A large number of automobile and motorcycle brands are offering new models and attractive sales promotions at the BIG Motor Sale 2025 held at BITEC from August 22-31.
While Chinese automakers are penetrating the lower end of the market with low-priced electric cars and hybrids, Japanese automakers are retaliating with updated models with price cuts and features repackaging.
For example, Honda has introduced the 2025 Accord sedan, which now comes with Blind Spot Information (replacing Honda Lanewatch) and Cross Traffic Monitor in every trim level.
Pricing is also down by Bt50,000 for the E variant (Bt1,479,000) to Bt70,000 for the EL (Bt1,599,000) and RS Panoramic (Bt1,729,000).
BYD is attempting to break into the subcompact car market, this time with a plug-in hybrid sedan instead of an EV. The BYD Seal 5 boasts an all-electric range of over 100 kilometers and comes fully loaded with features including 8.8-inch digital driver display, 12.8-inch center touchscreen, digital key and ADAS package.
The Seal 5 Premium is priced at Bt769,900 and will compete against the Toyota Yaris ATIV, which is now also available in hybrid form. The 2025 Yaris ATIV HEV comes with a hybrid system offering best-in-class average fuel economy of 29.4km/l. Prices range from Bt729,000 to Bt779,000.
It will compete against the Toyota Yaris ATIV HEV, the hybrid version from the Toyota subcompact model. Priced from Bt729,000 to Bt779,000, the new Toyota model, fitted with a 111-hp hybrid system, is expected to generate sales of 20,000 units per year for the Japanese automaker.
The highlight at the MG booth if the IM6 C-segment electric car, which is now available in Long Range variant. MG is also hoping to gain grounds in the luxury van market with two models – Maxus 7 and Maxus 9.
Omoda & Jaecoo will be attracting budget buyers to its booth with the Jaecoo 5 EV priced from Bt629,000 to Bt679,000 (Bt549,000 to Bt599,000 for the introductory period).
The Jaecoo 5 has a 221-hp electric motor and a range of 461kms NEDC. There’s a 13.2-inch center screen, 540-degree camera and 1,284 liters of storage (rear seats folded).
Mitsubishi is attracting customers with its new XForce HEV that’s powered by an efficient 1.5-liter hybrid system and comes with impressive off-road capability.
Nissan’s latest product is the Serena minivan, which is available with two different pricing from two generations – mild hybrid and e-POWER hybrid.
XPeng is a high-end Chinese EV manufacturer and it has just introduced the updated G6 electric SUV, available in Long Range and AWD Performance variants. The latter comes with dual electric motors with a combined 486 horsepower and 600Nm of torque, with 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds.
