The “New” PVYZ20 PRO EVO (Folding E-bike)
[Music] hello everybody Hope you’re well This video is all about the DVY Z20 Pro Evo And the Evo is the key part of that because this is a new bike and it’s got h torque sensors on It’s another folding bike So in tradition of folding bike videos we’ve popped it in the back of the camper van along with everything else It’s currently tied up with a metal detector at the moment There we go There we are together That was pretty easy wasn’t it just the seat Pop out the folding pedals which are a bit stiff There we go And there we have it It’s not over heavy I’ll put all the specs below as we normally do But to fold it up center clamp stand lockable both of these of course because you don’t want it folding up as you’re riding along Simple as that And of course it does have the folding pedals on as well And there we have it Comes in two colors I think [Music] Let’s have a look around Rear light which is a brake light And it does have indicators and they run off the main battery which is always good to see Front light again off the main battery Front forks not adjustable or lockable in any way but does give you some suspension These mud guards are the issue You’ll see in the assembly video that I had an issue with that one and I’ve had to put a tire wrapper on this one They’re pretty poor quality those mud guards to be fair And I think the last model of this had better mud guards And if you look at the front forks it’s got a bracket on there for mud guards So you might be able to get some aftermarket ones to fit Gears all work perfectly well out the box One of those rustfree shiny chains that you don’t have to oil Cable disc brakes more than adequate for this The stands in an interesting place on this one They’re usually at the back here but this one’s underneath there on its own bracket And what makes this different from the Z20 Pro this is a Z20 Pro Evo is it has a torque sensor in as well So it makes the transition of the motor switching on quicker If it didn’t have a torque sensor the motor would have to spin so much before it clicked in But as soon as you start to turn the pedals it can sense that you need the power and it’ll give you the power a lot smoother Aluminum frame all nicely welded easy to fold up no key to use to start it which some people don’t like So it’s just a case of getting on and switching on and off you go Removable battery that’s locked within this tube here Adjustable handlebars plenty adjustment on the seat nice comfy seat and I’m sure that’s a waterproof seat as well Simple plastic folding pedals big display and on here you have the up and down of the power settings and it does your trip your speed you can change it from miles per hour to kilometers all the things you’d expect on here And there’s a good instruction book all with the information on that Lights there’s a button on there for the lights front and back indicators We’ve seen this on a few bikes now Bit of a gimmick maybe but when you’re traveling around a town or a city home And it’s got brake lights as well which work on front and back brake Plenty of adjustment on there for the brakes Gear indicator there The gears have been very smooth on this Nice grips I like them when they have a a palm guard on like that But for the price of this bike which is under £800 I think it’s pretty good value If it was if I was uh going to buy this I’d order some different mud guards or just bin the mud guards But apart from the mud guards really like it And I like the price for a bike with that capacity Quality of products is about right But the um detachable battery in the frame and being a folding bike for under £800 is good value Let’s do the brake test Here we go 15 16 [Laughter] 17 See what I mean cable brakes perfectly adequate People like hydraulic brakes or say they want hydraulic brakes until they go wrong With cable brakes it’s about a pound to get a new cable With hydraulic ones you’re probably going to take it to the shop or you’re going to have to buy a specialist kit to bleed them Disc brakes They’re not the old caliper brakes These are disc brakes So they’re still perfectly adequate Nice clear display There’s all your switches for your lights your indicator and your horn gear select under there and they move really smooth They work straight out the box no problem whatsoever It’s very windy today Don’t know if you could hear that but it’s a very quiet motor I can just hear it Seems to have plenty of power I’m not on full power yet There we go Full power And I am going up a hill The suspension seems to work well And there’s a bit of sponge in those tires with them being quite thick Certainly got some power There we are 25 kilometers We’re on full power now with the restriction He got me up that hill All right let’s just nip back to the cottage and show you how it was delivered and how it went together Let’s show you how it is delivered and how it goes together I’ll only use the tools that it comes with and probably a pair of secretars because I can never never find the scissors to cut the tie wraps Quick look in the box Nice small box Anyhow take it that’ll be the tools All looks good so far So in the box there’s a very small power brick with a nonUK lead Two Allen keys another grip an insert probably for the saddle cheap press spanner a throttle and a pair of pedals folding pedals and a plug Basic instruction book I don’t think there’s a lot to assemble on this Ah gives you good instructions on the display and the different settings which is useful Well this is going to be a quick assembly Just looks like it’s the handlebars and seat and pedals The official seitars I do find them good for doing this though This must be the bike with the least amount of tie wraps One tie wrap Is that possible that’s an insert for there for the saddle I haven’t used the instructions because I believe that bike should be simple enough to put together without the instructions That was easy enough wasn’t it that must be a connection for the front light I always mention this because so many people get it wrong The pedals are labeled left and right And they’re labeled left and right on the crank arms And it gives you an indication an arrow to show how you screw these in because one of them’s a left hand thread And if you get these wrong and damage the thread on here you’ll have all sorts of problems These are the plastic folding ones But just make sure you get them on the right side So this is the left and that’s the left And it should go in nice and easy like that And you just use the spanner to nip it up once it’s in And the way these work is as you paddle it actually puts pressure onto the thread and tightens it as you’re cycling It has got a removable battery that’s locked in Comes with two keys That’s nice and easy isn’t it that makes it good as well because you’ll be able to take your battery out if you want to transport this to make it lighter So if you want to don’t want to fold this up and put it in a bike rack on back of your car or something and make it lighter or if you want to take your battery out put this in back of the vehicle this will take some of the weight out And of course you can take it in to charge it You can charge it in the bike or you can take it out So I can’t see any marks And this must be one of the easiest bikes I’ve put together I literally slip the handlebars in slip the seat in and put the pedals on I used a spanner I have been around it to make sure everything else is tight That’s the charging port there It’s got a rubber bung on it So you can uh take that out and charge the battery in the frame And there’s all the specs One thing I have noticed with it these plastic parts particularly this back one kept coming loose and vibrating It’s only got those two screws there There’s no fist fixing at this end So I’m going to put a tie wrap around there just to keep it up hold it into place There There we go the tie wrap on there I did tighten those up a few times but uh that tie wrap really holds it into place And I’d say the front one is a bit flimsy as well Not going to do the to France on it and you’re not going to go mountain biking but a little gravel track you’d get down I think these are for commuting around town You could easily go to work backwards and forwards to work on this nip to the shops put panas on the back or some on the rack or as I’ve done put it in your camper van and take it away with you Park up in middle of nowhere like this Hopefully it doesn’t rain So what size is it when it’s folded up widthwise maximum width I would say 16 17 in heightwise with a seat down 22 in lengthwise 31 in So that’s not a bad size compared to other folding bikes of this design Obviously the ones with the bigger wheels are a lot bigger There’s another little hill coming up Full power 22 kilometers 20 I’m having to put a bit of effort in but it’s definitely helping You can tell it’s got a torque sensor The power comes in instantly God it’s getting windy I don’t know if you can see how steep this hill is No problem getting up here So there you have it The Z20 Pro Evo Don’t get it mistaken with a one that’s not an Evo from PVY Quite impressed Good value for the money Under £800 for a folding bike with that size of battery in Not bad at all I probably overplayed the mud guard issue since I’ve been using it a bit more and I put that tire up in there Hasn’t been a particular issue but I would like to see some better mud guards on it And you can get those as aftermarket or just take them off But yeah quite impressed As always check the description for any offers any information and links to the website And that just leaves me to say thanks for watching and we’ll see you on the next one And hopefully I can get home before it rains Might have another spoon first [Music] though Woohoo [Music]
