Chery Tiggo ReV C-DM | 7-Seater Plug-in Hybrid | Comprehensive Review and Long Drive Experience
[Music] This car feels like coming home and stepping into something completely new. It has a heart of a car that I’ve known and trusted for 3 years. Now beating with even more purpose. Familiar yet transformed. Recognizable yet revolutionary. More fuel efficient, smarter, and packed with even more tech. revitalized. It’s a seven-seater plug-in hybrid. This is the Cherry Tigo Rev CDM. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Hi guys, my name is Don and I’m not a pro driver. Let me show you why this is more than just a facelift. So, let’s start with the key fob. At the front, we have the lock, unlock, trunk button, and remote start button. There are also holes on the back for a lanyard right there. As long as you have the key fob with you, you can approach your car and it will unlock itself. The handles just pop out and the side mirrors unfold. And if you want to lock the car, just walk away from it. If you want to open the windows remotely, press and hold the unlock button. There you go. And then press the lock button to close the windows again. To start the car remotely, press and hold the remote start button. So, it’s on. It’s just so quiet that you can’t hear it. To open the tailgate, press and hold and it should open. There you go. You have a power tailgate. And to close the tailgate, you do the same thing. Press and hold. The TGO RV comes in four colors: white, black, gray, and green. It is 2,89 mm wide, 1,75 mm high with a ground clearance of 200 mm, 4,725 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,710 mm. Front and center you have your Cherry logo. Here you have a glass piece here for the grill. And inside that you have your diamond patterns. Below the Cherry logo you have your front camera and all this is wrapped with chrome accents at the top and at the bottom. And then on the sides it sort of fades away with these six chrome stripes. And then for the lights, yes, I like this. You have one piece here. At the top are your DRLs and then you have your headlight and your high beam. When you turn your headlamps turn as well, which helps with visibility. Your DRLs here at the top, they also serve as your signal lights and they do a light show when you unlock and lock the car. And then on the far side of the car, these are actual vents, parking sensors here. You have one on each side. And then you have your plate holder. At the bottom of the plate holder, more vents that is black plastic cladding. And then for the hood, you have a design here that dips at the center and then towards the side it raises. And then for the wipers, you need to flip a switch in order for it to get to maintenance mode. And then at the top we have a notch here with your sensors, rain detection. You don’t have a DVR. I know. Continuing to the side, you don’t have a badge here where you usually see, you know, a badge. It looks good without it. Your side mirror switch is a two-tone design where you have body color and piano black finish. And then you have your repeaters here, a camera, and a puddle lamp. This is not your TGO logo anymore. It’s actually a more functional light. For your sills, we have chrome finish at the top and at the bottom, and it spans all the way here at the end. They don’t connect, though. For the pillars, on the B-pillars, it’s matte black. And on the C-pillars as well, we have privacy tent from the second row all the way to the back. For the handles, they’re now flushed. They hide whenever it’s locked. At the bottom, we have more chrome accents that’s sitting on top of this matte black finish. So, for the wheels, we have two-tone 18-in alloy rim design here. It’s a 2355 R18. And the brand of the tires is GT Comfort P10 with advanced tech. This brakes at the front and disc brakes at the back. For the suspension, we have a McFersonson for the front and a multi-link system for the rear. Those are both independent. You also have a roof rail here at the top with four fix points on each side. Yeah, it’s loadbearing. The side profile of this is very aggressive, but still elegant. On the driver’s side is where you get to see your fuel cap. To open the fuel cap, there’s a button. You press that, it unlocks. Then you have this. For the fuel, you have a capacity of 60 L. And it says here it’s equal to or greater than 92 run. Since that this is a plug-in hybrid, your charging port, you have your AC and DC. So, this is a CCS type 2 charging port. Max charging rates are 6.6 kW for AC and 42 kW for DC. It can charge from 30% to 80% in 8 to 10 hours. That’s AC. And only 30 minutes for DC. What this is charging is a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 18.66 kilowatt hour. And this is with Cher’s Guard battery system, which means the battery is protected against water immersion and dust ingress. And the battery can still work in extreme heat and cold conditions. It has high strength steel underbody, which provides protection against undercarriage impacts and debris. This is Cherry’s super hybrid system, which gives the TGO REV a rated range of 1,400 km. 130 km of which is pure EV. And this also supports vehicle to load function. So for the rear, I can’t tell you how excited I am that this now has a light bar. Look at that. That looks good. For the badges, we have Cherry spelled out for you. TGO right here and CDM on this side. For the tail lights, it it looks like wings when they light up. You have your repeaters here and your reverse as well. Below the Cherry logo, we have a camera, two lights for the plate, and a button to open the tailgate. So, here’s your plate holder, parking sensors, four of them, two on each side. Black plastic cladding with your reflectors and rear fog lamps. And then another type of material here is still plastic that’s designed to look like a diffuser of some sort. These are faux tail pipes. So, you have a muffler hidden with two tail pipes on each end. At the top, we have your wiper, rear defoger, a spoiler that houses your third brake light, and your third brake light is in two pieces, and of course, your shark fin antenna. So, again, it still looks like a high-end Tigo. And the lights, they really look good at night. For the front, this is the car turned off. This is the car turned on. Lights are still off, but the DRLs are on. This is auto, which is low beam as well because it’s dark. Highbeam and signal lights for the back. This is off. This is auto, low beam, and high beam. Rear fog lamps, signal. Then here is brake, reverse with signal lights. If you enjoy these types of car reviews, show your support and hit that subscribe button. There’s a lever here. You pull twice then to open the hood. It’s effortless. And then you have your serviceable things here like your washer fluid, coolant. There’s two tanks right there and your brake fluid. So, what you’re looking at here is a 1.5 L turbocharged engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor. This is Cherry’s super hybrid technology which produces 204 PS and 310 new m of torque. This is mated with a dedicated hybrid transmission which drives the two front wheels. The reason why it’s so quiet is they have dampening materials here at the hood to help reduce noise. Now, to open the trunk, you have a button here. You open it and it opens quite slow. Then you have your close button here, your handle, and then, of course, your emergency latch. Inside, you’ll find your early warning device. This is supposed to be your tire repair kit, and your tow hook. This is because you don’t have a spare tire. This is supposed to be your 2 kW portable charger. This plugs into your AC port. Now, usually Tigos have a compartment here. Here you’ll find something for your hybrid system. To fold the third row seats, you have tabs here that you press and then push. You have a compartment here. This is for your battery. Yeah, this is another battery. This is your power outlet. There you go. 12vt socket. And then you have this to hold the seat belt in place. Speakers. This is a cup holder and a pocket for your third row passengers. You have one on each side. And these are for the tunnel cover. So yes, this comes with a tunnel cover and then you can close it for privacy. You can have more space by folding the second row seats. Now when you fold the second row seats, it’s a 60/40 split. So this is 60 and 40 right here. We don’t have the numbers for this, but since that the dimensions of this is similar to the TGO 8 Pro. It might be around the same number, but yeah, this is a lot. You do have a gap here that’s quite big. It’s not completely flat. There’s some sort of angle here towards the second row seat. Now, let’s move over to the third row. To get into the third row, there’s a lever here behind the second row seat, passenger side, right here. You pull that and the seat goes in this position. Now, once this is in this position, you can get inside the third row. So, I just want to show you that in this configuration, without moving the back rest, I’m not hitting my knees, but it’s not that comfortable, even though my knees are not hitting it. At the very least, my feet can fit the second row seat, so I can still have more wiggle room for my feet. So this is the third row. It almost feels like suede, but it’s not. This is some sort of microfiber leather. You still have your diamond stitching here, similar to the togo 8 Pro. And you also have that here at the back rest. This is how high it can go. And you can still adjust this more. You have two seat belts. You have a light for the third row. Uh this is also for the trunk. Then we have two speakers here and your cup holders here with a box or phone holder. So the comfortability here on the third row is not as soft as I want it to be. typical for third rows. After reviewing a bunch of seven seaters, this is one of those that I think is mainly a 5-seater plus two. And I think this is more than adequate for kids or small adults. Before I get into the second row, I just want to show you the door cards. This is amazing because this is again the same microfiber material with stitching. This is leather with diamond effect. This is plastic laminate. Your handle, your speaker with lights. This becomes red. It’s like your door open warning. your window switch here, which is one touch going down and it goes just here and one touch going up with anti-pinch. We have a bottle holder here, a pocket and Sony sound system right here. Yeah. So, I was able to fit on the third row earlier because this was adjusted forward. You can adjust it more here, but this is not ideal anymore. Now, this is plush. Look. And it’s perforated as well. Oh, here not so much. But here, yes. And that also goes for the back rest. This is soft. really plush. Same materials as that of the third row. You have ISO fixed points on the outer seats, three seat belts, and a center armrest with two cup holders. Oh, they’re grippy now. Okay, good. For the headrest, this is how high it can go from this point to this point. For the headroom, well, it’s a lot. For the leg room, this is really good space for my legs. You have a tunnel here, but you won’t complain about it. So, it’s really shallow. Also, if you’re behind the passenger side and you feel like the leg room isn’t enough, you can use these controls to move the passenger seat. Pockets behind the first row seats, and they’re stretchable. Two vents and piano black finish, two USB ports, one type A, one type C, and a pocket for your phone. You have airbags here, a hook, a handle, and a light that’s on each side. So, this is what you will see from the second row. Now, let’s move over to the first row. Now, before I get into the first row, I just want to show you the door cards. They’re the same in terms of materials, but you have controls windows right here and your unlock and lock buttons. Now, all of these windows are one touch going up and down, but for the first row, it’s one touch going down and it goes all the way down. Nice. And of course, goes all the way up with anti-pinch. So, for the first row, you have these sills right here. And these light up instead of having a tego right there, it’s three lines. So for the adjustments on the driver’s seat, you have moving forward, backward, height, back rest, and lumbar. On the passenger seat, you have four ways. That’s for adjusting, moving forward and backward, and the back rest. By the way, this has memory settings and easy entry. If you open the door, this moves. Now, specific only to the driver’s side, you have controls. Believe it or not, this is your light controls. This is off, auto, park light, and your headlight. And this is your rear fog lamps. And here’s to open the tailgate. Here’s to open the fuel cap. And here’s your latch to open the hood. Now, for the first row seats, it’s exactly the same materials again, but it’s more plush and you’re more planted because of these bolsterings. I was sad at first to know that they removed the butterfly headrest, but instead of that, they added speakers here on the headrest. Look at that. So, this is how high it can go. For the steering wheel, we have leather wrapped material right here with aluminum finish inside. carry letters, not just the logo on the horn with airbag here and controls. So, we have piano black finish right there for the cruise controls and a favorite or star button. Oh, this is adaptive cruise control, by the way. Here’s to control the instrument cluster. Here’s the button for your voice commands and to control the infotainment system. So, for the stocks, that’s for the wipers. And here is your gear selector. For the adjustments, we have tilt and telescope feature. You have a vent here, two at the center, and one for the passenger. And then for your dash, you have a microfiber material here with an airbag. You have a mesh here for your speaker, I believe. You have your vent here. It cuts off because you have a HUD. You can see the HUD right there. It says there zero. And then at the top, you have a notch here that houses your rain detection and some sensors. This is an auto dimming rear view mirror. You have your switch for the shade, for your roof, your lights, which are capacitive, and it dims when it turns off. We have your visors which has your light and these lights change. You have a warm and cool tone for the light. Then this can extend. This is cool. That also goes the same for the passenger. For your instrument cluster, you have a 10.25 in. And for the infotainment screen, it’s a 15.6. This is big. And these two screens are sitting on top of this nice wood laminate material. And this is a piano black finish, I believe. Yes, it is with ambient lighting. You can see ambient lighting at the top. And this really looks good at night. And then this is leather. This is the leather that I like. This is nice. Below that is your glove box that opens fast and not harsh with light. You have a hook and it says there max 3 kg. So moving over to the center console, we have a wireless charging pad here. Just on the left side, you have a 50 watt charging. So this is impressive because that’s fast charging. This is your mode selector. It says here normal, sport, back to eco. Below that, we have your hazard. Here’s your switch for EV or hybrid mode, AC, auto, front defoger, and rear defogers. Beside that are decentiz cup holders, and they’re wrapped in the same material as the door cards. It’s a plastic laminate. And then you still have your button here that opens your center armrest. And you still have your AC vent. That’s nice. This is deep. Speaking of storage, below the center console, you have a lot more. This is a lot. I have two USB ports here, one type A and one type C, but you don’t have a 12volt socket right here. If you’re enjoying this video so far, please hit that like button. Okay, so like most cars, when you turn it on, it will show you where the different errors and warnings will be. It will show you the cruising distance for when you’re in adaptive cruise control, and then all of them disappear. On your right, we have your navigation or directions from the default maps app. That’s not Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, by the way. Electric drive power, trip data for the last 50 kilometers, showing the average power consumption, average fuel economy, and average energy consumption. Here’s after reset, which shows average speed and distance traveled. Your TPMS, and back to navigation. So, the car is on, but not ready to drive. If I step on the brakes, that’s like hitting the ignition. Then it will say ready to drive. I just shift it to drive, by the way. So, let me shift it to park. So, at the top we have your gear. So, that changes. Right now, I’m in reverse. Time, light situation, seat belt indicator, temperature outside, hybrid or EV mode, and electric park brake indicator. On the left, we have your speed and power consumption, blind spot indicator, lane departure warning status, distance to empty, state of charge, your ready status. Then on the right, this is your current media playing. Uh, so this is your drive mode. Right now, we’re on eco. There’s normal, sport, back to eco, and then your odometer. That’s it. Now, let’s look at the bigger screen. At the top, you press this for your voice assistant or just say hello Cherry. Dragging down from the top brings out the control center. It’s a shortcut for your drive modes, brightness for this screen, volume, your hybrid or EV toggle, power off, which turns off the car, turn off this display, your park brake, auto hold, and this is to adjust your side mirrors, stability control, hill descent control, ambient lighting, HUD setting, fold and unfold the side mirrors, and memory seat profiles. On the home screen, you’ll find widgets or shortcuts. Here’s for the maps. Tap on that, we get to the navigation app. This is your sound source. Right now, it’s on radio, but there is Bluetooth and local music as an option as well. Now, here’s the settings app. Okay, so this is a lot. Starting with quick control, we have toggles for locking the car, opening and closing the tailgate, folding and unfolding side mirrors, window locking, and for the sunroof, we have some key fob options like autolock and auto unlock, side view mirror settings. Here is for adjusting it again. Folding, then choosing which of the side mirrors will tilt when you reverse. The steering wheel start button. Uh you can set it to settings, headrest speaker. I’m going with ABM here. And an easy entry toggle. For the lights, here are your ambient lighting options. Here are your lamp settings. Close to guest. Uh I don’t get this. Headlight delay. Intelligent highbeam. Uh this is cool. Your welcome lights. So you have none effect one and two. So you can tap on the info button and it shows you a preview of the front. I don’t know how to show the rear because something is happening with the light bar as well at the back. And lastly, your headlight adjustment. Here is new energy where it shows you the real-time activity of the hybrid system and range left just from the battery. Here is your V2L power saving mode. So we have initial, smart, and forced. Under force, we have additional settings for you to tweak right there. Energy recovery intensity which is also your recovery level that you can see on the instrument cluster. Electric mileage display. What it will display in terms of units is percentage or distance left or you let it decide. Driving distance display. So we have the total distance hybrid or just EV. Then we have the disclaimers and your eco mode. Here’s what it does. Okay. So here are your drive modes. Eco, normal, and sport. Drive mode mirroring. Here’s what that means. Power mode. So we have hybrid, EV and EV plus which increases your time on EV mode. It says here for emergency use only. Driver assistance. Okay, this is a lot. Here is your integrated cruise assist, your avoidance system, front collision warning. You can set its sensitivity here. Auto emergency brake, rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, lane departure warning. Here you can set how it behaves, the sensitivity and how it warns you. Lane keep assist over speed warning. You can set at what speed it will warn you. Blind spot detection, door open warning, departure warning, driver attention warning, HUD settings, steering wheel adjustment. We have snow mode for your HUD, brightness level, how high it is, rotation. For some reason, I can’t change this. And you can choose which info to display on your HUD, and reset, which we won’t do. Vehicle settings. Here we have an option to set how high the tailgate opens. Wiper sensitivity. Here’s for the locks. How does it lock with sound or just lights? Autolock, driver unlocking. Maintenance, we have tips and mileage reset. This is for the PMS, I think. Under chassis, we have steering mode, sport or comfort, brake pitch control, brake mode sensation. I don’t know what this is, but you have sport and comfort. Uh display, you can choose your wallpaper, or you can add your own. And the screen saver. Then you have light or dark mode, or you can let it decide based on how bright it is outside. brightness options for the screen and for the instrument cluster, video restrictions, screen cleaning, which just makes the screen black so you can see the streaks easier, and your reset connect, wireless charging, a reminder in case you forget to take your phone from the tray. So, here’s Bluetooth for your phone, and a list of devices that has been connecting to this car. Sound. Okay, this is cool. Here is for your surround sound. Here is your EQ, loudness toggle. Here’s for the speaker on the driver’s headrest. Volume sliders for different sounds coming from the car. Type of tone for the alarms. We have speed volume, off, low, medium, and high. Touch tone. Call broadcast. And then reset voice. This is for the voice assistant. Enable Hello Cherry to wake up. Shows you what the voice is saying on the screen. So you can set where it answers when you say Hello Cherry, the driver or the passenger side. Continuous dialogue time. This is the interval between each command without waking it up by saying hello cherry. Finally, we have system. Here is your version number for the hardware and software. Device name, which is the Bluetooth name of the car. Storage, reset, hand gestures on controlling the infotainment screen. So, here’s how to go back. Here’s control center. We did that. And return to home. Language, time and date settings, fuel consumption unit, power consumption unit, and tire pressure unit. Okay, going back to the home screen. Here are shortcuts to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is wireless, by the way. They’re grayed out right now because we haven’t connected any phone with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay yet. So, here are all the apps. Here is the setting for heating and ventilation for the front seat. We have presets at the top left corner. Fan speed at the top. Settings. We have auto defogging, auto ventilation, auto cleaning, auto air purification. So, as you would expect, this is dual climate. At the bottom here is the turn off and on auto AC vent settings defogers for front and rear recirculating mode and air purification. By the way, you don’t have to show the whole screen to change some settings. You can tap and drag to adjust the temperature and fan speed. Here’s the same setting for the seat ventilation, the default mats app, and music or radio shortcut. Oh, and you can change the wallpaper just by swiping left or right. We got to join Cherry for the cost to coast challenge. A real world test to see just how efficient the TGO REV really is. First stop, a gas station near QC Circle. All had to top up for a full tank. So, we all started on equal footing. From there, we hit the road to Subi, but instead of the usual expressway, we took the scenic route through Batan. That meant a mix of traffic, open roads, and rolling terrain. Basically, what you’d experience on a natural road trip. We stopped midway for lunch at Rancho Bernardo luxury villas and restored in Bagak. A perfect break before continuing the drive. And of course, we were in a lively convoy with our friends from RIT, Edward and Jet. So, it was far from a quiet ride. RTGO RV. It was fully loaded, four people inside and a trunk packed with luggage. This car was heavy. So, here’s how we measured efficiency. When we reached Subi, we topped up the tank again. The amount it took to refill tells you how much fuel was used from the very start. No estimates, just full to full. And our result, only 127 pesos and 37 centavos to get back to full. Just 2.32 L used for the entire trip. We still had 44% of battery left. That’s because this is an EV first hybrid. Cherry super hybrid system prioritizes electric drive and only uses the engine when it’s really needed. So, even with a full load, realworld driving, it barely sipped fuel. And to put that into perspective, the most efficient car in the convoy only needed 47 pesos and 21 centavos to refill. That’s Commonwealth to Subic for less than your daily coffee. And of course, to rest up and relax for the next day, we retreated to Asa Subi Beach Resort. Looking forward to have some one-on-one time with the Tigo RV the following morning. So, now we’re driving the TGO REV CDM. First impressions I had when going here to Subi was I thought I knew this car. Really, I did. Coming from the 1.6T variant, this feels different with all the tech that this has. The acceleration really powerful. It’s responsive. It’s there when you need it. Regardless of if you’re on HEV or EV mode, you don’t feel the transition from hybrid to full electric. It’s awesome. It’s really good. So, let’s test the uh 0 to 100 here. I have 23% of battery. Um, and I’m on HB. Let’s try this. I’m going to floor it. Let’s go to sport. Okay. Okay, that’s enough. It’s so easy to go fast with this car. You won’t even notice it. That’s why I guess they had the um HUD up there. The way this car handles is very different from Tigo that I own. The suspension is smoother. You feel a bit more body roll. For me, I really love the softer suspension. It handles the bumps and unevenness of the road really well. Where on uneven roads, it’s refined. It’s not harsh. In terms of comfort, I have to say that my old Tigo is a bit more comfortable. And I think that has to do with the materials that they used. My car had Napa leather versus this one. It’s a different type of material, but nevertheless, it’s still comfortable. The brakes are really responsive, and that translates to really good regeneration. The adaptive cruise control on this, when it’s braking, it’s smarter. It still does try to maintain the distance between you and the car in front of you, but it does it with the passenger’s comfort in mind. It doesn’t break that hard. It knows that there is a car cutting. It gradually decelerates in a safe manner, in a safe distance as well. So, that’s an improvement. This car is finesse. It’s impressive for me because after 3 years, this is how much tech they can put in here like the HUD. That’s helpful for me. And these are things I only see in luxury cards. In Ades, it puts your safety first and it’s using all this tech to achieve that. So, here’s a list of everything that you’re going to get. I’m really a fan of instrument clusters where they have a canopy to reduce the glare from the light. This one, it doesn’t have that, but still, I can see the details that I need. the information that I need on the cluster. It’s a really good implementation of an intro cluster. Now, the AVM when you trigger it, it’s just a window. I managed to program the star button here as the AVM. So, if I press this, there’s the AVM. That’s the view that I want to see. So, I just hooked a phone and then made a call. The speakers here are actually useful. I can hear the person on the other end of the call better because I can hear him clearer. It’s nearer to me. So, there are 12 Sony speakers and there’s two of them here. This is amazing. These are things that when you get used to, you can’t go back. And with this price point, it sets a whole new bar. You will be impressed with a car and you will be more impressed with how much it costs. The whole packaging of this, it’s impressive. This car has got all the modern bells and whistles, but underneath it all, it’s still very much the TGO I’ve grown to love and trust. It’s a kind of car that just fits right into your life. Like it gets you. Honestly, you shouldn’t sleep on this one. After spending some time with it, I know I won’t. I’ll probably be up at night thinking, “Did that car really just do that?” If there’s one thing I wish it had, it’s a DVR. Just that one. But with everything else it brings to the table, comfort, tech, style, you’re basically all set. At 1,648,000 pesos, this package a steal. Hard to beat and even harder to forget. I would like to thank Cherry Auto Philippines for letting us be part of this awesome experience. Again, thank you. Thank you so much.
