The Microlino is the bubble car concept reborn for 2025, but do you like it?

Well, I wasn’t expecting to find one of these today. This is the Microlino. And for anyone who doesn’t know, it’s effectively a revival of the bubble car, and it actually comes from the Swiss company Micro, who were the people who brought us the original micro scooters. And just like those iconic Isetta bubble cars of the past, the entire front hinges open as a door. It will seat two occupants and even manages to have a sizable boot. And unless you’re following one of these and can see the individual rear wheels, it actually looks a little bit like a three-wheeler thanks to this extra wide front track. And what a lovely design touch this is with a mirror that’s integrated neatly into the headlamp units themselves. As you probably guessed, it’s electric with a 12.4 kW motor at the rear wheels and a choice of three batteries that offer a claimed 57, 110, or 140 mi, respectively. a top speed 56 mph, independent rear suspension, too. There’s even a heated rear window and a pullback manual sunroof. In this form, the Microlino is actually classed as a heavy quadricycle rather than a car. There’s also a light quadricycle version called the Microlino Light. Those are limited to just 28 mph and in certain territories can be driven by people as young as 14 years old. My first impressions of the Italian-built Microino lead me to believe that it is a quality product. But so it should be because right now getting yourself into one of these won’t give you much change from $18,000.
