Electric Cars & Disneyland! Cars & Coffee at Rove, Toy Story level 2 charging, & an EV Disney Day!
A couple of months ago, we planned an extra magical meetup of the Mustang Maki Club of America SoCal chapter, Makis and Mickey. A Maki meetup and cruise from Rove Charging to Disneyland. This very quickly evolved into Maky’s and Eie friends. An old Eevee meetup. We started the day off at Rove Charging, which if you know this channel, you know we love them. We love them even more because they had Bolton ready and waiting for us to snack on. Best day ever. Thank you. If you don’t know, bilong is a South African delicacy or staple and it’s delicious. So, I pretty much made everyone try some. Terry, did you try bilong? I did not. Oh my gosh. It’s basically South African jerky, but don’t call it jerky cuz South Africans will be upset. Don’t call it jerky. But don’t call it jerky. So, what do you call it? Bolton. Oh, I thought that was a brand. Oh, no. It’s like literally the staple food of South Africa. Oh, I thought it was the brand, too. You did? Yeah. Oh, I’m so sorry. I’ve been misleading so many people. You thought it was about Disney, but this is all about Bon. Bull talk. It’s happening. This one’s all Yeah. Delicious. So good. So good. So good. We also presented Rove with a sweet little present that we had made for them at the What Three Words booth at the CES show earlier this year. What Three Words is a really simple locationational tool. You can go to the website and work out your own and you’ll have a couple options to choose from. The ones that we chose for Rove were trace, electric, sporting, which seems pretty perfect. Have you heard of what three words? No. That’s the Rove. This location that’s what three words. Wow. So like people can use that to navigate. So like there the whole place is broken up into squares. The whole world is broken up into squares. And what three words did that so you can pick three words like their various squares here. So we were hanging out with them at CVS and they had this engraved for you guys. Okay. Look look. Eric’s car his Rivian was in the car wash. I know. Look. There’s a rubber ducky. Okay. Rivian, good job. Good job. I’m sold. You bought some water. Show me. Well, I bought this one specifically because it says 100% recycled. We all know the plastic recycling is not not been great here. So, I’m buying water here at Gellison’s and I’m buying recycled bottle. How about that? After having some coffee bilong and pastries generously provided by Rove and Gellson’s market, it was time to talk about the cruise. Well, first of all, thank you to Rove for hosting. Yay. I sort of just started like Liv was talking about she likes Disney. I think Coke was like I love Disney. So, but no, thank you for to Ro for hosting. I know they’re doing a lot of great things. I just learned today that every Friday they do like barbecue here. So, 11. They just adjusted their pricing on the CCS side to 48 cents per kilowatt hour, which it people outside Southern California are like, “Oh my god, that’s expensive.” But it’s actually really I’m head of them. And we’re super excited because one of the next sites is going to be Oceanside. We saw them that was listed which is literally like right down the road from us. Get a great spot. Um so when we’re like trying to stretch it coming back from LA and we can’t quite make it home, we know where we’re going to stop. Happy to be there for you. Yay. And I have to say they haven’t even announced that but people are stalking Rome and they found that the permits were pulled for that. So other people are also excited. you know, like something like that. That’s that’s the type of thing that um it’s nice being involved in your local politics because it’ll go in front of the planning committee and I know you’ll have some people going out, oh, it’s going to bring in a lot of traffic and he’s going to do this and it’s like it’s good to be involved and be able to like submit my your input. You don’t necessarily have to go to a meeting. They usually have a public comments and you go, we want Rogue Charging. Yeah. Want it now. So, but yeah, like I used to be on city council when I was in Colorado and it was like those type of inputs are very helpful and you will always have the negative people show up and you will always have the city council people like well I had three people say they didn’t want this and like yeah but you had like 5,000 that that do want it. So anyways um we’re going to be at the Toy Story parking lot. Have are you guys all familiar with the charging in Toy Story? Yeah. So, I figure what we’ll do is we’ll just make our way on five to Catella or whatever. Yeah. Uh to the Toy Story parking lot. We’ll all go charge if you don’t need to charge. But you can just park and then like maybe walk over there, take another group photo over there. We may park at the handicap area and leave the chargers open because we don’t need to charge. But if you Who’s Who is planning on charging? Okay. So, yeah. Yeah. First time fast truck. Oh, cool. Y [Music] uh but yeah, I I figured it’d be cool to do like some photos and and just like talk about like that there’s charging opportunities and it’s really cool that Disney puts that out there. Um so yeah, that’s that’s really it. We definitely need a group photo in front of the castle. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that’s it. I mean it’s just really informal. Let’s have fun day and uh it’s just sort of cool. We have our We’re going to do a little bit of a video and just say like it’s really cool that there’s some place like Rogue Charging. If you’re coming in get from Sacramento or Phoenix or something like this, this is a great stopping point to get your snacks, get your charging, then go over to Disneyland, but you can also charge at Disneyland um all day. No offense, but it is pretty much centil, but it’s very slow. Yeah. So, it’s like a level two. Yeah. Pick your poison. You know, like if you like if you’re uh leaving Disneyland, this is a great spot. Yeah. start. So, it’s, you know, it’s it’s all about options. We’re EV owners. We all know that. It’s like it’s all about those options. So, I’m ready to roll out. I got more. Uh, it’s not a race. Let’s all have fun. Drive safe. Uh, keep together if you can, but if not, no worries. Um, yeah, it’s not a race. It’s not a race. Drive slow. The slowest driver should be the one leading. is like Exactly. You’re going to be in the back. I I catch up real good. Yeah. Bor’s like, “Let’s get her on camera.” We’ll try to stick together, but if we get separated, we’re all going to the same spot, so it’s all good. And let’s all take a photo. Taking off the cruise and we already lost everyone. First, the first thing about a cruise is you should all line up together and stick together. So, everyone pulled out on the road. uh before we were all together and the light changed. Our bad. It was our bad not mentioning that. So, they’re all probably long gone. So, we might be cruising by ourselves. But we do have You can’t see them. There we go. Infinite blue, right? Uh I can’t No, I think it’s actually glacier. No, not gray. No. Um vapor blue metallic. I always get that mixed up. I don’t know why it looks dark sometimes. So, we have vapor blue metallic behind us. Um, and have a tiny little mini cruise on our way to Disneyland. But it was a great start at Rogue Charging. [Music] [Music] We still caught everyone arriving, which is super awesome. So, they’re going down a charge. We’re in the ADA charging, which is really cool that they have. So, um, they have a couple of ADA charge point chargers right here. And then further down, they have a ton of charge point charges. There’s a ton of parking here in general, but it’s really cool that they offer this. Patrick’s getting charging started. It’s not plugandplay, but tap and pay is pretty simple, too. It’s 31 cents per kilowatt hour, which it’s not bad. Um, we’re going to be here for hours anyways. You don’t actually need to charge, but we want to show you like this is actually really nice and cool to have charging here at the Toy Story parking lot. By the way, these are the handicap area. It’s in this sort of like extra handicap area. So, that’s why we’re charging here, but we’re going to go down there and catch everybody else charging at their spot. We’re going to go see where everyone else is. This is the handicap parking. Like we said, they have four charge point um chargers. And this is like Huh. There’s actually more than that cuz they’re dual post. Oh, they’re dual post. That’s right. So, um there’s more handicap parking, but this is like their side parking. And we’re going to go walk down and see everyone else plugged in. [Music] Amy behind me. Yay. We haven’t met Maki yet. Where is it? She’s right there. Eva is right there. Eva, let’s meet her. We’re all sort of lined up here in the Chargers. Bunch of people here charging already. It’s pretty cool because there’s such a variety. Eva, love it. Is this Is this glacia great? Is this place white? Wa! It looks so great today. Oh, Eva from Wall-E. That’s such a great movie. Oh, it’s so cute. She’s beautiful and sleek, just like Eva. Nice. Perfect name for her. Yeah, seriously. Yay. Everyone else ma managed to gather pretty well. We immediately lost you guys. Yeah, I lost you guys really quickly on the freeway. Well, like there was a light the light changed when everyone left. So, we were like alone. I was like 150 on the freeway. Like, where is everybody? I mean, beep. You were legal speed limit. Well, it should have been 55. So, I was going under. Oh, yes. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yay! Everyone lined up. A look at this great friendship of EVs. We should have a name for it like when there’s a group of EVs, you know, like um a flamboyance of flamingos. So like a friendship of EVs or something. It didn’t start with an E. It should probably start with an E. Yeah. Charge. Great setup. All these cars charging and that Rivian looks cute. We come over here. We can get hot. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Earlier this year, we decided to have a Mach-E’s and Mickey meetup starting at@RoveCharging and ending at Disneyland! We found out that many of the Rove crew love Disneyland and it’s only 15 minutes away, so it was the perfect place to kick things off. Disneyland also has great level 2 charging so this was the perfect opportunity to show that off before we all descended upon the park for a day of adventures.
