Super Light, Super Powerful: The Mihogo Air Electric Bike Review!
Yeah, this is pedal paradise here folks. 32. We hit 32. Three, two, one. Well, hey everyone. Monkey Wrench Mike back with another electric bike review. This is the MiGo Air. It is a new bike from a new company. I have not seen one of these, but I’m really excited about some of the features. Let me tell you about just a few right here. This has a super light carbon fiber frame. It has integrated daytime running lights. 90% of the wires are hidden and it has a dual arm torque sensor. Never seen that before, but I’m really excited about trying it out. So, like we always do, we’re going to take it out of the box, put it together, take it for a spin, then we’re going to grade it on fit for function. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. Heat. Heat. [Music] Here it is all put together. And immediately immediately I was drawn to the paint and the way there’s it’s just a beautiful frame. It really is. You can pick it up by this. The whole frame itself, like I said, this is a Japanese toé T800 carbon fiber. This the frame is 7.7 lb. That’s all. The bike itself just weighs 59 lb. And that’s with two batteries. Look, you’ve got one battery here, and then you’ve got another battery right under your seat right here, which I think is so so so cool. All right, now here’s what you get in the box. Of course, you get your battery charger. This is a little bracket. I don’t know what it really does. You get a sales brochure here, your user manual, and you get a nice little tool kit with kind of the, you know, I call this the Swiss Army knife of tools. You get a little tire uh little glue, you know, for your patch if you get a flat tire. You get one wrench and you get two keys. Don’t lose the keys because you have to take this battery out to charge it. There’s nowhere in here to charge the battery. That’s something else I’ve noticed. Okay, so that’s that’s kind of a minus one for me. But the look and the feel of the bike is fantastic. Yes, they say this is leather. I don’t know. probably man-made leather. I don’t know. But it looks great. The color is fantastic. You can get it in this color. They also have what they call a yellow color. It’s more of a off-white/tan color. But this this is the one for me right here with the wheels and the tires and the striping right there on the side. Love it. Love it. Love it. Okay, so we have a 750 watt motor right here. Two batteries, like I said, right there. 921 W hour combined, a range of 121 miles. This thing will carry 300 lb. That’s your max load. You have four piston hydraulic brakes. Yeah, four piston hydraulic brakes. Uh this is the dual arm torque sensor. They say this is a 23% increase in battery life because of what lies behind here, a dual arm torque sensor. They’re changing things up in the bike world. Way to go, Mio. I think that’s really, really cool. You have now what I really like about this. Let me show you the power. But notice the white and notice the red. Let me see if I can get this to turn on. Those are running lights and your tail light. Okay. So, you have a light button right here. So, there’s that. Well, I got to figure out how you do this, though. How do you turn it on? Okay, this is this is what your LCD screen looks like right here. Okay, these now we have pedal assist 1 2 3 4 5 like every bike. Okay, then what you also have if you download the app and you plan your route, this will kind of divide the screen will divide and it will tell you where to turn right and turn left. This talks to your phone even on the go and you can monitor the bike from inside your house or your apartment or whatever. So yeah, that’s that’s something to be very very proud of with your electric bike. Okay, this is your headlight. I don’t know what I think about the placement. It’s going to be up higher, so it’s going to go further, which is nice. All of the other bikes put it down there on the fender. Mo wants it up here. That’s where it shall live. I think it’s going to be great. I don’t know what this actually does right here. Okay, this is the tester for the battery. Okay, so I think we do need to charge the battery a little bit. This is your second battery right here. Here we go. Look at that. Look at that. So cool. So very cool. Okay, we’ll put that back where it’s supposed to go. There it is. You get the rear rack right here. Max load 33 lbs on the rear rack right here. And you can get baskets and bags and a front basket and all kinds of stuff. All that’s on the website. All right, we’re back with the settings. Supposedly, if you hold this plus button right here, this will turn on. There you go. Daytime running lights. I think that is so cool. I really, really do. Oh my goodness. Okay. And then, yes, on the other side right there. And then you can go into the menu settings and you can raise the speed limit and the brightness and all that kind of stuff. You can do that all through here, which is really, really cool. And it lets you know that your daytime running lights are on right there. Look at that. And then you have your normal light right here. There it is. And yes, the handlebar, you can adjust this. It will go up and then you can twist this however you want it. So, this is going to be super comfortable, super easy to ride, and I am super excited. Okay, let’s go see what this Carbon T800 frame is all about. 7.7 lb is what the frame weighs. Now, I will tell you, um, I think the kickstand needs to be a little bit longer because if you’re on any kind of a slope or anything, the bike does want to topple a little bit. So, I had to come over to this side of the street um, so it would stay upright. But look how they have this colorcoordinated to your leather handles and your seat. This is the um instrument cluster right here. This is your screen. You can go up and down in pedal assist right there. And I think you have your light button, which is right here. Turn on the lights. And you have your horn right there. So, let’s turn on the lights. And let’s see if we can get these daytime running lights going, too. Oh, I got to plug in the back battery. I forgot about that. Okay, there it goes. Okay, we got the back battery plugged in, which I think is fantastic. You got the front battery right here. Push this button. Fully charged. Everything is good to go. This is so cool. Well, it’s a different feel. I got to tell you that. The thinner tires, you can feel it. I’m not saying that’s good. I’m not saying it’s bad. It just feels different. You’re more connected to the road, I guess, is a good way to put it. This is uh pedal assist 3. We’re going to do a brake test up here when we get to the shade. All right, here we go. Three, two, one. Well, okay. Good job, little bike. I I kind of like that. It is very quiet now, as we’re going around the corner here. Okay. I always check to see if the pedals hit the sidewalk as you’re turning. These do not, so that’s another bonus. And I already love the grips and the part the extension right here makes it very, very comfortable. Okay, we’ll change some gears. Gear changes are nice. Okay, I’ll tell you more about this uh torque sensor. It’s a dual torque sensor and it it it increases battery life way more than a regular speed sensor or a regular single torque sensor, which I think is fantastic. And look at the give as I wait for this car to go by right here. Look at the give of the front bike. So comfortable. All right, this is the suspension test. We’re just going to kind of coast down here and see what it’s like. People do look at you when you’re on these electric bikes, especially when you’re going uphill and you’re not having to pedal. This is 15 miles an hour. She wants this. [Laughter] I even like the saddle. It’s comfortable. And because these are, you know, these are not off-road tires, you know, these are more urban tires. They’re very quiet, but it’s such a good-look bike. This is a poser. This bike is a poser. She likes to have people look at her cuz she’s gorgeous. She really is. And she’s very light. It’s like dating a model. People look at her. Nice job. Very nice job. Okay, so let’s go to pedal assist 5. Let me get into top gear here. You know, I’m equally as comfortable pedaling on the bike as I am using the throttle. It’s such a nice riding position. And like I said, it’s totally adjustable. So, if I want the handlebars to come up a little bit, they will. Okay, this is Torque Hill. This is all bike. We’re going to test out her torque and see how she does. Anything above 12 is good. 750 W motor is what we have below. We’re going 16 15 mph and even in the sunlight. I mean, it’s around noon and there’s a lot of sun right here, I can see this display loud and clear. I see exactly how far I’ve gone. You got the total miles. You got your trip mileage, pedal assist, battery life, and miles per hour. We’re still at 13. Jeez, just cruising up here. Okay, I like this. This is so easy to ride. 13. Solid 13 all the way up through here. So, super nice. We’ll do some pedaling right through here. Let’s go have some fun. Now, those are the basics. Everything else is just a bonus because uh depending on the bike, the route difference is different. Okay. So, if it’s a really fun bike and I want to test the top speed, we go down my speed hill. If I don’t trust the bike, I don’t go down the speed hill. I think we’re going down the speed hill on this one because she seems to be she seems Look at her. Look at this. Yes. Absolutely. even pedaling. And I just met her. Look at that. Good job bike. I need to give it a name. This paint is fantastic. I don’t know what you call this. It’s not really a copper. It’s a modern. I don’t know. It’s gorgeous. It really is nice. And then you have the tires that match the leather seat and the handles. Here we go. All right. This is 16 17 19 21 22 23. Holy moly, she wants to go. 22 23 26 27 28 29 30 31 32. We hit 32. Now we’re down to 28. Oh my. This is This is very stealthy. That’s a good word for it. She is very stealthy. You don’t expect her to go so fast. You don’t expect her to be so powerful. And you don’t expect it to have two batteries and over 120 miles in range and brakes that are nice and quiet. I like it. I like this a lot. It’s very Californiaesque. Like I said, it’s a pretty bike. It likes to pose. It likes to be seen. It’s very stylish. Now, this um dual torque sensor. So, there’s like little torque sensors on both sides. It increases your battery range by 25% off a regular torque sensor and 105% over your regular speed sensor. So, you’re going to get way more mileage out of your battery. It monitors the battery level and it just makes it perform so much better. I’m pedaling. I don’t even have to pedal, but it is so comfortable. Even going up this hill. I don’t do this on bikes. Usually I I make the bikes do all the work, but the ah the seat the saddle is nice. I’ve got the seat adjusted. I could go up just a little bit more, but it is such a comfortable position. And I love the fact that they’ve integrated, you know, your rear light. You have those daytime running lights. I think it’s great. And it’s quiet. Sometimes brakes after the first mile or so will get a little squeaky. These these are quiet. Okay, I’m pedaling again. Mike, you don’t have to pedal. Let’s let the bike do some work. See, she wants to go. She Oh, this could be a keeper for me. This really could. It’s so easy to get on and off of, too, because of the uh step through design. You can take both of the batteries out. You can charge your phone. You can get a phone holder. You can charge your phone while you’re driving or biking rather. And they have an app. Mo has an app and if you put in your route, you can Bluetooth that route to your LCD um your display right here. And it’s going to tell you turn, turn, go straight, whatever. It’s going to tell you what to do. I’m pedaling again. This is the bike you want to get if you want to get into shape. It’s just so much fun to pedal. That’s it. A little bit of a hum from the motor. That’s okay because we’re going up a really, really steep hill. This is 13 miles an hour. And look. Oh goodness. Yeah. My I love it. I didn’t know what I would think about the headlight being right there, but I kind of like it now because if you want to change it while you’re, you know, in route, if something’s coming up on the road, you can adjust it a little bit here and it’ll be f. We’re even coasting coasting at 19, 18. And I feel like I don’t miss the rear suspension. I feel like the saddle has enough cushion that it’s going to be just fine for me. and the front suspension. Yeah, you can adjust it. You can lock it. You can do what you want to with it. Let’s pedal some more because that’s what I like doing. I need to get back in shape. Let’s do some gear shifts. Yeah. Oh, this is nice. So, if you do want to go up a hill and you don’t want to use the battery, the bike doesn’t weigh much at all. You can do that. Or you can use the battery and just let the bike do the work. But you’re gonna want to pedal. Yeah, this is pedal paradise here, folks. Pedalman’s paradise. What is this? Sixth, fifth gear. And you can stand up. Nice. Before we get to assigning those grades for fit, form, and function, forget about everything I said on this kickstand right here because you can adjust it. All right, you take a screwdriver, you go back through here, you loosen it. There’s a little bolt right here, and you can adjust this out probably 2 in. So, I went 1 in and when I first parked the bike here, it would fall over. Now, it stands up perfectly. So, yeah, you get a screwdriver and you’re going to be in great shape right there. Okay, now let’s grade this on fit, form, and function. Fit is how the bike was packaged. And was it damaged or anything? Nope. It was in good condition. No problems at all. I don’t have any scratches on. Look at this paint. Look at the paint. They’ve ground out all of the weld spots. You have these little cutouts right here. Mo signage right there. And here as well. It is a beautiful, beautiful bike. I love it. I love the brown, the color, the white walls or actually tan walls, I guess you could call. The wheels right here, and even the fact that the instrument cluster, the screen right here matches the bike. It’s It’s what do they say? It’s chef’s kiss. Yeah, it is perfection. So, absolutely, we’re giving it an A on that form. The way it looks, give me a whistle. Yeah, this is a beautiful bike. It really, really is. I mean, I love the h it is just so gorgeous. Other than the colors and the just the style of the the the bike, the handlebars are nicely curved. The fact you can raise them and adjust them. And you’ve got a bike rack back here. Um you’ve got uh 33 lbs you can put on the back right here. So for your books or whatever. And you can get all kinds of accessories as well. There’s a a front basket, a rear basket, bags, whatever you need. You can get a water bottle holder right here. So, you can customize this yourself. A+ for form, function. I actually spent about 30 more minutes on the bike than I showed you guys, cuz who’s going to watch a 1 hour video of me just lolly gagging around on a beautiful bike? It was so much fun to ride. And with over 120 miles of range, because you’ve got one battery here, you got a battery right here, it makes it just an awardwinning kind of bike. I really, really like it. It is comfortable. It is completely adjustable. You have the daytime running lights here. You got integrated rear lights right here. You have your adjustable headlight right there. Everything just goes, it just works perfectly. It is in such good harmony. And you have this special torque sensor right here that increases your battery life and battery ability to keep the bike going, the range, and everything else. So, yeah, absolutely. We’re giving it an A+ plus for the form. It felt like I mean if I wanted more power that would be great, but I don’t feel like I wanted more on this bike because this is the bike. It’s a comfortable pedaling kind of a bike. It makes it just you want to look pretty and you you just want to you want to pedal. So, if you are older, get yourself one of these. It’s going to keep your all of your joints in just working harmony. It’s going to be fantastic. I had no problems at all. I really do like this bike. I’m going on way too much about this. Um, price-wise, like I said, they have it marked down to just under $1,700 right now, and I’ve tested bikes that are way more than that. This is certainly worth it. I mean, it is a light bike. The bike itself weighs. The frame is 7.7 lbs. The bike itself doesn’t weigh much at all. And it is just so, so easy to ride. So, if you’re young, if you’re old, if you had a lot of time on an electric bike or not, this is the bike for you. So, I’m going to have more information.
