Ford Transit Sets a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Title
I am so excited! I am just about to jump
into my van with my family, ready to attempt the
world’s largest van parade ever. This is all to celebrate
our amazing Transit van and its 60th birthday. Now, hopefully
the next time you see me, I’ll be holding onto a great, big
Guinness World Record certificate for us smashing the
longest van convoy record. So, fingers crossed for that! Then, we’ll be off to
Chelmsford Racecourse to the Transit Festival, to really give our Transit
a 60th birthday to remember. Transit is very
close to my heart. When I was a teenager, I spent
my summers in the back of my dad, Peter’s, Transit,
sat on his toolbox. We travelled all over building sites. So, I learned back then
how important Transit is to building up communities, but also providing livelihoods
for families like mine. And now, I work with the
amazing team that design, develop, and manufacture Transit,
the bestselling brand in the world. It’s also great to see so many
of our conversion partners here today. That demonstrates Transit’s
versatility, durability, but also their trust in our product. It’s great to see so many of
our latest models here today, especially with our electric vehicles taking
centre stage in the convoy. Happy Birthday Transit!
Hope everyone has an amazing day. Everyone loves a party,
particularly a birthday party. So it’s fantastic that
we’re here today to celebrate 60 years of Transit. Who would’ve thought
60 years ago that Transit would have become part of the fabric of United Kingdom? It literally keeps Britain moving. A Transit parade will
showcase the best of Transit through the decades. We’ve got Mark I models from 1965,
right through to our E-Transit models heading the row today. I’m delighted we’ve got
customers, business owners, dealers conversion partners, media, our employees, and best of all,
our fans. All taking part to help us
set this Guinness World Record. I hope you have a great day, and thank you for helping
us set this world record and celebrate Transit’s
60th birthday. Today’s been a mixture of emotions,
I would say. The organisation has been
fantastic to be able to fit so many vehicles
into the track today, and to be able to perform
the record to the specifications and guidelines that we’ve set. Now, it took at least one lap to be able to get the cars moving,
another lap to be able to get them going free flowing. And then by that, the third lap,
they were able to be successful in their attempt. And we ended up with
a successful figure of 201 vans taking part. We are record breakers. Wow! Never thought I’d get to say that.
That’s amazing. And what a way to celebrate
Transit’s 60th. I’m completely blown away. So great that so many people could join us. Oh, what an experience.
Really fantastic. It’s just incredible having all these, I mean,
literally 60-year-old vehicles and brand new vehicles. Very enthusiastic customers. Amazing way to celebrate
our 60th anniversary. I mean… Transit, congratulations!
