one. Then the thing that I love to see the most on these bikes does give you the voltage. Right now, as you see, we’re at 53.1 volts. And the next one does show you the amperage of the uh controllers outputting there. It’s always nice to have to. And then there’s a timer. And we’re back to the odometer. And if you use the plus and minus here, you’re going to see there’s five levels of pedal assist by default. Now, I do believe you can change this. Whoops. Accidentally hit the headlight button. Yep. See, there’s five levels. Now, also, if you hold down the minus, I’ll try to show you that here, but I’ll have to back the camera away. Anyway, if you me hold it up on the kickstand here, and if you hold down that minus, it will engage the walk mode. Just like that. And when you’re ready to stop it, just hit your brake lever. You’re good to go. Some other nice things to note. I really love that they put the BMX bars on this bike. Makes it look much better. And I love how high up it sets. sits just right, just like the X5, the same way. And I love both of these bikes. So, they’re really great long range bikes. All right, then. That’s it for the specs and features. There’s anything else that I forgot, I’ll try to include it later in the video. But next, let’s go ahead and take this wonderful bike out and uh put it through its paces and see how it performs. All right, we’re taking the Test Way X7 Pro out for its first ride here. So, I’ll uh meet you down there at the Hill Climb test and uh take it from there. All right. I had to uh already come down here one time and then once I got already down here, I realized I forgot my phone mount. My to put my phone in. So, I had to go back, get that, come back again. So, now we’re already down a couple of% on the battery, but oh well. We’re not doing the range test today anyway. I’ll do that separately in another video anyway. So, let’s try to do this hill climb here. And I think it’s going to do quite well. But like I said, this has a 1000 W motor that supposedly peaks at 2,000. We’ll see how accurate that is. So, going to go up here and throttle only. See how it does. Going down a little bit. 115 and picking that speed again. It does pretty good. Not too bad. Realistically, I see that’s probably more like 1,500 watts or so. But I think we’ll go ahead and uh go this way. I’m going to go down to my shorter speed test area because that should be plenty enough runway for this bike. Reach it top speed. It says uh they say it goes up to 32. So, we will find out how well it’ll do with me on it. Keep in mind, I do weigh 215 lbs. And we’re just climbing up another hill here. And I’m pedaling up this one. Oh, yeah. No problem at all if you give it a little help cuz that’s a really steep hill there, too. Anyway, I’ll meet you down the speed test area. All right. Now, we’re down here in the speed test area, and I got my 360 camera going there as well. And let’s go ahead and test this out. I’m not going to use a drag or nothing on this thing because this bike isn’t really about speed as much as about rain. So, so that’s we’ll test it out with a regular speedometer app and uh see what max speed we get to. Now, if I had the all-wheel drive version, that would be different. Then I would definitely use the draggy device with it, but not too concerned about how quickly this one gets there, but more concerned about how far it gets. So, let’s see how what kind of speed we can get out of it. Throttle only. Let’s go. Already up to 27, 28, 29, 30. And it looks like that’s probably as fast as we’re going to be able to go here. Yep. It’s hanging out around uh 30 on the GPS, 32 on this speedometer. So, it is off a mile an hour or two. So, there we go. Top speed of 30 mph. Not bad. Especially consider the weight of this bike. This bike does, I think, weigh somewhere between 110, 115, maybe around 112. So, definitely not the lightest bike, but not the heaviest either. I have some that are much heavier, but especially for just a single uh gear hub motor. This is doing pretty well. Oh, I just saw 31 there. That was me pedaling. Yeah, it actually did get up a little bit faster with me pedaling on it. All right, just want to show you again out here. in a little bit of flat area here. And right before I started the the camera back up, I was doing 31 again pedaling. So, if you do pedal, it does seem to go like 31, which is pretty darn good, especially for just the single motor version. I’m sure the dual one probably goes quite a bit faster, but not bad at all. All right, we’re going to go ahead and climb up the V8 Hill here, and then we’ll go across on our rough dirt road. But other thing I want you to keep in mind, too, is man, this wind is very strong today. So it may even go a little bit faster in the day there is no wind. But in the winter time here those far and few in between. So that wind blows pretty much the whole winter. Right now it’s coming out of the north and it is really freaking cold. And we’re climbing up this hill. Let’s see. I’m going to let off the throttle and just keep pedaling here around 17 or 18 or so. Not doing too bad, especially for the single motor version and giving the weight of me and this bike. So it’s not bad. And I have my uh camera equipment in the back basket back there as well. So that’s adding another good 10 pounds back there. But it does fit in there perfectly. So keep that in mind. All right, let’s try out this rudeness. It’s been raining a lot. And so this is uh quite wet. Could be very bumpy today. And it is. But this bike is handling it okay so far. This part here looks kind of crazy. Yeah, not too bad. Woo. That part’s a little rough. I think it just bottomed out the front fork there a little bit, but yeah, like I said, this is not really meant to be an off-roaden bike either. So, so for what it is, it’s handling it quite well. Yeah, not bad. Not bad at all. Just pedling on up here through one of my favorite areas. But man, this wind is so freaking cold today. Really working on the battery life, too. That’s another reason why it’s it’s really hard for me to do accurate uh range tests in the winter time because man that the cold here just really works on the batteries. Reduces their battery life by a lot. So, the range here is not always very accurate in the winter time. Rest of the year does really well. All right, just going to do a little more 360 video on this bike so you can see what I look like riding it. Get back out on the road here. Put it on back on up into pass five. And here we go. Get over these bumps here. We’ll see how stable it is. Pretty good. One hand. Let’s try none. Of course, we’re going to lean to one side. I’m having to lean to the right a little bit to balance it out. But yeah, seems pretty steady. Pretty stable bike. Said that camera’s messing with me in the wind, too. Kind of hard to do that sometimes when the wind’s too strong cuz it’s blowing really hard for my right side right now. A very good bike for the price. Should give you a really good range of today. It’s not looking so hot, but that that’s because it’s so freaking cold. And this is why I don’t do a lot of reviews when it gets into the winter time here. Starts to get very difficult cuz the weather gets really unpredictable. Get covered in snow and uh get down to the negative temperatures. And for some reason, my uh speedometer app on my phone is just completely bugged out and shows that we did no mile an hour, no distance. So, all we got to go off of is the display mileage. And it says it’s at 13 miles, but I do believe that I guess it should be right. So, it says 13 miles right now, but at 13 miles, it says we’re already down to 84%, which isn’t good. But like I said, it’s uh I think due to the temperature, but I bet if I get home and put it inside and it warms back up, it’s going to probably go back up to almost 100% again. It’s just a freaking temperature. It is really freaking cold. Ah, seems I lost my uh 360 camera lens cover for from all this crazy wind. It like blew it out of my jacket pocket. Making videos is hard sometimes, especially here in this time of year. Like I said, you see why I don’t do it as much in the winter. It’s very difficult. Hopefully, we get lucky and uh find it somewhere the way back. If not, oh well. Guess I’ll have to get another one. Going back across the rough deer route here. Trying to see if I lost that cover here. Could be down there where I did the speed test, too. Or anywhere in between. Who freaking knows? Last time I lost something like that, it was uh on a trike. It was the uh the basket uh cover and it completely just freaking blew out with this crazy wind and never to be seen again. Never did find it. Probably out in the middle of the field somewhere now. Who knows? Yeah, we get a lot of crazy wind here. Not as much here as you get further down south part of uh the state, but we still get a lot sometimes. Like I said, ours happens more in the winter time. Just gets extremely windy at times. Well, not seeing it yet. Well, I’ll keep looking for it. Well, did not find my 360 lens cover anywhere. So, like that’s uh probably gone forever. Oh well, the pockets one more time, but nope, don’t have it. Oh well, I should have stuck it back there in my bag and lost it. Anyway, so next I want to go ahead and do a quick brake test here and I’ll show you how that performs. All right, here we go. See if we can get up enough speed here. parking lot. Start right over here. Excellent. Excellent brakes. Let’s see if I can get off of this thing. There we go. That is my only problem with a stepover bike like this is uh I do have a little bit of a challenge getting off of them. get my foot over that. This one’s a lot lower than most. I really locked those up. I really didn’t mean to lock them up quite that hard, but I started I think it ended up being about here. I tried to do it there, but I think it locked up about here and went from there. So, probably one at about a quarter spaces. Like I said, it has really good brakes because these are 203 mm rotors. That bike does I think it, like I said, I could be wrong, but I think it weighs around 112 lbs cuz I’m pretty sure that’s what my X5 Pro weighed. And I think this one weighs about the same. So somewhere around that area. When I if I find it down there in the on their website or whatever, I’ll try to remember to put it in the video so you know exactly what it weighs, but it’s somewhere around that range. Fairly heavy bike, mostly because of that big battery. But yeah, excellent stopping power. All right. And looks like we’re we’re having to track it on the uh its built-in odometer because like I said, I I don’t know what happened with this, but I’ve used this app for years and it’s worked great. But all of a sudden after some recent update, now it’s not seem to be tracking the the distance anymore for whatever reason. I don’t know. Anyway, it says we went 17.3 mi according to that. Now we’re at 77% battery. Like I said, I I think this will go up if I put it inside for a while and it warms up. So, keep in mind, like I said, it’s it’s like 40° today and that wind is really really cold. And in this parking lot right here is actually a little warmer than other areas because it is uh not blowing right here. It seems to be getting blocked by a lot of these houses and stuff and these trees. But yeah, excellent between the two though, I still like my X5 better only because the step through and for me having my back issues and issues stepping over the bikes, I just do a lot better with it cuz I can get on and off of it a lot easier. But man, I do love the way the frame looks on the the X7 Pro. It looks really nice. If I were to buy it, I would pay that a little bit extra and get the 52vt battery. I’d probably get the dual motor one. But yeah, it’s still excellent bike, man. It’s going to have really good range. Yeah, don’t let what you see today discourage you because yeah, it is not looking the best right now. And you see it slowly coming up cuz it’s sitting here in the sun and that battery is warming up. But yeah, the cold weather does uh tend to affect the battery life. So, but like I said, once I bring it back home before I do the uh the night portion of this uh video, we’ll see where that battery is setting cuz I’ll do that tonight. And I would not doubt that it’s going to be back up quite a bit. Like I said, it’s already came up to 78% now, just sitting here in the sun. All right, now we’re out here at night so we can look at the lights on the Test X7 Pro. So, first, let me go here and power it on if I can find the button. There we go. Got the display on. Turn that. And as you see, this thing has a automatic lights, which is an awesome uh really awesome option. So, yeah, if it’s dark, these lights will automatically come on for you. So, there’s what the headlight looks like. It’s already set about right. Maybe a little too low. Let’s set it about there, but yeah, that’s looking pretty good. Oh, and look at this. Remember what I told you earlier about that voltage? Yeah. See how they had it in the garage? It came back out. Look at that. Back to 100%. Even more than I thought it would. But it makes sense because I don’t think we really went that far. So, here we go. Man, those tail lights are already really bright. Wow. Let’s do the brake light here. Does get a little bit brighter as well. But man, just the tail light alone looks really good. There’s no turn signals, but that’s okay. All right. Show you that display again. Look at that. Bam. 100%. Which makes a lot more sense cuz like I said, this is a 60 amp hour battery. So, and look at that. There’s where actual mileage is cuz it probably had a few miles on it cuz like I said it was already used when I got it. So it says 18.2 that this is from earlier. Yeah, you can see the date and all on there. It this was some kind of display buck cuz now it’s there. So we went at 11.95. So right at 12 miles so far, so it makes sense that this thing is still at 100% is where it should be. Anyway, the top speed we did it says there is 32.89. So, let’s go ahead and uh get this thing out on the road and see how the lights look out on the road. All right, got here in the road. Go ahead and put it on up in pass five. I already got my mirror set right. There we go. So, let’s see what this light looks like. It’s fairly bright. I forgot the other thing this bike does is really kind of frustrating some is that speed lock thing, but it’s kind of good at the same time. I’ll explain why. Cuz yeah, every time you turn it on, you got to unlock it again. But it’s really easy to unlock. But yeah, it limits it down to 15 mph. And if you forget about there, you’ll be like, why can’t it go anywhere? Anyway, we’re here talk about the lights. And the lights look pretty good. I said, I do wish it was maybe a little bit wider, but it’s plenty bright enough. I can see definitely can see where I’m going, and that’s what counts. Man, is it freaking cold. That’s awesome that the battery came back up to 100%. I knew that this didn’t make any sense. I knew I had to deal with the cold and all because I knew this battery should last a long freaking time cuz I do the one on my X5 Pro like 20 m before it even lost a freaking battery bar. But it has the old screen on it. It doesn’t have this screen. It doesn’t have any voltage. All right, let’s go up the hill here. But yeah, the lights look really good. But back to what I was talking about earlier though with the uh with the speed lock issue. It’s kind of cool though. So, not that you would probably ever have to worry about on this bike because it’s it only goes like 31 32 maybe at the most anyway. So, the chances of the cops arresting you with this is pretty slim. But if they do, you just simply turn it off and on. It’s going to go back to 15 mph. So, just know that. But all you got to do to unlock it again is you just hold down that I button for a couple of seconds and it uh puts it back up to full speed. So, really easy, really simple to fix. But as far as the lights go, man, they work really good. All right, just want to show you one last time. This is what that tail light looks like. Standing a further distance away. Man, that is really bright. Car should have no problem seeing that tail light. Now it’s time for me to give you my final thoughts on the Testeight X7 Pro. This is a great looking bike with great range. Let’s go over positives and negatives. Let’s start with the negative. I had to try hard to find anything negative. My only complaint is maybe the seat. It’s not terrible, but since this is a long range bike, give us a nice premium seat to help us be more comfortable on those long rides that this bike is capable of. The only other thing I suspect some will dislike is having to unlock the speed every time you start up the bike. I don’t mind this feature and is super easy to unlock. Now, for the positives, this bike has good suspension and looks great. The huge 48vt 60 A battery provides plenty of range. I plan on making a range test video in the future when the weather is better. The brakes work excellent. It climbs hills decently and the top speed is sufficient. The additional front rack and rear basket combined with excellent battery life make this bike an excellent choice for hauling cargo or food delivery. It’s also great for hauling passenger with that rear seat and the foot pegs installed. Thank you so much for coming along today’s adventure.
