The War & Treaty | Sounds of the Road

Well, we draw a lot of inspiration
from being on the road. I think for me, I love being on the road,
making music with my wife and our band, and make music connections
with our audience. It doesn’t get no better than that. The first time
we heard our music on SiriusXM, “Are You Ready to Love Me Baby?” was on there, and “Healing Tide”, our song, it was incredible. Fantastic. I mean, as an artist, you only can hope
that SiriusXM would play your music. And if your music is played on SiriusXM,
you know, you know you’re becoming, you’re on your way to being international
or global or something like that. Being on stage is euphoric. I mean, it’s nothing like
it, it is such a spiritual exchange. It’s just amazing that
we get to do this as a job. When I come into a hat shop, I don’t care what hat it is. I can try on thousands of hats. However, when I put on a hat,
it’s like something happens. Whatever it is, the hat carries it. And when I put it on my head, it changes. It’s the thing. It’s the thing
I’m talking about—when I put it on, everything changes. See? You know, we’ve been gifted this opportunity to spread love and spread
hope and peace in our music. And so it just really postures me to really have a higher level of gratitude
every day. You start out
writing this little song, a little melody, and you think like, wow,
this is really cool, but you don’t think like, wow, this is going to be
the soundtrack to somebody’s life. I think it’s very important to
to stay in the moment when you’re out here on the road,
but you got to be able to recognize what the moment is. You know, there’s several people who come
and they’re looking for hope. They’re looking for joy, peace. They’re looking to steal away
for a moment. And you, for 90 minutes,
you’ve got them right in the palm of your hand
to tell them it’s going to be okay. The moment is when you give
and the audience give and both of you can take something away. That’s the moment.
