What Makes the 2026 Toyota RAV4 XSE Plug-In Hybrid So AMAZING?

What’s up everybody and welcome to the channel. In today’s video, we’re taking a look at the all-new 2026 Toyota RAV 4. This one is an XSE finished off in the Stormcloud color and this one is the plug-in hybrid all-wheel drive. So, we’re out here in Arizona with Toyota. Let’s get right into the all-new RAV 4. See what it has to offer. Taking a look at the powertrain of the allne 2026 Toyota RAV 4. So, this one’s going to be featuring the 2 and 1/2 L inline 4-cylinder engine with a plug-in hybrid technology. So, this one, the overall net horsepower is 327. The engine’s torque is going to be 172. This is all-wheel drive with an ECVT transmission. Can also run on 87 octane fuel. And running on a 14.5gallon fuel tank, you can expect 45 MPG in the city with 39 out on the highway. We also get a 22.7 kWh battery for the plug-in hybrid. Curb weight’s 4,400 lb, payload is 1300, and max towing is 3500 lb. The overall length is 181 in with wheelbase at 105.9. Width is 73 and height is 66.5 in. Ground clearance is also 8.1 in. So, moving on to the exterior styling with the 2026 RAV 4 XSE. So, this is in their sport trim level. The GR Sport will be the top trim. This is basically the one step below it, offering similar powertrain, but a little bit more of a luxury style. We’re going to get a really cool LED headlights with the daytime running lights. And then there’s this nice new hammerhead style upper grill. Gloss black Toyota badge and then the gloss black trim connecting them. Yeah, there’s a really cool style for the grill finished in body colored. There are going to be these silver trim pieces all throughout it. Forward facing camera, parking sensors, a little bit of gloss black trim in the corner along with an LED light. Down below we have a nice gloss black lower splitter with another functional grill opening. It looks really cool. I can kind of see some of the new Camry in there as well with that cool looking grill. Uh big fan. definitely looks really nice. It’s a very bold looking new crossover. You have some sharp body lines throughout the hood fading towards the windshield. And then around the side, we have more of the piano black for those fender arches. You’re going to get a nice set of gloss black 20-in wheels with a multi-spoke look. Parking sensor on the side, nice sharp lines, and then a gloss black trim piece all down below the doors. We’re going to see body colored on the door handles, gloss black mirror caps, integrated camera and turn signal, and this has a full black roof. This one even gets a full panoramic sunroof up above with the gloss black roof rails. You have the nice black trim back there. And then for the side profile, nice proportions overall, similar in size to the older RAV 4, but I like the sharp lines throughout the side. It’s a lot more bold looking car. You have a nice integrated roof mounted spoiler with all the gloss black trim. Third brake light, black trim with all your logos, LED taillights, and then more gloss black and gloss silver for the rear bumper. Got your XSE badge, RAV 4, plug-in hybrid, and all-wheel drive logo over on the far side. So, can’t complain. Definitely looks like a nice looking crossover with cool lines all around. Taking a look at the key fob, we get lock, unlock, trunk release, Toyota badge, and it says RAV 4 on the back side. You can keep the car locked. All you have to do is go up to the car, grab the door handle, it’ll automatically unlock. So, the XSSE trim is going to get a really cool softex interior with the micro suede accents all throughout the seats. And you’re even going to see some blue accents for the door panel. We do have this soft touch plastic up above and then a really nice gray padded armrest and door insert. There’s memory seating. All of your controls for windows. A nice grab handle with a storage bin integrated which is a nice touch. Storage down below. Nice set of all weather floor mats. And then we have power controls on the seat. For the seats, you have the smooth soft text, this blue contrast stitching. And I really love the perforated suede style throughout the centers. It’s a really nice look to it with the colors. You can see blue piping as well, smooth headrest. It’s a pretty sporty yet luxurious looking seat. Then we just have a nice black leather wrapped steering wheel with gray trim. And then now inside the 2026 Toyota Rav 4 XSSE, keep my foot on the brake and go ahead and fire it up. This one’s going to get the comfort access. So the seat automatically slid forward. And then we have both your screens are going to roar to life. Got your Toyota badge in the center, controls on the left side for audio, screen controls, cruise controls over on the right. There’s going to be paddle shifters basically to maintain the lower gear if needed. And then we have the stock on the right side for windshield wipers, stock on the left for headlights and turn signals for the gauge cluster. Has a nice look to it overall with the full screen. We have that full screen nav. Then if I scroll left and right, we can configure it a little bit. You have more of a traditional style, single style, and then continuing into other ones. So nice display with what you’re going to want in a car like this. Over on the left side, we have the power tailgate, interior dimming, some more of the soft touch material, air vents, heads-up display system up above, and a very layered looking dashboard. Pretty unique looking. There’s a nice storage bin over here with more of the soft touch, and then the allnew multimedia screen is very nice. You’re going to get a home screen that is all configurable. So, we can scroll over. We have drive mode. You can also toggle, which is a pretty cool touch. It all changes the colors for the backlight of it all. So, pretty cool display overall. You’re going to see more apps that are all configurable. So, really nice layout. Full screen nav, of course, we have audio, phone integration, and then for the plug-in, you’re going to get some of your battery information as well. Under settings, we can see a few more things throughout the car very easily. And then for the new shifter, for this specific trim, some will have a normal shifter, some will have the small one. So, if I push it all the way up, you’re going to see that reverse camera. So, we have that nice design, top down view, configuring the angle. We also have the guidelines by going to drive. Now, you’re going to get the forward camera all set up. And then tapping the B button, we’re back into park. So, climate control is always going to be down below. We have your heated seats and steering wheel, your temperature, as well as fan speed. So, super easy to use. Temperature is always fixed, which is nice, but this is super easy to use since it’s always there. You have a volume dial, defrost, hazards, and air vents right in the center. And then we’re going to get some nice storage with wireless phone charging. There’s more hidden storage space all down below. And then on the left side, we have drive modes and the EV system. So, if I toggle this, it comes up on the screen just like we saw when we were on the screen itself. And then for the EV button right here, you can toggle on the far left corner, you’re going to see that you can go into a hybrid mode, an EV mode, as well as an auto mode. So, you can drive this fully electric pedal to the floor, which is quite nice. We also have off-road modes for trail and snow. that’s going to come up on the screen with a cool depiction and then of course normal mode. We have extra plug steering intervention for parking. You have the shortcut to camera downhill assist and then this design is nice where it’s very minimalistic comparing it to the shifter. So cool look with all that. Got your parking brake and then some padding material for the armrest. This can open both ways. You’re going to have storage all hidden. So nice to see that. And then if you hold both of them at the same time, we can actually flip this around, lock into place, and we now have a storage area, which is a cool touch that still opens. And then over here, we have a typical glove box with a locking function. One last look at the interior. Now, the all new RAV 4, it’s quite nice. Good use of materials. The tech works well. Tons of storage. And then I really like the XSC’s sporty suede seats. They look pretty cool. Up above, we have that massive panoramic roof sun shade. You’re going to get a sunglass holder, all the glass controls, and then a simple mirror with garage door buttons underneath. And then taking a look at the rear seat space, I can just grab the door handle and open it up. The rear door panel is finished off just like we saw up front. You’re going to get the soft touch up here, and then this nice padding for the insert and the armrest. You’re still going to get the nice storage area for the grab handle, the blue stitching back here on the smooth softex, and then that cool micro suede all around it. So, nice looking back seats. It can seat three people. We can pull this down. You have a nice armrest and cup holders. some good amenities like plugs, air vents. There’s storage behind both of the seats. We can recline these two in two different levels. And then they’re going to fold nice and flat, giving you tons of cargo space and access into the back. So, hopping into the back seat with the all-new 2026 RAV 4. At 5’11, I sit here pretty comfortably. We have a ton of headroom. Even with the panoramic roof design, it’s going to let a lot of light in here. I love the rear windows. There’s a lot of space. I like how these are very thin as well, giving you all that light. Knee room is good with the driver seat at my height. Feet fit well. It’s comfortable back here. The recline angles are both very nice. Honestly, no big deal. Car seat could fit pretty well. I’m sure you might have to move the seat up just a little bit, but overall pretty well pointed back seat. Taking a look at the cargo space now. We can just walk up to it and press the button. Underneath the logo, we have that power lift gate that’s going to automatically pop open. With the seats up, we have about 33 1/2 cubic feet of cargo volume. There’s a nice privacy cover as well. You can even lift up the floor. There’s going to be hidden storage along with a spare tire. There’s a storage net over on the right side along with a power outlet, couple tie hooks, and then we have the JBL Audio in this car with a subwoofer down below. You can also easily remove this by just grabbing it, letting it fall down a little bit, and then we can easily grab these seats, fold them nice and flat, and we’re going to have about 63 1/2 cubic feet of cargo volume. So, definitely a very practical car. I like how the seats all fold flat. There’s no crazy bump or anything weird like that, so it makes it very easy. We have grabb handles up there and then we can just press the button and automatically close it up. All right, so setting off now in the allnew 2026 RAV 4. You do have trail modes in this one. So, it’s nice to see that for that type of driving. And if we just put it into EV mode, normal mode, we’re going to be in fully electric mode and we can accelerate up to speed with no engine. Even full throttle, no big deal. There’s not really a speed limit. You can drive this fully electric, no big deal, which is an awesome touch. So, really cool the way the plug-in hybrid, of course, works with a car like this. I mean, look at that. Full throttle in electric mode. You can see the front end lifting up. So, that is a really nice touch. Now, if I go to the auto, the engine, you will hear kick in and you have that extra power. So, I really like the hybrid integration, especially with a plugin that can go like 50 miles on just the battery. That is really useful. You could literally fill up, you know, once or twice a month with this car and you have like a 600 mile range if you’re just doing long haul driving. So, the integration is nice. The way the screen works, this has been awesome. This is a huge step up from the old one. Feels very much like a phone and Google like altogether. So, I’m really liking the way that works. Overall ride quality, we’re just in normal mode now. You know, it’s pretty comfortable. You have a really good view around the mirrors all do a great job over your left and right shoulder. I mean, plenty of good visibility. So, it’s just a kind of a nice car to be in. It feels like a RAV 4, but it feels so much better than the old one. It just feels like a nice comfortable car. The seats are very well padded. They’re supporting my legs nicely. Armrests are comfortable, too. Steering is comfortable. And the power delivery is really good, especially with the EV power. I mean, this car makes quite a lot of horsepower and really good torque from the drivetrain. And even with the ECVT transmission, not everyone’s a big fan of the CVT in general. this. It makes sense given it’s got the EV system cuz that’s what really is propelling this car. So, it just drives easy and seamless. Even if we go into eco mode, you know, it’s a little bit more conservative with the throttle pedal, but it’s a seamless integration with the engine and electronics, and it is super peppy. So, no complaints with the driving. There’s great storage all around it. Honestly, this would just be a fantastic family car or whatever. I mean, this is kind of something that can do everything. thing is very wellrounded. I like the XSSE. It’s a little sporty without being the GR. So, it’s kind of that good blend of you want a nice comfortable one with all the luxuries, all that, but you know, sporty touch as well. All right, so my honest thoughts with the allnew RAV 4. So, XSSE is kind of a nice normal trim, but also sporty. So, I’m in fully electric mode. I think the biggest plus with a plug-in hybrid is the fact that it can be literally driven in electric. I’m in EV right now flooring it. You don’t hear the engine at all. So the engine will not kick on, which is awesome. So if you’re just moving it in and out of your driveway, garage, going to the store, down the street and back, I mean, knowing that you have 50 mi of range, you could zip it around town, little stuff here and there, and never even use your gas. So I think there’s a lot of benefit to that. And also the benefit is the fact that you have some good power. If we go to the sport mode, you know, now you have some serious get up and go for a family crossover. So, up to 70. Pedal to the floor. Not really any torque steer. That’s right up there. It moves well. Again, this isn’t a sports car. It’s nothing crazy, but a naturally aspirated four-cylinder with this EV system. It gets up to speed very nicely. So, really impressed to see just super good power delivery. And then with the transmission and everything, it does well. even especially being all-wheel drive, delivering the power really well. Now, overall ride quality, we’re on a noisy bridge right now. So, you can hear that like a typical car once we get off of it. You know, not bad. Just kind of typical. And the engine, aside from pedal to the floor, you don’t hear it. Even if I go into electric mode versus engine mode, you know, the engine is super quiet. So, overall, it seems to ride nice. The suspension is comfortable. It handles turns very well. I just got out of the GR Sport version, which is kind of the bigger version of this car with more performance aspects with the chassis. That car has a beefed up suspension, and you can tell this is a little bit more like a normal crossover. The GR is a little bit tighter than you would expect. So, it’s nice to see this one have a good ride quality overall, but still is very capable around turns and everything. So, really can’t complain with the overall driving characteristics of the allnew RAV 4. It seems to pack a lot. just a good well-rounded crossover. The plug-in hybrid definitely a good way to go just because you have a ton of power, more capabilities, efficiency is fantastic, and the range is really good. But there is the allnew 2026 Toyota RAV 4 XSE. Seriously, Toyota did a great job on it. The plug-in hybrid, this is a sweet way to go for sure. Bold style all around and a nice blacked out look for the wheels, roof and lower trim. The interior of the new 2026 Rav4 XSE has tons of standard features like a panoramic sunroof and vented seats. I like all the storage areas for the interior of the 2026 Rav4 and the build quality is really good. Plastics feel nice and don’t rattle and the finish looks good everywhere with soft touch points. Driving the new 2026 Rav4 is very pleasant. Comfortable seats and a quiet ride. Suspension is comfortable yet responsive. The power delivery with the plug in hybrid Rav4 is awesome! This accelerates very quickly up to speed and is smooth. The EV power is just awesome for a car like this. In EV mode you can go full throttle even at highway speeds in pure electric. Even in EV mode the new Rav4 is pretty quick. The multimedia is all new for the 2026 Rav4 and Toyota did a nice job with the interface. Very snappy with large tiles and it looked great in the interior. Easy to use and also has very HD 360 cameras. The cameras are also a built in dash cam!
