Resilient Racer Nolan Joins the #65 Crew at Petit Le Mans | Ford Racing
So in 2019, Nolan was eight. He was playing baseball and something was going on. He couldn’t really run anymore. We thought he pulled a hamstring or something, but ended up we got an X-ray and was bone bone cancer, osteo saroma. He had 29 rounds of chemotherapy. So we spent at least 29 weekends at the hospital. So he’s 15 15 now. and we never stopped playing baseball and continues to just I don’t know amaze us. Met up to another cancer family group and found out about the Austin Patcher Foundation and they offered up for us to come out to road Atlanta to watch the race in 2019. We’ve been following them since then and pretty much coming hanging out with them and joining the race weekend since then about four or five times now. to have Ford to bring us out and just really put us up for the weekends. You’re making us really feel like part of the family and it’s just going to really stick in our minds all that we have gone through that you know there’s good days ahead and it’s just really treated us to a really really nice weekend. No way. That’s so cool. Cool. Yeah. Oh my goodness. That’s awesome. You also got to wear it later. Yeah, I’ll wear it. You have to. Yeah. And see if it fits 100%. I’ll wear it. Well, then you need to be really fast. You’re Oh, for sure. You’re representing us now. So, please be in front. Pedal to the metal. Exactly. Exactly. No mercy. They brought me and showed me all the different like things that the engineers do and then what they do to get ready for the the race. and they showed me all through the uh like the trailer and all that stuff. And they brought me to my locker which had a a race suit in it. So that was cool. The the engineer team 3D printed me a steering wheel. That was pretty cool. I I would never think I’d be like doing something like this. It’s just insane to me.
Ford Multimatic Motorsports shared the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale with Nolan, who is part of the Austin Hatcher Foundation and the series’ Resilient Racer program. Nolan was geared-up and ready for a full inside experience with the Rolex 24 At Daytona class winning No. 65 Mustang GT3 of Christopher Mies, Frédéric Vervisch and Dennis Olsen. From signing autographs, firing up our Mustang to taking part in the pre-race Petit Le Mans ceremony, Nolan was our honorary fourth driver and a warm addition to the Ford family at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
