How To Unhook A Trailer Step-by-Step | How To Tow
Before we can remove any of our connections and disconnect the trailer, what’s the first thing we need to do? Place the chalks. That’s correct. Let’s do it. All right. We’re going to continue this process by unhitching our trailer. The next thing we’re going to do is lower our trailer tongue jack. Exactly. We’re going to go ahead and engage our handle here and spin clockwise to bring the jack on down to the ground. Once that jack’s on the ground, we can go ahead and lift our connection point here on the tongue. Gotcha. And continue to spin until that tongue lifts off of the ball hitch itself. Excellent. Now, we’re going to remove all of our other connections. We’ll start with pulling our seven pin connector. If you want to kneel down here and help me with the chains, we can take those off. I love taking off the chains. It might be your favorite part. Um, I feel like it’s a little tight with the Yeah, the car. It’s all good. And then last piece, the one that’s your favorite. We’re going to go ahead and take off that emergency breakaway line. All right. You’re going to start by pulling that pin out. Excellent. And you can unthread it from itself. Gotcha. Just put it back through like I did before. Exactly. And thread it through here. Yep. Whenever we’re stowing the breakaway line, you can put it in a secure place or plug it back into its module to make sure it stays where it’s supposed to be. Okay, I’ll just set it right here. Perfect. Does that work? Yeah, that looks great. Okay, we’re going to hop in the car and pull it forward and make sure that all of our connections are clear. Sounds good. Let’s do it. Okay, Adam, before we pull away, let’s disengage that parking brake. All right. And then take your gear selector from park to drive. All right, ready to go.
