Custom Javelin Electric Motorbike: Featuring Under-glow and Lots of Chrome!
what’s going on guys matt from Smart back with another custom javelin build all right so there’s quite a few different cosmetic things going on for this one but uh otherwise mechanically it’s the same it uses a 40 A battery 4,000 watt motor that can peak up a little over 8,000 watts far driver controller it’s totally open source and uh yeah let’s get into the detail okay guys lots of cosmetic things going on with this build let’s just start right from the front uh this is the animation headlight you guys know this one pretty well um but it’s using a chrome housing instead of the black one um took us a little while to find something like that but it worked out pretty cool um these little itty bitty turn signals um they’re super bright the uh the video here doesn’t really do it justice but um they’re just a little bit more discreet um but you can definitely see them from from far away yeah this video is not doing it justice um on the handlebars you’re going to see that we also have some chrome levers um so those are all kind of unique took us a little while to find those and then moving down the uh the customer requested pretty much blacked out everything so black side panel black lower panel black bash guard black badges uh black rear cover black tail light cover um we are going back and forth here on what we’re deciding for here uh the original request was for black but we’ve done some reviewing on it and uh the the whole shop here really likes the way this one looks um especially when you open this up like this um and the whole thing kind of looks like that pretty awesome i just like the contrast that it has and then just talking about the colors a little bit more this is a really unique um red that this this customer picked out and he wanted it to be complemented by these kind of chrome accents now this is chrome powder coating so it is not actual true chrome true chrome is a totally different thing um and that does look you know obviously shiny and kind of mirror finishy doesn’t look quite like real chrome uh like you can see on those on those brakes but it’s pretty close and I think it all kind of works together pretty well uh the customer requested this uh rear fender a little bit of an experiment it’s not something that’s really totally necessary on the Javelin um the geometry of this bike is designed to really be so that this is actually enough of a fender to protect you unless you were like a 6’5 rider know it’s kind of hard to believe but it’s you know this is kind of a cool cosmetic thing you know the only problem that I have with these style fenders is the fact that on a standard motorcycle they’re designed to mount onto the axle but we cannot do that and if you’re having an ebike like this don’t do that because um that’s where the hub motor mounts and this is not designed to be a good spacer for a hub motor and uh your motor will get loose and ruin your entire swing arm so do not do that so as a result I have mounted it on the shock and uh it has kind of an unusual bend to it so we had to put a little spacer over here shift it over and try to get that angle as best as possible kind of a unique little challenge had fun figuring that one out all right what else we got going on and then the only thing that you can’t really tell because it’s pretty bright out here today is the fact that this bike has an entire lighting system on it so I’ll give you a closeup and then I will shift over to a different video um where I’ll bring it inside so that you can see what it looks like in the uh in the darker lighting um but there is a LED strip behind there so that lights up that whole panel there are LED strips on the lower so you don’t really see them when you’re looking at the bike but it it uh underglows the whole floor underneath here there is underglow uh on either side of the the far driver right there and then underneath the swing arm there are LEDs as well and those are all hooked up to a controller and you can change the color to be whatever you want um I just have it on blue right now it’s about to be Fourth of July so we got that going but if you want to make it red white pink green whatever you want um you can do that and I did put out a video recently uh a little short video on how to add a light strip to the Javelin it’s really really convenient um it’s not a very fast process but uh the bike makes it super convenient to route all the cables okay so here it is in darker lighting uh you can see how it kind of all underglows here i can change the colors can do whatever we want pretty cool they also have like different patterns and things like that but uh that is how the underglow system works uh we do have our super super nice uh custom seat from Tapia this is that chevron pattern i think it fits the vibe of the bike looks pretty awesome this bike has gone from being like Iron Man vibes to kind of classic motorcycle vibes to I don’t even know what it’s It’s definitely pulling on a lot of different styles and I think that’s pretty interesting so anyway let’s take this thing for a ride and see how it feels all right so I haven’t programmed my screen yet so it does read kilometers right now and it’s probably only going to read like 10 km an hour but you know at least you guys can see what this feels like um one thing I don’t usually talk about is this button right here so on the new Javelin this button is what controls the speed modes so if you look at that three you’re going to see it’s going to go 1 2 3 1 2 3 so you have your uh the low speed mode middle speed mode and your full track mode right um and those are really nice to have if you’re getting low on range you could step down to a more eco mode and uh kind of get that that range um you know one thing about ebikes is their top speed is going to change as you go down in charge it’s not what happens on a gas bike obviously so it’s something to keep in mind um and you know the Javelin is pretty much set up so that it’s not just going to turn off on you when you get to low battery it’s just going to slowly decrease that top speed so as you start to get down to your 10 or 5% left on your battery you’re going to slowly go from being able to hit you know 60 mph down to 40 miles an hour down to 30 m hour and down from there um so kind of interesting but let’s uh set that up nice and smooth oh yeah i just remembered one thing about this bike that was really unusual the customer specifically requested that we do reverse brakes on it cuz he’s used to riding uh bicycles so this you know we normally send out the Javelin with motorcycle brake setup um but this guy had us reverse things and I just remembered that as I went to break all right all right that was this one if you are interested in a Javelin or a Brute visit sparkyworks.com uh we can get building your bike we just came out with the new 8K version of the bike um as well as this one which is the refined 4K version and uh both these bikes are running so great um you know it’s taken us about a year or so of production of the the past designed and we’ve worked out a bunch of the tweaks and uh the bikes are riding better than ever
