These 5 Electric Cars Will Outsmart Tesla in 2026

Now, Tesla is known for being light years ahead in the way they design and manufacture cars. However, these five new cars coming in 2026 will challenge them to the extreme. Today, I’ll be exploring exciting brand new electric cars that we’ve never seen before, ranging from the boldest design to the most unusual and one that I think fits in a whole new category altogether. Later, I’ll reveal what I believe is the car that will be the most disrupting to the whole industry, forcing car makers like Tesla to level up, and it’s from one of the legacy brands, too. These are all coming to the UK as well. So, we should be seeing them on the roads before the end of 2026. So, let’s get into it. First is a car from a brand that needs to prove themselves the most in the EV industry in my opinion. The problem here is the car that’s being released already have a few competitors in this space that are really well established. Most notably, the likes of the VW ID7, the Hyundai Ionic 6, Pstar 2, and the BYD Seal. So, entering this space will not be easy. It’s the Mazda 6E. Mazda’s second attempt in the modern era of an electric car after unfortunately the first didn’t do so well. Check out my other video on that as to why. Mazda has chosen a sporty yet luxury saloon car instead of releasing one of the thousands of SUVs that are available on the market. So, I’m glad they’ve done something slightly different here. Their whole press about the car is combining technology and craftsmanship. So, they want to appeal to those that love the Japanese approach and those that love tech. They also talk about unity of car and driver with the driver ccentric focus for the position of the seats and the dials embodying Mazda’s sense of harmony between the driver and the machine known in Japan as jinba itai. The interior is intended to be spacious and calm with a minimalist cabin that’s intended to be open and inviting as well. Based on the Japanese concept of ma or the beauty of an empty space whilst being a four-door saloon style car, Mazda has emphasized the sportiness of the design with couplike styling, low roof line. It’s got frameless doors, panoramic roof to enhance its driver focus and sports credibility. So, what are the stats that we know so far about the car? We know it’s capable of towing up to 1500 kg. It’s got 466 L of luggage space in the rear and over 1,000 L with the seats folded flat. And it’s got a 72 L front storage compartment as well under the bonnet. It’s got aerodynamically designed 19-in wheels that we’re commonly seeing now in electric cars. Inside there’s a 14.6 in touchscreen paired with a 10.2 in driver instrument cluster and a head-up display with all the safety technology that we’re used to seeing by now. It’s got a 14 speaker sound system and up to 342 mi of range. Now, why do I think it will truly disrupt the market in 2026? While Mazda are all about driving feel, I love the focus of the design and ethos behind it with this car. meaning that the fact that it’s electric isn’t being advertised too much. I think rather than appealing to the mass market, Mazda has designed an electric car that appeal to their true fans. They appeal to a niche audience and happen to be appealing to those who just want to switch to an electric car. The car adds also a lot of luxury features to the mix as well. It does have an awesome design, I think, especially in the interior. It looks really high quality, as you’d expect from Mazda, while still having that core Mazda DNA and having that driver feel and focus. So, when is it expected to be released? Initial estimates are early to mid 2026. So hopefully by summer they’ll be popping up in dealerships all over the country. And what about the price? Well, estimates are that it’ll be around4 to£46,000 that it will start from. H unfortunately, I think Mazda might struggle a little bit with this in terms of volume of sales. And they’ve got a lot to prove when it comes to electric vehicles after their first vehicle was a little bit of a disaster, but it really does look the part with a cool striking design. And it’s entering a new phase for another Japanese car maker. This car maker is also basically starting again from the ground up where we’re expected to see seven new models by 2030. This one in particular is coming first and it’s an SUV going to compete with the likes of Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioni 5 and Scoda Enyak. Now the Honda Zero series is completely new platform designed from the ground up to be electric. The Honda Zero SUV particularly emphasizes a loungelike environment, autonomous driving and clear all round visibility. Honda say it’s inspired by their space hub concept car revealed a couple of years ago, but a little less boxy and guided by the thin, light, and wise philosophy. Honda also talks about robotics with this with the Zero SUV and mentioned their iconic Azimo robot, something I remember seeing as a kid 20 years ago when I went to visit the London Motor Show. This car will showcase the Azimo operating system and really stamp down on what current cars have already, which is something like overthe-air software updates, ADAS, and advanced infotainment systems. So, Honda have now introduced level three autonomous driving with this Honda Zero SUV, which means that drivers can have their eyes off the road and the car will take over as they do other things. According to reports, it has a battery size between 80 and 90 kW hours and a range of around 300 mi. As you can see, it’s got a very open feel to it with glass everywhere in the panoramic roof and windscreen that goes quite far back. It’s got an interesting steering wheel, too, with multiple screens hugging the driver and passengers and making it look like a deck on a spaceship. So, why do I think they will truly disrupt the market in 2026? Well, first of all, look at it. It’s like a jacked up version of a Polestar 3 or a Volvo XC30, but with a much more minimalistic, futuristic design. It’s a rare steer bywire driving system, meaning the car’s steering wheel isn’t attached to the wheels in any way. And we only see this now with a few cars, notably the Cybertruck. And also, Honda had to start again with their EV lineup and designing a new platform because their first electric car of the modern era, the Honda E, really looks the part, but didn’t deliver on range. So, they really went bold and leapt forward into the future with this design, which incidentally is why it’s called Zero, which reminds me a bit of the Lincoln Park album, which is from Zero, having started again with a new singer. So, when is it expected to be released? Honda say sometime around summer 2026, and it’s expected to be around £45,000. But what do you think? Does it compete well with the likes of already established Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioni 5, and Scoda Enac like I talked about earlier? Now, this next one is huge because it’s what this company is describing as a rebirth for the brand. We’ve seen them quietly sitting in the background for a while with depleting sales numbers. But in 2026, they are back. They’re now coming back with their most ambitious and most expensive car ever. This next one isn’t just about the car that Jaguar are releasing. It’s about the brand and the new era they’re entering. Now, this allect electric, allnew GT four-door car that we don’t know much about at the moment, but it will be sitting on the brand new Jaguar electric architecture platform. It’s been described internally as the successor to the Eype, which is big, bold claims from Jaguar. But when you see the proportions of what we’ve seen so far with its lows slung, long bonnet and small kind of cabin, then you’d hardly be surprised to hear that they’re going very much so in the modern luxury direction as well with a much lower volume being produced, but at a much higher price than what they’re used to with a much more exclusivity feel to it. They’re moving away from any range anxiety. And even this car now has capabilities of adding 200 mi range in just 15 minutes. So they’re confident that any kind of anxiety, charging, or range will not be an issue at all. What do we know? So far, well, reports say that it suggests starting from around £130,000, making it obviously the most expensive Jaguar ever. It’s got a claimed range as well, up to £430 mi, and it sits comfortably on a new platform, which will also accompany two more models from the Jaguar lineup, which we’re expected to see a large SUV and a more of a saloon car coming next year. Even though we’ve not seen the final version yet, over 32,000 people have already signed up as interested. I mean, so far, we’ve only seen wrapped versions that they’re trying to hide and obviously the concept car as well. Now, here’s why this one matters, and I think why it will disrupt the industry so much. Because Jaguar know that it can’t compete in the mid-segment market anymore. The IPACE was good, but it sat between Tesla and Porsche, and it wasn’t really quite good enough for its time with its poor efficiency as well. So, they’re going up market now, just like the Range Rover models in their Land Rover lineup. This new GT car is a proper Grand Tourer, nothing like anything that’s ever really been released before. So, when is it actually coming out? Well, later this year apparently Jagu will release a close to production concept car and delivery is expecting in 2026 sometime. It’s resetting the brand’s DNA altogether. The only problem here is the price and the uncertainty about the brand reliability as well. So, let’s see about this. Now, if that doesn’t get you excited enough, what about something from a brand that have revitalized even the redesigned model of an 80s classic that we’ve seen before? Yeah, this one’s very different. Now, before we get on to that, if you’re enjoying this video so far, please hit the subscribe button as it massively helps out my channel. Hit the subscribe button and I’ll see you on the next point. Now, this little French brand recently made their own version of the newly revived Renault 5 and came out with the A290. This is a first from the manufacturer and I think it was an excellent marketing trick to boost immediate presence for their brand. They took an already boldly redesigned cool car and modded it essentially. Alpine are a Renault subbrand and have been around for many decades now. Now, they did have a break for about 20 years, but they recently came back with a cool Lotuslike tiny sports car called the A110. Now, this upcoming car is a rival for the likes of the BMW EX-2, the Audi Q4 Ron Sportback, and even the Porsche Macan and the Hyundai Aionic 5N for the handling and performance point of view. Now, the A390 is a new bigger SUV comes sports car that kind of blends the petrol fueled A10 with the A290 to make it a true driver’s car and it’s all electric. So, they want to emphasize lightness with the A390. It’s a sport fastback and I think it’s kind of a new era and a new way of designing a car. Notice no use of SUV in the wording here either. And Alpine are making it all about performance and how it handles. It’s got an F1 inspired front wing and steering wheel. It’s got a feel at one cockpit with overtake button and track mode. It’s even got telemetrics coaching to improve your driving and track times. Really leaning into the motorsport brand with this car and blending it with versatility. So, the stats that we know so far, it’s got 470 horsepower and up to 824 Newton m of torque, does naught to 62 in 3.9 seconds, quite a big 89 kWh battery, up to 190 kW rapid DC charging, and around 345 mi of range. The GTS trim gets Nappa leather or Alcantara covered bucket seats. The infotainment is a 12-in vertical screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. And there’s a 12.3 in digital display, too. Now, why do I think it’s a disruptor to the industry? Well, because it’s really leaning into the performance and racing heritage of the Alpine brand, first of all, we’ve hardly had any dedicated performance cars that aren’t from supercar brands yet in the electric car space. And Alpine are leaning into it so much that it’s actually been described as a racing car in a suit. That’s what Alpine say themselves, by the way. It even has active torque vectoring for incredible cornering capabilities, all-wheel drive traction, and three electric motors. So, when will it be released? It’ll be open for orders by the end of this year in 2025 and expected deliveries in spring 2026. Prices are estimated to start around £60,000 for the GT model and £70,000 for the GTS model. Now, before we get on to the biggest disruptor in the industry, there’s a few honorable mentions that are coming out next year that are really innovative and cool. There’s a new Fiat Panda that’s electric, the Hyundai Ionic 3, and even the Cadillac L, which is not really worth mentioning too much, but it is apparently coming to the UK and having a whole relaunch of the Cadillac brand here in the UK. Now, finally, this car is from one of the legacy brands, and it’s a car that’s actually been around for a while now, but now redesigned completely from the ground up for next year with a new evolved design language that we really need to talk about here. So, let’s get on to it. Now, BMW aren’t new to electric cars. They’ve been around since 2013 actually with the i3. So, they should now know what they’re doing, which is why I chose this next car because it’s from such a big brand, making such bold moves and really making range not an issue at all. The new iix3 is a gamecher and here’s why. It’s the first car off of the German brand’s newer class models and their design lineup. The aim for it is to be as innovative as possible. Technology that enriches the driving experience and at the same time BMW want to act responsibly with a lot of recycled content and engineers have actually designed and focused on making the car easier to dismantle at the end of its life. It’s also got sixth generation 800vt battery and driving technology with BMW’s efficient dynamics to make sure that they have to get the best efficiency out of their cars as well. So they’re really pushing the whole environmentally friendly theme here. So what do we know about the car so far? It has a range of up to 500 mi, up to 400 kW charging power, making the 800vt architecture capable of adding 257 mi in just 10 minutes. There’s a panoramic iDrive system as well for the driver and passengers with the BMW heart of joy and the optimized driver assistance systems as well, which offers a new level of driving pleasure according to BMW. All this new tech boasts BMW’s processing power, which is 20 times of its predecessor. Now, why do I really think this is a Tesla killer and why it will disrupt the market next year? First of all, it shows serious commitment from a big brand and legacy car maker. They’re coming in with a new futuristic design and have steered away from that iconic massive grills that we’re seeing grow bigger and bigger. They are apparently being more environmentally responsible and designed things properly from the ground up to be as efficient and recyclable. And it’s a proper daily driver that’s luxurious, packed with features, and I’m sure it will handle well like you’d expect from a BMW. So, I think it’s the perfect blend of futuristic design, practicality, performance, and luxury. And that brings me on to price. Despite all of this technology inside, that massive range, and a new design language, the BMW iX3 is rumored to be coming out as soon as March 2026, and prices start at just under £60,000, which makes it a lot more exciting and a bit more affordable than some of the other cars on this list. So, I can’t wait to get behind the wheel soon. Which one do you like the most out of this list? And did I miss any out? Thanks so much for watching. Watch this video next and I’ll see you on the next one. Peace out.
