Emoko C93 Review (forget other e-bikes!)
So, this is the full review of the C93. And in this video, we’re going to be doing a hill test, speed test, talk about the suspension, the features, what I like, what I dislike about it, should you buy it, should you not buy it, a few things you definitely need to consider. So, you will need to watch this video in full. I will try not to make it as long as possible, but it is valuable information. Plus, I’ve been asked countless of times, how do you unlock the speed on this model? So, I’m going to basically explain everything in this video that you should know. So, the first test that I did do was a speed test. Let’s take a look at that right now. Okay. So, here is going to be our first official speed test on the C93. So, we’re coming up to a straight road here. Bit of headwind. We’re going to use throttle only. We are also at a full charge. Plus, I’ve been asked so many times on the first video how to unlock the speed on this. And I’m going to give you instructions on how to do that. But so far, let’s have a look to see what we can get. Bit of headwind. 40 kilometers an hour on the GPS. 47 on the display. 45 on the GPS. Headwind. 48 on the display. 1000 watt brushless motor. No issues at all pushing me. But the headwind here is quite strong. So, the top speed we can get with a good bit of headwind is actually 43 km an hour. Let me turn around one more time and see exactly what we can get. Tire pressure is around 24 PSI on these 20 in by 4 in fat tires, which are probably one of the best ones that I’ve actually ever had. Let’s do the speed test one more time just to confirm. Throttle only. By the way, my weight with all the camera equipment today is around 82 to 84 kilograms give or take. So, 45 kilometer hour top speed 46. We’re still going 49 it says on the display. 47 49 on the GPS. Okay, there we go. So, I can confirm that the speed claims are true. happily. And to be honest, this is probably the most craziest ebike I’ve ever had on the channel. It’s the most cool looking ebike and the most comfortable. Well, the next test is basically the hill test. I use acceleration only. I also perform a pedal only test on different mechanical gears on two different hills. It was at around like 80 to 90% charge at the time of recording and the tire pressure was around 24 PSI and the temperature was quite well that day. Definitely keep in mind my weight is 84 kg. I’ll try and show you with the 360° camera here that this hill is quite steep. I’m already on an incline here. So, what I’ll do is I will simply just do throttle only on the fifth gear. And for reference, our voltage right now is 52.2 volts. So, we dropped two volts so far. So, let’s do throttle only and see what it’s like getting up this hill. One, two, three, go. Okay. Okay. Here we go. Starting on the incline. Tiny bit. One maybe two second delay, but speed is increasing. We’re already at 18, 19, 20 km an hour. 21 22 kilometers an hour. And there we go. No issues at all really getting up a hill like that. Let’s do it one more time. Now, let’s do the hill test using my feet only. We are on the fifth gear electronically. And we are on the third mechanical gear with the seven Shimano gears in total. So, this would be, of course, for somebody who needs to deliver food and they want to use their feet only to conserve, of course, the battery. I will talk about range later, but for now, let’s do this test and see what it’s like coming up this hill again. Okay, so one, two, three. Let me give it a little push. Let me see. Okay. Okay. It’s actually not too bad, actually, once you get off the line. I should have really had the bike on the slip gear number one there. So, I just want to turn around and do it again. So, let me just do this test one more time. We’ll do it on the incline. We are now on mechanical gear one. And even starting on an incline. Okay, now the bike is just getting away because I’m kind of ghost pedaling now. So, if you stick this on to gear four, you’re still kind of ghost pedaling and gear three, gear 2, gear one. But for reference, when you fully unlock the speed on this bike, it’s only gear five that has that crazy top speed of 50 km an hour. So, for example, let’s say again another hill here as you can see. So, let me just use my feet. a bit difficult of course doing it on an incline. So, no issues of course like the other hill. But my advice would be simply press your throttle no matter what gear you’re on. I’m on electronic gear one now. So, you can simply just press your throttle. It gives you that tiny bit of kick. Then just use your feet and away you go. And then change your mechanical gears. So, don’t worry about hills. You have many options there. Use your feet. use your feet with the accelerator or use the accelerator only. Now, while we’re on that topic, a lot of people ask again, can you pedal this bike or or a lot of ebikes have resistance? Let’s say you run out of battery or something happens. Can you pedal as a normal bike? Oh, 100% you can. For example, I’m just I’m on zero electronic gear now and I’m just using as a normal bike with those huge 160 mm disc rotors. With those full hydraulic brakes, how did it perform doing a brake test? Let’s have a look. Full hydraulic brakes. Big huge 160 mm disc rotors. One, two, three. Okay, brakes are actually phenomenal on this. And just as a side note, the actual brake discs on this as well, they’re not the typical stock brake discs that you get on a lot of electric scooters or electric brakes. They are actually vented extremely well and they are excellent quality. So, that’s just one thing that I wanted to point out. The next test that I done was actually the suspension. And as a side note, the front suspension on this is not adjustable. So, you cannot lock it. You cannot adjust the travel like you can on some ebikes. But this rear suspension, however, is adjustable if you want. But to be honest, it’s perfect just straight out of the box. No need to mess with it at all. Let’s take a look at that test. The plan is to bring this to an off-road track to see what it can do. But for now, this is the only really bumpy area that I can find. So, let me just see what the suspension is like. Front suspension is a bit squeaky. That’s because I’ve had it out in the cold weather for quite a long time. But because the seat is so comfortable, you can shift your body back and forth. You have those front suspensions there. You have those rear suspensions there. So, basically, if you have a passenger on a bumpy surface like this, you probably can’t see it on camera, but it is bumpy. Even the passenger would actually find it so comfortable. Like I’m sitting right back here. So, I mean, it’s it’s so nice. And I’m very curious to see what this would be like in an off-road track because of that suspension system. Particularly, the back suspension on this is quite large and quite a bit of travel there. Plus, it is actually adjustable. So, how is that going to handle? I’m not sure. So, I’m definitely going to try my best. If you’re interested to see an off-road video of this, definitely let me know and I will try my absolute best. But I think as far as throttle response goes, there is no dead spots in the throttle. So, as soon as you press the throttle on this, it’s literally take off. And that 1000 W brushless motor really does give you a such a huge kick. down. I don’t like to move too fast and drown the truth with things that are not real. And I really want us to be real with love. love. Now, we do need to talk about safety. You do have this big LED light here. So, to turn it on, you just basically hold down the plus button, and that gives a really nice, strong beam, built very well. The housing is nice. You of course have the spacers here, and the bracket is really good support compared to some other ebikes that I’ve had in the past. Of course, like what I said, the brakes are phenomenal. Absolutely excellent from a safety standpoint. The bike does not have an official IP rating, but even in rain, I can’t imagine giving much of an issue because the cabling is quite neat on the bike and there’s not a lot of exposed areas. The actual battery that’s encased in this is actually sealed quite well, by the way. That is to check your battery there. And again, cabling is extremely nice done all the way down the bike. You have quick release connectors here. Definitely a very good neat job from E Moco. I mean, just take a look at it. How could you not like the look of this bike? Now, if you just take a look here, of course, you have a back rear LED light that of course brightens when you do break. This bike, unfortunately, doesn’t come with indicators, but it is what it is. From a stability standpoint, going those higher speeds, there is zero wobble from this bike. The handlebars have kind of like a nice slight coverage here. Very strong in the front. There is no steering damper in this. Not that I can feel it, but but even at that, very steady going high speeds. Absolutely excellent style, mountain bike style, I guess you could say. By the way, I have a huge discount on this bike at the moment that’s linked in the description for a limited time only. I always try my best for people to save money. By the way, there is a horn here which is extremely loud. This throttle here is actually very, very nice quality, very nicely done. Extremely happy with the way that’s built. The only thing I wish that could have been done better is the grips are a bit hard to the touch, but you can buy nice soft vented grips. But again, that thumb throttle is probably one of the best ones that I’ve ever had on an ebike or an electric scooter. It doesn’t feel cheap at all. And when it comes to the display here, you have this really nice dial here. And of course on your battery, if you can see that there, you kind of have like what a car has. You have full here and empty here. It’s like as if you have an empty tank, hence the tank shape here. And again, very nicely done, simplified, not complicated whatsoever. Change your gears. You have plus minus onoff button here. You have a button underneath that can basically display your voltage. So, at the moment, we’re at 48.9 volts after using the bike today. So, again, very nice. By the way, this is my own phone holder. You do not get that with the bike, but you do get a phone holder with the bike. Let me show you. This is actually a very nice design and a nice surprise to get finally from a manufacturer, a decent phone holder. So, that’s excellent. Now, there are a few things that we do need to talk about regards to the specs that’s listed on the website. and I’m going to tell you my thoughts now. We’re going to basically start off with the general specs. The range on this is up to 90 km using acceleration only. To be honest, I find that quite accurate on the lower gear. I’ll talk about the speed hack or speed unlock in a second, but I think if you’re going the higher top speed, the unlock top speed of 50 kilometers an hour, I’ really, to be honest, you’re probably going to get 40, maybe 40 km distance per charge going that crazy top speed. If you’re going the stock speed of 25 km an hour, you’d probably get around 60, maybe 70 km distance pushing it, to be honest. But overall, the range on this is actually quite decent. Now, if you want to actually use your legs on this, the claimed range that it says on the website there is up to 150 km. So, again, if you use your feet, if you’re on using, of course, the mechanical gears, that type of thing, you would get more so that range. If you take a look here, the can, these are actually candid tires. They are 20 in by 4 in. It doesn’t state on the website that they have a jelly layer inside. You know, not much of an issue. Now, by the way, there is something I want to point out. When I did get this bike, the tires were completely flat. So, the best way to pump the tires on this is actually to turn it upside down and to make sure the beard around the rim here is actually sitting correctly, then pump it up and you won’t have any issues with that sitting. That goes for the case with a lot of electric scooters and a lot of ebikes. The weight capacity of this, it states on the website, it’s 180 kg in weight. But however, if you actually look at the side plate on this bike, it has 150 kg weight. So, to be honest, I’d say it’s more around 150 kg load capacity. And of course, many questions getting asked. I’m 5’8 like what I always mention in my videos. Again, having a look on the website here, it states that it is between 160 to 200 cm in height for suitability. To be honest, I would find that actually quite accurate because if if I’m at a set of traffic lights just waiting on, you know, the cars to pull off, I can easily put my feet actually on the ground here and be quite comfortable. So, if you’re a taller rider, again, you won’t have much of an issue there. And by the way, you can, if you want, adjust the handlebar tilt more towards your chest or a bit more upright. I like it this way because it feels kind of like, you know, a really nice motorbike style. So, that’s just one thing to point out. So, basically suitable for anybody. Okay. So, now I’m going to talk about the electronic specs. So, what are we dealing with with the C93? The motor on this is, of course, like what I said, a 1000 watt motor and it’s a 48vt brushless rear motor. Maximum torque is 15 Newtonmeters on this bike and I have to say that’s pretty accurate because it has crazy torque for getting you up them hills and the initial torque at a standstill is absolutely nuts. The battery is lithium ion 48vt 20 amp hour battery. Now, the unfortunate thing about this bike is that the charging speed is quite slow. It can take six to seven hours to fully charge this because it doesn’t come in a fast charger. It’s only two ampour output, but you could really just deal with that because at the end of the day, you’re not going to be draining the battery fully all the time. So, you probably just need to top it up charging maybe two to three hours if you, you know, drain it to 50% daily, for example. But overall, it’s not much of a deal breaker. Just on the note of the weight, what will happen if you live in an apartment and you don’t have a lift, but you need to charge the ebike. So, if you can lock the ebike downstairs, for example, wherever your apartment is, you can lock it there, but you can take off the battery. You do get these two keys with the bike. So, let me just show you how that works. So, your key simply goes in here. You unlock it and basically take out your key and the tank or I guess you could say the battery comes off in your hand actually like this and it does have some weight. So again it says the spec there 48 volt battery 20 amp hour. It’s actually built really well by the way. This is your charging port right here. And then you can just bring this into your house, charge it, and then simply pop it on. There. There is a good quality feel to this. Just be careful when you take this off because there’s no handle to hold the battery like on some ebikes. So, you don’t want, of course, let this fall because that would be extremely dangerous. Putting it back on the bike is pretty simple. Just align it with the rails here, click it down, and then simply get your key again. lock it and that’s it. So, it is very convenient. Of course, when it comes to security features, I’ll give a brief talk on that because the frame is actually quite chunky on this bike. You you have multiple areas to put maybe one or even two locks around it. You could put it around the front forks here if you want or you could simply put it around the back area here of that frame or even the shocks wherever you want. So you have very good strength points. This doesn’t come with NFC which I’m not a fan of. It depends how it’s done but it doesn’t come with NFC. It doesn’t come with an inbuilt tracker. But of course, if you wanted, you could get an Air Tag if you have an iPhone, which I have on multiple items as well, and they’re excellent. And you can buy, of course, the bell that goes onto the handlebars, and you put the Air Tag hidden in that bell compartment, and nobody would even know that that tracker is actually there. Plus, you can take their speaker out of the Air Tag. You wouldn’t even think to look there. So, um, from a security standpoint, always use one to two locks if you can and put an Air Tag on it or something equivalent for an Android phone. Well, unfortunately, not everything is great about this C93. Even though this bike ticks so many boxes, I explain as well later on in the video my conclusion about this bike. But there was actually unfortunately two issues that I found with the bike straight off the bat. So I explain them now in the next clip. And if you do have any questions about the C93, please do post them below and I will definitely reply. You of course notice that the bike is it’s not tall by any means, but it is very heavy. I mean the frame is heavy. The handlebars are built extremely well. You have that really cool looking battery compartment there. Big seat, big suspension. So, that is basically a ton weight. In reality, if you live in an apartment where there’s zero lifts, you’re going to struggle to carry this. And it’s not that um easy to actually grip. So, you’d have to probably put your hand underneath here and maybe on the back. That’s really the only way of actually carrying this bike. And trust me, you’re probably only going only be able to hold this for a maximum maybe a minute. you know, if you’re relatively fit to be honest, but of course it doesn’t fold in half. It’s not the type of bike. So, for that reason, you definitely need to keep that in mind. Now, another thing that came to my attention immediately when I actually start testing the bike was this problem. Let me show you. So, I’m on gear five. I’ll use the accelerator. So, free spin, by the way, for reference on this bike is 54 km an hour. And of course, real top speed is 50 km an hour. Now, you can notice straight away I took my hand off the throttle. What happens? Of course, that wheel continues to spin. That is a bit of an issue. So, of course, I got straight onto a moco. And because the cruise control is enabled by default, I said, “Well, can you turn off the cruise control on the P settings?” They got back to me. They said, “No, it can’t be turned off.” So, that is a safety hazard. Normally on P settings, on ebikes, on e scooters, you can turn it off without any issue, but unfortunately on this, you can’t. Now, to be honest, I’m not sure if I was talking to a tech person, the marketing team, the sales team. I don’t have direct contacts there necessarily. So, I’m going to look into that myself keeping that weight in mind. So, here’s a perfect scenario. The core pair is actually quite high. So, let me just come down off the ceb. No issues there. But the problem is coming to the cb. So, because of the weight of the bike, you’re going to have to give a bit of a a bit of a lift and use the torque from that motor. Okay. Now, of course, we need to talk about speed unlocking. Please only do this, of course, if your country allows it or if you’re, of course, using it on private land, you can set it to the full maximum speed. And then of course you can set it back to default for your area. So always abide by the regulations in your area. This is pretty easy to do. There’s not a lot of videos out there on it. So I’m not I already have this unlocked. So I’m going to basically put on the screen right now the steps on how to unlock the speed on the C93. It’s probably best that you screenshot these right now so you have reference to do it. Of course, you need to keep in mind the faster you go, of course, the faster your battery drains, the more strain it is on the motor, your brakes, everything else, and the safety aspect of it. So, you just need, you know, you just need to keep that in mind. Well, so what’s my overall conclusion? At the time of recording this video, this C93 model is just over $1,300 or euros. And of course, I have that discount code there. I’m not sure how long them prices are going to last the way things are, but I think value for money. This is the most comfortable, coolest looking, fastest, torquiest ebike allin-one package that I’ve ever had on the channel. And I guess it’s brilliant for, of course, drivers if you’re delivering food, wherever the case is, because you could, if you want, just take off the back passenger seat there and put a rack on it for your food or whatever you’re carrying. So, I think it’s just excellent. It ticks pretty much all the boxes to be honest, except for the weight, but you could live with that at the end of the day. It’s definitely a head turner, and to be honest, it’s it gets five stars. I absolutely love it. There we go. I’ve put so much work into this video cuz I’m learning a new editing software. So, it’s been a learning core from me on this video. But, if you have enjoyed this video, give a like. Any questions, comments, please just post them below and I will reply to you probably through a YouTube short. In the meantime, stay safe and I’ll talk to you in the next video.
