Niu XQi3 Review: Is This $3,480 Electric Bike Worth It?
All right. So, I’m starting here from the front of this very cute electric bike that I still spotted here. Uh, it’s something that I want to ride myself. This is from the Neo brand. And I’ll just start here from the front. So, it’s got this very nice round LED lighting, which is the daytime running light. And in there, you have two LEDs, like double LEDs for high and low beam. And it’s a naked sort of design. On the left and right, we have the turn signals just like it is on a motorcycle. And if we come up here, it has a high mud guard. Uh, but it’s a very solid one. Um, of course, it’s coming from Neo. Neo produces very high quality electric bikes here in China. And then you got this knobly tires um for off-roading. It can be used on the road as well. It comes with spoked wheels almost like a bicycle but comes with a standard of kind of in between the quality and the strength of these spokes. Kind of in between a motorcycle and a the bicycle. I’m talking about strength. Now you’ve got this lovely red rim with some very nice brake discs over there. And you also got uh a covering to protect debris from hitting the front forks, which is right there. As you can see, has very long travel. And if we look, it’s a limited edition. And so, it’s not on mass production. If you want it, they can produce for you. But I don’t know why it’s not a mass production because I think it’s going to be very popular. And over here, you get your this brakes. I believe is two piston calipers here in the brake caliper. And you have a solid feeling brake disc. And you get a very nice fork design just like you have on uh off-road motorcycles. And with the front tire, we have tire size 7000 rim 19. All looking really nice. And if I just step to the side. So here you have your rear brake here. And on the other side you have your right brake. And if I go down here, you have very nice thick sort of frame. And then you have another sort of nice quality plastic fairing here, which is basically just a covering of the metal, the metal frame to give it a nice design. They’ve got some very nice decals here. And you got your make it real here by new. It’s a limited edition as I mentioned. And it has a torque of five Newton meters. Thero row M5. Not sure what a throw M5 means. And down here we have forged al forged aluminum pivot worth 180 axle 12 mm. And if you look down here, you got the battery going all the way from here to the top. And then you have the motor down there. So it brings it pushes out lots of power. And over here you have your horn and other electronics going on there. And the mud guard just stops here. And if we go down here, you have some very nice foot pegs. So very solid metal like that or on a motorcycle. And you get a very long stand as well, a motorcycle standard. So that’s really nice to see. And if we come up here, you have your XQI3. And up here, we have the seats, which is a flat seat. And this is where you pull this tab to open to have access to your battery. And if we go down here, you have a a nice frame container all the way to the back gray out. And you also have a disc brake here in the rear. So it doesn’t come with ABS, but it also has two piston calipers on the rear. And you get this metal going all the way that accommodates the number plate area. Actually, here in China, you need a a motorcycle plate on this one. And then you got a just like a motorcycle. You got your number plate lighting right there. You got some reflectors here. And you got your frame and your chain with a sprocket that is as strong as that on a motorcycle. And you also got a smallest mud guard to prevent too much dirt from hitting the rider. And you got some brake lights hidden here under the seat. That’s very neat. You got a center spring here. The shocks right under the seat just like on a motorcycle. And it’s adjustable as well for preload and damping. Uh you just push this to change that. All looking really nice. Basically, the design sits in between a motorcycle and electric bike. And if you go on the right, you have the right foot peg. And then you got some fairings here, some lighting effect over there. And you got your model down there to bring you all that power. You also get a mud guard. So basically, this bike can go off-road as well. And you have your key here. And if we look at the front forks, you can basically just adjust it here. So that’s really nice. And also on the other side. So for damping and rebound, it has this very thin profile, but it works and looks really, really good. So for people who are off-roading or just commuting to work and want something really fun, this is something you can consider. And if I go from the rear, it has this very thin profile. And the seat although can take two passengers, it is recommended for one rider because the mir rider sits on this recess spot. And then the back passenger can only sit here temporarily, but ideally it should be for one passenger. And to get access to the battery, you just pull this tab here and then you can undo the whole thing. And when we look up here, you have NFC entry. So, if I just pull the key out and it also comes with this NFC card with a bunch of keys which you can use whichever you want. I’ll just look at the um the controls here. So, if we come to the controls so you can turn it on by inserting the key here or I can just use the NFC the NFC tag which turns it on and off. And you get two of those and two conventional keys plus a card. So you can use whichever is convenient for you. And if I place it right there, it turns the whole thing on. And let’s look at what it has to offer here. So let me start from the dash. So as you can see, it shows you your battery, your range, charging percentage, your odometer here, your sport function, which is right here. And when I push it to eco, it also shows an E here. So, a very, very neat function. And then we go up here. This is your power button. This is your ignition. And up here, you have some controls for lighting and also controlling the functions on the screen. And on the left hand side, like I already mentioned, you have your eco function and your sport function. It’s just a toggle you move. And then here you have function start button here. And then you got your horn which is very loud. And you also got a turn signal button here. It’s got this very nice sound to it. It sounds really good. Not not intrusive. And then you got your lighting here. So when I press it, you can see pardon my angles. They will not be professional, but I hope it’s useful. And then so that’s about it for the functions. And he tells me there are two buttons. So if I pull this tab out, then there is no power for the bike. No one can ride it away. And if you just put it back in. So you can just hang a key ring on it and when you get off the bike, you lock it and just pull this one. Just kind of like what Honda has with their H system and nobody can ride it away. And with the screen itself, this button here is for changing so many functions. So, as I toggle it up and down, you’ll see different changes and different functions. You can have not ready, not ready. And then here you can use it, set it as a timer. So, as you can see, it’s counting. Um, and you can reset it or pause it. Reset. So these two buttons, this one here and the other one there give you all the functionality that you need to all the buttons that you need to control whatever is going on on the screen. So that’s really really neat. Actually, there’s a plastic on it, but even with that, you can see how crisp and bright this is even in bright day sunlight. So yeah, all looking very, very nice. And to turn it off, I just need the tag again to And that’s it. Overall, a very nice bike that can be used for weekend fun in the outdoors and also for commuting to to work. As you can see, if you don’t touch it for a while, it flashes twice and shuts off by itself. So, this is something I would also want to consider if I have. But right here in China, you need a real motorcycle license and a motorcycle plate in order to be able to get this on the road. But it might be different for you wherever you are. So it depends. So yeah, this was a quick look at the XG3 electric motorcycle that is coming out of China from the Neo company. As you can see, traditionally they make electric bikes like what I’m showing you right now, but this is the one that they build for people who want to have some extra fun. If you are I would the for the seat height, I would say if you’re about 175 cm and above, then you should be fine on this bike. But if you are shorter than that, it might be very tricky because you cannot adjust the seat height on this one. So I’m 183 cm tall and as you can see I can flat for it and I still have a little bend in my in my feet. So for someone who is 175 cm and above this should be perfect for riding. And I must say it feels very comfortable. Even though the seat is a little bit hard but it’s doable for of course you’re not going to take this uh on a cross country ride. You can do it if you want to, but range and all that is going to be a problem. But as you can see, seating position is very very good. The only thing I’m not seeing are riding mirrors, but I believe you can improvise something. And because it’s is is um is an open naked bike, you can just move your head to the side to see your blind spot. So yeah, at 183 cm, I feel that this is and with my foot on the foot peg, it has a very comfortable seating position. So, yes, I’ll give this bike a plus. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] It also comes with a type-C charging port right here. So, if you install some sort of phone bracket here, you can charge your phone whilst you’re on the move. So, that’s a really neat extra touch as well. All right. So, I hope you enjoyed this quick walk around of this very awesome electric bike. If you did, give this video a thumbs up and don’t forget to subscribe the channel so we can grow together. Until I see you in the next video, guys, rightly go. Rise safe always. Peace and I’m out.
