Calculated Chaos
We’ll be conducting the IHS moderate overlap 2.0. It’s a frontal impact test at 40 m an hour that replicates common head-on collision where 40% of the width of the vehicle is impacted by another vehicle. It includes a front AM50 dummy and a rear AFO5 dummy. The AM50 represents a common 50th percentile male and the AFO5 represents a small fifth percentile female. You definitely still get an adrenaline rush watching a crash. I think the the severity of the impact maybe some people underestimate. You say 40 m an hour and that’s not super fast collision, but when you see it in real life, the intensity of the impact is is definitely there.
Real crashes. Real data. Real protection. @MichelleKhare steps inside the Nissan safety lab, where Nissan has earned a total of 75 IIHS awards since the beginning of the awards program (2006-2025). Watch the full episode to see – link above.
