2026 MG ZS HEV First Impressions | AutoDeal Walkaround

the mgzs has come a long way since 2018 that was 7 years ago is that right where has the time gone anyway when we first got our hands on it we really felt that the brand had a hit and we weren’t wrong it was the car that really put mg well at least locally on everyone’s radar and today we have the latest and greatest mg zs and now it has a hybrid follow along on this quick walk around and see what’s new [Music] here is where the new zs has the biggest change first you have a 1.5 l naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine that is paired with an electric motor up front now that system combined produces 194 horses and 250 nm of torque which we’ll get to when we go for a proper behind the wheel but for now what i can tell you with the limited time that we’ve had the fuel efficiency figures are not bad at all in the city with the traffic getting worse and everybody knows this it gets roughly about 14 km per liter on the highway even better at 25 km per liter you know every other video you say you know the traffic’s getting worse you know the traffic’s getting we never really say that you know the traffic’s been better recently you know i hope one day we say that
but i’m here for it i absolutely adore it i love it for mg it’s cohesive it looks like one of their own it has similarities to the mg3 unlike before where the mg was sort of like hey it kind of looks like something that i know especially with that color now it looks like itself it looks like an mg it looks like it belongs it doesn’t look like uh somebody from outside of the family anymore i get it i see it i understand it down the side you’ve got 18in wheels wrapped in 50 series tires decent amount of ground clearance repeaters on the side mirror cameras i’m just going to put this here and now what you’ll notice is that there is no panoramic roof thank you jack for raising the camera the panoramic roof will come with the philippines spec mgzs this is not the fully philippines spec mgzs just yet but apart from the panoramic roof everything else that you see here is basically what’s going to be sold in the showrooms and it looks familiar doesn’t it regardless of how familiar it is it’s still all new though right it’s in line with the design language and i like it i like i said up front i’m here for it i’m also here for the fact that there’s 443 very useful liters of space especially when you remove the toe the lip here is all of about an inch an inch and a half so still no issues when you’re loading heavier items and then of course you can maximize that to over 1,400 l of space when you fold the second row while this is all well and good there is one thing that i’m kind of off about and it’s found here fake exhausts i can live with it jack wants to i can’t tell you on camera what he wants to do he’s a bit upset the man has anger issues it’s like the incredible hulk [Music] rear seats uh thigh support is good leg room is decent head room is like really amazing look at that wow uh slight tunnel in the center i don’t think it’s really going to cause much problems so you can have a third person in the back toys back here are pretty bare minimum standard which is to say that you’ve got two air vents directly up front here that’s nice you have a typea charging point just one enough to charge everybody back here cup holders or rather bottle holders on either door and isopix tethers that’s it no center armrest available for the zs uh and like i said the panoramic roof is not here at the moment but it’s coming hold your horses up front let’s start with the instrument cluster it is a digital screen full colored it’s 7 in large can easily be seen you have a telescopic steering wheel with buttons on your steering wheel to control your audio and your cruise controls and even your air so jack and i figured as with most mg products there is a hack to it that if you press the star button you can go from air to audio so you may not have the physical buttons here you do for the audio but you don’t have physical audio physical controls for the air you can configure this so it’s dedicated so there’s that then you move on to the infotainment screen which obviously has a reverse camera uh it has apple carplay and android auto and it is 12.3 in large and it’s great that it’s large but it’s not impeding your view at all sometimes i find it a little bit too large cuz the steering wheel kind of gets in the way but we’ll get to that on a proper behind the wheel uh your buttons here down below are matte which i like and very feel very tactile i like that below that you don’t have wireless charging pads but you do have this rubberized area where it holds your phone very very well to connect to the system you’ve got a type a to charge you’ve got a type-c and a 12vt socket right there in the center digital shifter start stop button electronic parking brake the drive modes and then a cup holder that’s a little bit small for our taste although you can slide it and make it bigger on one side it’s just a little small really like i said and of course a very jack how much money did you put in i’m not even going to get to that anyway uh center console that holds a decent amount of stuff um i’ll tell you this much that the dash does look it doesn’t look boring at all i like these satin finishes that you have around the air that continues here down the center sure there’s some piano blacks here and on the steering wheel but it looks it looks a little bit modern it looks a little bit zippy it looks fresh i like it
back in my day in 2018 was that really seven years ago
yeah i i was still studying you lie
no um one of the things that caught us off guard back then when jack was still studying was the price of the mgzs it was quite affordable we were blown away by it and what we’re trying to figure out or what you’re probably trying to figure out is will that trend continue with this new car well i can tell you that your guess is as good as mine unfortunately we’re shooting this right now quite far away from the actual launch of this vehicle but because jack earl and i bumped heads and tried to figure something out we came up with our own image pricing now we figured that this hybrid will come in at around 1.3 million philippine pesos for the non-hybrid the base model it should be about the 900s or the high 900s is what we figured the all new zs will launch on july 3 and we will have the final pricing by then so do subscribe so you don’t miss out and download the auto deal app to learn all you need to know about the new mgzs has mg continued that trend to shock people with their prices and do you think that price is good enough to shake up the subcompact crossover segment h let us know in the comments below thanks for watching guys take care stay safe see you guys soon [Music]
