2025 Chevy Equinox EV: The Brutally Honest 8-Month Review (17,000 miles later)

Last year I decided to make the switch to an EV. So I bought this [Music] [Applause] [Music] do not like this are just dumb in my professional and personal opinion. It’s just dumb and breaking. That never gets old. So, it’s been 8 months since I purchased my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox RS dual motor, so all-wheel drive. And this video is going to be more so about my overall impressions, things I’d like to see changed, things I have changed in certain settings, anything like that. But if you want a full detailed review, when I initially bought it, I gave all the specs and all that stuff. So, definitely go check out that video. But for those who too lazy to go check out my previous video here, I’ll glaze over some of the specs. So, it’s a dual motor, 300 horsepower, 346 pound- feet of torque, 0 to 60 in 6 seconds, 285 miles of range, and 450 kilometers of range. And that’s all I’m going to say. The rest is going to be actual life ownership impressions because yes, I did buy this. This is my personal car. I’ve been using it and I’ve got almost 27,000 kilometers of travel time with the Chevrolet Equinox EVs. So, take it for what it’s worth. I drive a ton and this is going to be all my impressions of it. So, overall aesthetics, I don’t really need to cover that that much. It looks great and I that’s why I bought it. But, one thing right away, we’re going to get into what I changed. So, no frunk and I don’t care. I didn’t have a frunk before when I switched from an E internal combustion engine vehicle. So, an ICE vehicle. It was a 2016 Mazda CX-5. I loved it. However, because I travel so much, as you can tell, I’ve only had it for 8 months and out of 27,000 kilometers, it hurts. So, I went from spending $600 to $700 a month on gas. For those laughing, uh I live in Canada. All right. So, or and I live in Quebec, so where the gas prices are high, electricity are lows. So, on average, I’m spending about $60 a month in electricity, traveling the same amount of kilometers. It’s insane. So, I’m not here to talk about why I switched to an EV more about this, but it’s relevant. But one thing I did change for the winter tires, and now I put on the stock tires for this video specifically, is I changed the tires. My winter tires are 17 in wheels. These are 21s. So, we got 275 40R 21s on there. Do not like this. And I know what you guys are going to say. You could have just bought an LT. No, I could not because there was none in stock back in December 2024. They do this on purpose, right? Higher profit margins on these bad boys on the RS. But these are just dumb in my professional and personal opinion. It’s just dumb because it makes the ride comfort a lot less pleasant. And I know this from going for my winter tires, which are 17in wheels, to going to these. So, that is the first take. Uh, as soon as these tires are done, I am switching to about 18in wheels. The LT does come with 19inch wheels. I think that would be okay. I just want a little bit more rubber because I do live in the mountains. I live in the countryside and there the roads in Quebec here are not the greatest. So, yeah. All right. Now, over to the charge port because I think we’ve identified that the wheels you should go bigger. One thing I’ve noticed is there’s a light here and for part of my winter it was no longer working. I was going to bring it to service but then in the spring it started working again. It’s a bit of a pain because you know at night pitch dark I kind of use my cell phone flashlight. It’s not that big of a deal, but it is one of the thing that kind of went off on me and now it’s back on. And it’s kind of like the awkward moment where you want to go to the dealership, but you’re like, uh, it’s working now, but you know, so it’s one of those things as far as uh range and such real life range. So, I gave you the stats at first, you know, the uh 450 km of range or 285 miles and uh it’s a slushie. Speaking of slushy and cold, in the winter time, my range, we’re talking about -15 Celsius or whatever it is in Freedom degrees. Um, I’ll put that below. But in around -15 Celsius highway driving, so not ideal for an EV, I was getting 320 kilometers while driving I don’t know how many of you are cops or local cops watching this, but uh driving the flow of traffic, you know, 120 km an hour or 74 miles per hour. So 100 320 km of range in winter condition which equates to I believe almost 200 miles of range. It’s a bit of a drop, but keep in mind again my speed and one I’m not tailing any vehicles. I’m not like hyper mileing it and I’m comfortably inside. I set the temperature. I only wear like a either a t-shirt or a hoodie. I refuse to change my level of comfort because I have an EV and I can here to tell you that it’s fine. I come between Quebec and Montreal and I travel there no problem in the winter. In the summer, yeah, you can pretty much get 450 km of range. Uh if uh your HVAC’s not fully on blast and all that stuff, I usually charge it to 80% just because it’s my personal vehicle and it’s not something I intend to trade in anytime soon or anything like that. I want to preserve that battery life. I charge at home 95% of the time and uh you know it still gives me over 400 km of range at uh 80% battery. So as far as the range I’m pretty happy with it even in the winter time especially our winter over here is pretty harsh. You get minus 20 -30 and uh I haven’t had any issues. Up next the door handle. I was not a fan of the door handles because I wanted just regular door handles. And turns out the cold, the winter, and all that stuff doesn’t quite affect it. What does affect it, however, is the fact that when I come out to, you know, remove snow off my vehicle, I have the key and it senses I have the key. And for the love of me, I try to program it so the handles don’t pop out like you just see there whenever I’m close to it. But you cannot. What you can change is like unlock and lock. But the fact that the door handles are popped out. I mean, if you’re a viewer and you figured out a way of stopping those handles to popping out whenever you’re close by with the key fob, tell me. Because the only solution I found is get my snow brush, leave the keys inside the house, and then brush it. And then because I when I knock the snow off the car, it falls right here. So, I’m going to switch position with Brian. By the way, Brian’s back, people. He’s uh I brought him out of retirement for this one. See this gap here? So, I’m brushing snow and snow falls in here and then when it closes, boom, you’re packing snow on the inside. So, the problem is not that they won’t pop out when there’s freezing rain. Trust me, they will. That has not been an issue for me. I’ve had freezing rain. I have ton of snow and it’s not an issue. They will pop out and it’s quite sturdy of a build. I have no concerns about this failing unlike I did with the Chevy Blazer and its charging port. But, that’s something that kind of annoys me. Again, if you don’t live where there’s snow, not really a concern for you. Moving on, the backhand wiper always nice, but that’s not the only one to have that. One thing that I found that is really nice is whenever, see the rear camera’s got 360 camera, but whenever it’s dirty, especially in the winter time, they’re always dirty, you activate the rear windshield wiper cleaner, and it cleans the camera as well. That is amazing because since I review cars, I’ve driven cars like luxury segment like Lincoln that don’t or Infinites that don’t even have that feature. So this I would say is a premium feature to have especially on a Equinox EV. Next going in. So I’m going to activate like this and then I’m going to show you what my issue is. It’s right here. So this is a piece of rubber that you press when you want to open the trunk. Yeah, it’s great in the summertime, but in the winter time which you have gloves is very thin and you really have to get it in the middle to press it like if you press a bit on the side. So, I wish the whole rubber piece here would have been the um the thing you would have you would press down as opposed to this little strip. That’s a bit annoying. Don’t didn’t like that. And I always have to take off my gloves. Yeah, I guess sausage fingers I guess. I don’t know. As far as cargo space, absolutely love it. I also love the drop floor here. Uh so I can take this. So this is my uh cleaning bag for when I review cars, by the way. This fits in here pretty much entirely. So I also already have my charging cables that come that came free with the vehicle. Free? I mean, I bought the vehicle for like 54 grand, so it’s I don’t think that’s free, but yeah, it closes. So, you can fit a lot of stuff underneath here and you still have quite a lot of usable space. And when I put the seats down, I think it’s something like almost 57 cubic feet of space. Pretty good. And note, if you’re considering between the Equinox EV or the Blazer EV, I did a comparison where I actually measure the usable amount of space that you can have is essentially the same. Yeah, I don’t know. But, uh, especially when you drop the floor down cuz I can drop it lower if I’m not using the bin down here. Uh, it definitely quite a lot of space. So, I’m quite happy with how much cargo space the Equinox EV has. Okay, back seat. What’s there to say? 39 in of leg room. That’s plenty of spacious. I don’t spend much time here. That’s basically my kid. He likes to make a mess, but the good part is for us is it’s been fairly easy to clean. And uh he’s dropped everything from ketchup on these seats to everything. No issues. He can plug in his device. I got two USBC’s. He stays nice and cool or nice and warm depending on the weather cuz he’s got UBC USBC’s there. Pouches for my first a kit, my tourniquets if I decide to kill somebody and then change my mind. So yeah, there’s lots of uh good thing. Head room is ample. I am 5’9 and I got a couple inches left in the cubby even considering that I have this because I do have a panoramic sunroof. If you don’t, you have even more headroom. So, yeah, that’s about it. Let’s go in the front. Okay, interior. First off, digital gauge cluster. Really great. Everything is good. And I’m going to go right into what I don’t like. And I mentioned this in my review. It is this drive modes. It’s through the screen and I do not like it. I didn’t like it then and thanks for the community because before I was using it out of this and I was like that’s annoying and you could just drag and put it up here and I did that. Now it’s up here. Still annoying. I want it like some manufacturers have it right here on the steering wheel. Boom. Drive mode. Put it there. It’s good. Uh second thing is I’m actually going to grab the camera from Brian. So, and uh just so you can see this is Brian. He’s back from retirement eating ice cream cuz I can’t afford to pay him. So, I pay him in ice cream. Uh so, you can see here almost at 27,000 km. Yay. Uh and uh here you’ll be like, “Oh, what’s this yellow light for?” Well, that yellow light, my friends, is because I have turned off the automatic uh pre pre-colision braking thing. So, the braking alerts are still there. I still want to keep those on and active. But the thing is whenever I would be like, you know, when you’re at a stop sign, there’s a car in front of you and you creep just a little bit, it would just boom, break. I was like, holy, like I was like, did I just get hit by something? Did I hit something? What happened? And it was kind of annoying. And even the pre-colision uh alarms like uh it flashes a red light right about there. And there’s a light that reflects on the windshield. I like that overall, but uh it sometimes goes on uh early in the morning when there’s like a shadow that looks like a a wall or something. So, I don’t trust it 100%. I turn it off. I haven’t crashed into anything, so I guess I’m doing fine driving by myself. Uh so, that’s fine. Uh lane keep assist is also a button down here. It’s not the smoothest. All right. If you’re comparing it to other vehicles like uh and you know, good thing that I drive different kind of vehicles all the time, but I find that other manufacturers have a smoother lane keeping assist and I think they did that on purpose cuz otherwise you wouldn’t really need to buy uh Super Cruise, right? Which is an update. I love Super Cruise. Big fan of it. Lane keeper assist here. Yeah. Moving on to here. I said in my review, we don’t have rain sensing wipers. We do have auto I-beam. I would like that to be switched. I want rain sensing wipers and I don’t care about auto highbeam cuz high beams is a gross motor skill. Now, if you don’t know me from my channel, I’m Pat, by the way. And uh I used to be military. I used to be a close protection operator, advanced pistol carbine instructor and such. So, gross motor skills really easy to do in high stress environments and stuff. So, boom, high beams activated. If I want to activate my wipers, let’s say a truck just splashed a big puddle in front of my windshield. That’s a fine motor skill. I have to turn this wheel here. That’s fine motor skill in high stress stress environment. That’s not as easy to do as high beams. That is my logic behind it. Cuz I know 50% of you are like, I prefer auto. I’m like high beam. And 50% of you are I prefer rain sensing wipers. That is my logic behind it. This does not have rain sensing wipers and it should. Moving on to this. Now, if I take off my sunglasses, I can see what some of you guys were talking about when I did my initial review is I do get See that shiny plastic there, Brian? It reflects off the window. So, you get a glare back and I’m not too sure the camera can capture that, but it is there. And I didn’t notice it for the longest time. You know why? I always drive with these even if it’s somewhat a little light out there. I like to protect my eyes. And also even when there’s like somewhat rain, you guys know why I drive with polarized lenses and stuff like that because rain reflects light. A lot of times when you got snow and rain, a lot of people take off their sunglasses. You probably should keep them on because you’re neglecting that reflection of the snow of the raindrop and you can actually see more. Even though if it’s a little bit darker, you’ll see better with sunglasses. This has nothing to do with this car review. It’s just a little pro tip. All right, just listen to me. But yeah, so I always have glasses. I never see the glare. Never. But uh I know like Kim Java, like Tesla super fan over there, she mentioned something about it. Cool story, girl. But uh it doesn’t bother me. And if you wear sunglasses, it won’t bother you either. Oh, yeah. I’ll point out what bothers me and I’ll point out what’s not bothering me. But yeah, the drive mode bothers me. Uh also, the fact that I changed my light through here, it’s not a big deal cuz I usually just keep it on auto. I had it on on because to give you guys a nice cool lights. uh stuff like that. But one thing that does bother me about this is not really the infotainment system. This infotainment system is really great. Uh I use ways quite a bit and mostly in my area when I know where I’m going, I use ways and if I don’t know where I’m going, I use Google because uh ways is really good in my area telling me where there’s um you know, police and such. Not that I drive bad. Again, if you’re a cop watching this, not that’s not why I just want to know where you guys are at. That’s all. Anyways, but a lot of time when I start the car and I have the data plan, it just won’t connect. Even though if I’m in an area that it always connects or usually connects, uh it’s every it’s a hit and miss. A lot of times you’ll be like, “You’re offline.” Like, why am I offline? I was online here yesterday. And that is something that has been annoying me quite a bit. Now, the Google native system will work regardless, but um it’ll tell you you’re offline. You’ll still be able to navigate where you are. So, navigation won’t be an issue. You just know that you won’t be able to put in uh you it’ll say like it’s offline. There’ll be like a circle like a cloud with a bar on it. It’s telling you you’re offline. We’re online right now. So, tells you all the flowcharters and everything. And it’s also added because I bought the Knack charging port. Bought it from the dealership, so it’s the right one, but you can buy anyone on Amazon if you want. And boom. It’ll actually tell me where the knacks are as well. Well, there’s none in this particular area, so it’s not something I can show you right now, but if there are, it’ll pop up now cuz it’ll ask me in the last update after I did the last uh software update, which is actually last week. And uh it said, “Do you have an Axe adapter?” I’m like, “Yes, I do.” Clicked on and now in your Google Maps, it tells you if it’s occupied or not. So, here we got one charger that’s occupied out of two. I really like this. So, if I plan a trip to Brian, where do you want to go? Let’s go to Vegas. Vegas. Okay. Las Vegas, Nevada. That’s um Thanks for picking that route, Brian. It’s going to take him a few minutes to load up. That’s pretty cool. So, multiple charging ports needed. So, it’s finding all your charging stops. We got 19 charging stops, but we’ll get there with 30% after we charge. And uh it usually tells you too all how how much time how many days it going to take us? 2 days and 3 hours to get to Vegas. Not worth it. But uh yeah, so it tells you everywhere you’re going to charge it. Plus that it makes it so easy. I love the built-in Google interface. It’s definitely a pro for me in the ownership and it’s not like I go on road trips that often, but uh it makes it so easy. Another trick that makes it very easy is I usually pick um hotels and such that have charging capability and some here in Canada actually is free charging. Uh so you go there with like 10% battery left, plug it in, go to sleep, wake up, boom, a full battery ready for your next trip. So that’s definitely an ownership thing that I’ve enjoyed quite a bit. HVAC control, I love how quick it is at cooling us off on these hot days. um cuz it’s not the case for every vehicle I’ve tested. So, Chevrolet does that really good. HVAC, no issues there. Lastly, from owning this vehicle for 8 months and driving a ton. I spent a lot of time in my vehicle cuz 27,000 km almost. Look how much storage I have from here there. The big golf can fit uh any kind of drinks in there. And look, Brian, look how many drinks I have in my door. I got a sports bottle, a shaker, and a protein shake. I just finished playing hockey, by the way. Brian has to smell that right now. I didn’t even shower after my hockey game. I smell like hockey. It’s good thing you guys are. Anyways, but also maintenance. Look, I can take out this whole tray. Brian, that’s your tip, by the way. This and the bottom one. The whole thing comes out. This is very easy to clean. And it even side uh the door here as well. The bottom piece comes out and everything. It’s just so easy and effortless to maintain. You just take it out and shake it off and good to go. It looks like you just did like a detailing job, but you didn’t. Yeah, I think that pretty much covers the interior, guys. I love my panoramic sunroof, which actually opens as well, cuz uh some pe some other uh vehicles just have the fixed glass one, and this one will actually open up. Woo, that didn’t sound good. I haven’t opened it in a long time, but yeah, pretty cool, huh? Okay, so let’s go for a little drive. I’m just going to reverse out because um I don’t take this car off-road. Neither should you. That’s not what it’s allhe drive for. But when I reverse, I do like that it’s not one pedal drive even though I have one pedal drive activated. It’s I just let go of the brake and it’s go. And I like that. I hate it when it’s like one pedal drive in reverse as well. It seems like Chevrolet actually thought about quite a lot when they decided to build this car and that yeah, one pedal drive for reversing. Not a good idea. But windshield wiper fluid for a windshield wiper uh washer in the back and the rear camera and I have 360 camera. Uh so it’s uh it definitely offers very good quality of camera. Now we’re looking at where we’re going to go. And you know what? I’m going to go into sports mode. So I hate that I have to go through the screen for it, but go to sports mode. Yeah, straighten up there, Brian. Or you’re going to slide all the way in the back. One thing I did realize from from uh between this EV and all the other EVs is that it’s still a tempered acceleration. But as an owner, I am quite happy that it is because uh I pay for the tires now. You know, it’s not a press card. I can just burn rubber and just keep doing like, you know, starts and stuff like that. But um yeah, so it’s tempered acceleration, but coming from internal combustion engine, even a Mazda CX-5, which I is usually a pretty good throttle response kind of vehicle, very sporty handling. Um this just, you know what, if you’re in the wrong lane at a red light and you need to accelerate fast, you’re still going to accelerate really fast. Case in point now and breaking that never gets old. Never gets old. And we come to a complete stop. One thing that is something to note is in the winter, don’t forget that you’re driving a heavier car if you’re just switching to an EV, which means if you start sliding, you’re sliding for a lot faster and a lot longer than you would in a regular car in the summer. I mean, not too much to address in that retrospect, but I just want to guys like improve your what am I trying to say? Like stopping distance is longer. So basically keep your distance. There you go. You got to account for that extra weight because overall driving now back in normal is it still accelerate really fast. 0 to 60 in 6 seconds is nothing to shy about. Sure. I mean the Mustang Maki is faster. The Ionic 5 is faster, but you’re still faster than most cars on the road. It’s not something I’ve noticed. Uh, and it’s something that I love because it’s this being an EV, it’s such a smooth acceleration and cornering because the center of gravity is so low with that battery is it just Yeah, it’s such a pleasant car to drive. Even more so when you don’t have these 21 in 21in wheels on, right? I love my 17in wheel uh for my winter tires, my steelies. I think they even look pretty cool. I think a black rim is definitely what I’m going to get for uh my next summer set, which is probably going to be next year cuz again, these kind of tires, they wear out pretty quick. Um it’s going to be for me, my winters are good for another season. So, I’d say two seasons if you swap between winter and summer anyways. So, it’s like they last you two years. Well, take into account how much driving you do though, for the average person, they’re probably going to last a little bit longer. Yeah, exactly. And I think the Equinox is one of the best cars to get for it to last longer because it’s not that immediate. It’s still like you you said, it still pushes you in the back of the seat. It’s just not as harsh as like the By the way, Brian used to do car reviews, too. He did the Kia EV6 GT, and that knocked you way back. But again, GT. But I mean, it’s still it’s it’s noticeable. It it made me think a little bit about the the EV6. Yeah. Just sparked up some memories there when you had fun and did almost got like your car towed away cuz you were driving too fast and didn’t know it. So, yeah, it’s still like merging and all that stuff not going to be an issue. Lastly, I want to say that the one pedal drive is perfectly calibrated. I rarely ever use the brakes and I love driving one pedal. How However, Brian’s Brian’s not liking it as much. But that that’s his problem, not mine. He’s not used to one pedal drive as much as I am. Nor is he used to going exceptionally fast and then stopping really sharply. So, I understand that. Are you good, Brian? Oh, yeah. So, I guess that sums up my eight months of ownership. And why did I do eight months? Well, basically cuz I got lazy. I wanted to do a 6 months ownership and you know, I kind of got lazy. I was like, 20,000 km? Yeah. And then I was like, okay, you know, 25,000 K. And then I just finished getting off vacation this this week. So, I’m like, you know what? Get it done because I love the Equinox EV RS. absolutely love it. That is my take on it. Sure, I mentioned some things that I don’t like about it because I’m not a Tesla, you know, fanboy where I just tell you everything’s great about my car even though it’s not. So, ding. Anyways, uh so yeah, overall love it. Don’t care if it doesn’t have a trunk cuz I didn’t have one before. If you’re buying or looking to buy an Equinox EV coming from internal combustion engine, not really going to be a factor for you. Plenty of space in the back, plenty of space in the trunk. It drives great. Get the LT, though. Do yourself a favor and get the LT. I didn’t have much of a choice because they were selling like hot cakes in December and uh December 2024 and it was all RS. They want the higher profit margin vehicles. I understand that. But it should be some LTS around. Definitely be on the lookout for that unless you can get a great deal like I did from uh Hawkbury Chevrolet. Yeah, I did a video on that, too. And uh yeah, I know I should remove the front plate uh bracket. I’m again, I’m lazy. Okay, I just retired from the military. I’m kind of in shund down mode. Give me a break, will you? Or I might just put a vanity plate. Woo, who cares, right? But yeah, overall, I love my Equinox. I did a comparison with the Blazer, and I say over there why I didn’t go with the Blazer in that video. Definitely go check it out. Definitely subscribe to the channel so I could keep doing these kind of car reviews where it’s just a regular guy. I’m not a journalist. I never said I would. I was. Uh I just a guy that loves driving cars and like giving my nononsense approach review on it. What’s important to me and what’s not important review to me. I notice how I didn’t go over all the materials being used on the Couldn’t care less. I don’t give a about what materials being used. I know it’s comfortable. The seats are comfortable. I know that uh everything is easy to maintain, easy to clean. I’m a family man, and that’s what’s really important to me. But I also like beating somebody off the red light when it comes to time to just show up a little bit of alpha male personality or something like that, whatever you want to call it. And I love the overall aesthetic looks of it. Uh yeah, the fact that the RS essentially what you get is that blackout portion and the red badging for the RS and the badging in the seats. Couldn’t have cared less. The LT still you can get certain options where you do still have a wireless charger in there. I don’t have wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. I didn’t mention that throughout the video because that doesn’t bother me. I have the data plan and I think they offer it like free for a full year and the maps is like eight years now or something like that. It’s something ridiculous that I don’t have to worry about. So I can play music off of my cell phone via Bluetooth and the maps is free for eight years. Not a concern to me. I ended up buying the data plan. And one thing I can say about when you’re calling OnStar is they’re going to try to upsell in a way that they’re not not even going to acknowledge that they have a cheaper plan cuz I remember calling them pressing a little button because they’re through the app. It really sucks. The service is not there. It’s not as good as Tesla in that sense that you can do everything through the app. Chevrolet, you should fix that. Uh but you can book appointments. I have booked a service appointment. I haven’t mentioned how many times I went to service. Uh that was once. I went once in 8 months to the dealership and it was a software update that needed to be done because the advanced cruise control would not come to stop whenever you, you know, when you’re flying down the highway and there’s like a complete like traffic jam up ahead. So, they’re completely stopped. Uh, it was going to just crash in there. So, it wasn’t slowing down. It wasn’t doing anything. So, that software there fixed that and I’ve tested it. I didn’t crash. So, yay, it works. Uh, but that’s the only thing I went to maintenance for. Uh, oh, and my tires cuz I switched from winter tires to summer tires. Otherwise, Chevrolet has no scheduled maintenance. When I was shopping around, I shoed for Toyota BZ4X and I shoed for um the ID4, which was a stop sell at the point, so kind of not really a factor. But a lot of these manufacturers have scheduled services. And I talked to my dealership. like what’s your scheduled required services to keep the warranty good? He says none. It’s like we don’t have any. We don’t have any. You don’t have to go to a dealership. You don’t have to go to a garage at all. So, that was a big selling point for me. I love the fact that it doesn’t race stupid fast where I need to change my tires every year. These are factors that I liked. I’ve told you about everything I don’t like from the overutilization of the screens for whether it be lights or whether it be uh drive mode selection. I think the drive mode selection is the thing that pisses me off the most. If this was winter, I think the handles, the fact that they pop up if you have your keys near on you, that’s a little bit annoying. But overall, this is a great purchase. I’m not an influencer. I don’t care if you buy this car. I don’t have a promo code for you. So, there’s that. But I just want to tell you guys that I’m quite happy with my Equinox. So if you have any questions, problem, quers, comment below. The comments always help our videos get more traction. So definitely help get this video, share it, do everything that you can do. This is probably Brian’s last time cuz he just he’s retiring from the military as well, but he’s shipping out somewhere else. He’s leaving me by myself in Quebec. What an Anyways, we love you, Brian. No fluff, no sponsorships, just the brutally honest truth. After 8 months and driving my 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV for over 27,000 kilometers (nearly 17,000 miles), I’m ready to tell you everything. This is the no-nonsense, long-term review I wish I had before I bought it.

In this video, I’m taking a deep dive into what it’s really like to own this EV as a regular person in Canada. We’ll cover all the things I genuinely love about it, and all the frustrating things I absolutely dislike. I’ll share my full experience with switching from a gas-powered car to an all-electric lifestyle – the good, the bad, and the unexpected challenges.

And yes, I’ll get into the details of why my Equinox EV has already been into the service department. This isn’t a polished first-drive review; this is a real-world test of the Equinox EV RS AWD after facing a Canadian winter, long road trips, and the daily grind. I have no reason to hold back, so I’m giving you my unvarnished opinion on whether this car is truly worth your money.

Are you thinking about buying an Equinox EV or making the switch to electric? What are your biggest questions or concerns? Let me know in the comments below!
